..now tell me that list isn't fucked up

Some guy in Virginia got charged (but acquitted) of indecent exposure for being naked inside his own house a few years ago. Had he been convicted, he would be on the registry.

Naked inside his own house?!

How, exactly, did they expect people to take showers if they can't be naked inside their own house?

Yeah, that whole 15 minute wait must be killing you. How about we give it a while before we start acting like the Op is never to been seen again?

In Devolution's defense, and believe me I hate to be on her side, the OP did everything but called the guy a pedophile but completely ignored giving any detail about what his sex offense was. It's pretty disgusting behavior to imply "I don't want him around kids" if his sex offense was getting caught by his high school girlfriend's dad.

Ok here's the list:
1) lewd or lascivious acts against a persons 14 years or younger.
2) lewd of lascivious acts against a persons 14 years or younger, by force
3) sexual assault
4) indecent exposure
5) possession of illegal pornography
6) sexual penetration with foreign object by force or fear.

Buuuut I'm finding now way to set aside that list.

How exactly would you find out if he was wrongly convicted or not?

Ask him. I'm sure he'll be square about whether he was innocent or not. Good Guy Sex Offender.

Okay, yeah, I don't want them around. The "14 years or younger by force" part is what puts me over on that one.

Those are the big ones...you have to decide if you feel he has been rehabilitated from his time served.

Huh, well that does sound like a bit much. Still, my advice remains the same. Just keep your kids away from him. You don't want to turn this into a witch hunt.

sounds like the hoa's plan to get people riled up in order to circumvent housing laws is working as planned

e: just saw the list..eesh

If I had kids I absolutely wouldn't want someone like that within 100 miles of them and I defy anyone to honestly, within their heart of hearts, feel any differently.

Christ. Totally understandable to want him out with that record.

That said, it may be much easier said than done and might require your HOA to spend some bucks on lawyers. And then you still might not be able to get him out. Depends a lot on your bylaws and local law.

Yeah, fuck this guy. "He did his time". Really? He raped a kid

With everyone changing their tune after seeing his rap sheet - what were you expecting?

child rapist? Yeah I'd definitely not want him around. Something about pedophiles not reforming. But is there really any way you can legally get rid of him?

just 1 more question, how old is he and how long was he in prison?! O.o
(that list is really heavy stuff)

Anyone still want to tell the OP to leave him alone?

We'll see if there's a defense force for this.

hmmm... sounds like he raped a kid. Your call OP

The only possible thing I can think of is he could have potentially been 16, had sex with someone who was 14, and when they got caught she said it was rape and then he was tried as an adult. Say if she was white and he is black. But uh, that's pretty far fetched and unlikely. I wouldn't want the guy around my kids or well, anyone I care about really.

Sounded like pedophilia from the OP, and now it's confirmed. EDIT: Do these reports also have the year next to their conviction?

Yea I wouldn't want that guy anywhere near kids, and it sounds like you have the support of your neighbors so I would probably do something as well.

On the tangent of rehabilitation, well, that is one hell of an issue but on the other hand so is being next door to a sexual predator....

All of this is given the same brand as someone who urinated in public. 'Merica.

Not sure if you'd call me a defense force, but I'm of the mind that there remains a possibility that this guy was rehabilitated. With that sort of rap sheet, he didn't just sit in jail, he would have also been doing therapy (and probably still is). The question is if it did any good. (and how long its been).

If he's just out of jail, I'd worry. If this was something from 20 years ago, I'd worry less.

Well I certainly don't blame you for being worried. Why would they place him so close to schools and playgrounds?

I'm of the general opinion if you rape a child you should be imprisoned for life.

I agree. Ugh just thinking about someone who would do that makes me angry.

How do you remove someone from a residence if they aren't committing a crime or breaking ordinances/regulations?

If you want to believe that, feel free.

However, it's still entirely understandable that the OP doesn't want the guy anywhere around kids, no?

Also:

I'm of the general opinion that if you rape a child you should be fucked to death with a giant cactus. But then, I'm a softy.

This.

Well that's just not going to happen but I think someone has revoked their free societal member status indefinitely when they rape a child.

Depends on why he is a sex offender (ie could be that he sent or received nudes from a minor as a minor for instance) but id probably lean towards making his life hell.

I wouldn't do anything because I'm fairly confident everyone else would pretty quickly kick him out. I have a hard time believing there would be a bystander effect for that.

Someone asked already, but whose gonna ever say yes that they don't mind living next to a sex offender? Dudes gotta live somewhere.

She doesn't say how long he's been out of jail. In fact, if moving vans were involved, I'd assume he's actually been out for a while, and is moving from an old apartment/house to a newer one. So "they" wouldn't have "placed" him there.

theres a problem with rehabilitating pedophilia. most people dont do it for fun, they have an urge to do so because they feel atracted to it. its the same as saying rehabilitating gay people is no problem. (sounds stupid, or?)

you can maybe supress the urges, but no one can say if he falls back to it.

Good point. I had thought there was some rules though saying you can't stay this close to so and so. But I don't know much about this situation.

Actually, for most child rapists, that's the sentence they get, even if they're only in prison for a few years.

Prison is really, really hard on pedophiles. They have no standing among other criminals and are generally seen as easy pickings since their crimes involved violence against someone who couldn't fight back.

Sorry I'm taking forever but I have stuff to do. So yeah anyways. I always thought the rule was they had to be a certain distance from schools and play grounds. And according to a few of my neighbors, if the petition has enough signatures the individual can be moved due to probationary violations. I'm not sure of this though

Yeah, time to get the torches and pitchforks.

Can't wait for the defense force to appear for this child porn owning child rapist streaker, though. It's GAF after all.

Good? Am I supposed to pity them?

Naked inside his own house?!

How, exactly, did they expect people to take showers if they can't be naked inside their own house?

My understanding was that the person in question wasn't just naked, he was intentionally exposing himself through the window to children outside for his own gratification.

As for OP, I feel like as long as your kids (how old are they?) know to stay away from him, let the guy be. I don't know how HOAs are supposed to work, but the idea of someone's neighbors being able to kick a guy out of his home sounds horrible to me.

most people dont do it for fun, they have an urge to do so because they feel atracted to it. its the same as saying rehabilitating gay people is no problem.

wat? Just because someone is attracted to kids doesn't mean they're incapable of controlling themselves. You can't "rehabilitate" a gay person into a straight person, but a person can resist their sexual urges and remain abstinent.

Actualy it is more than that. You got to remember most big gang leaders have kids themselves.

They view child rapists as less than human and not worth flesh. So they typically beat them mecilessly if caught alone. Guards have to watch child molestors other wise they get beat to death.

Well, on one side he is supossed to be rehabilitated but on the other side, it seems like he molested a minor so no simpathy from me.

I don't have kids but I would sign it.
