Marty eating his TV dinner alone was exceptionally upsetting to me. I feel like going out tonight just to affirm that was imaginary.
Man, that scene, despite being relatively simple spoke TONS about him and his current situation. Very well done scene.

This show has great acting, cinematography, atmosphere, characters... the list goes on.

But the main murder/conspiracy story is boring and feels generic. A real shame it has such a big flaw.

A great show regardless but it could be God tier if the main mystery was better.
The problem you're describing is a part of the genre and has been acknowledged as something that's ancillary to the bigger aims here.

First piece of fanart I've actually liked.

I'm not big on fanart (I'm not very artistic) but some I've seen and thought were decent or better include:

Not sure why I like this one, I guess the simplicity:

Again I think I like the simplicity of this one and how it captures Rust's obsession with the case:

I'm not sure which of the above have already been posted so apologies if they're repeats. I think looking towards the introduction to the show is a good place for potential sources of ideas; I don't think I've seen many grasp at the religious aspect in comparison to the killers' symoblism.

EDIT:

I very much agree, executed wonderfully. I think how relatively mundane it was is what really sold it as there is some aspect in it which is most likely going to be relatable to the viewer from some point in their lives; be it dwelling up the past, seeking companionship, or the monotony of one's daily routine.

The skull, and the last one are nice, not a huge fan of the others as posters.

I don't know, but that is easily my favorite shot from the OP.

Those pics are badass. I love the these ones the most:

Perfect

I don't think this was implied at all.

I'm referring to the scene in Marty's investigative bureau, where Marty asks Cohle why he came back.

Cohle said:
This. Something I had to see to. before getting on with something else. My life's been a circle of violence and degradation for as long as I can remember. I'm ready to tie it off.

I interpreted that as Cohle drinking himself to the point of suicide, but realising he couldn't go through with it until his debt, i.e. the case, had been resolved. Cohle wants redemption, that's why he asked to be put on homicide in the first place.

I don't think this was implied at all.

Maybe suicide wasnt implied. But he certainly declared he's ready to die. He's lived far past what he can get out of life, and doesn't want to be around anymore. Solving this case is the last burden he has to lift before he's okay with going out.

I don't disagree that he'd see death as a blessing/release, but its not coming at his own hand.

I don't see it as him settling things before he dies, and more as a process of him looking for a way to die.

Glad MM did this. The dude spent way too much time making romantic comedies. He threw his hat right back into top 3 bad ass motherfuckers in acting with this.

A user named nfatoots wrote the following review of Rust Cohle’s favorite beer, Lone Star, back on February 21 on the website Beer Advocate:
4.75/5 rDev +93.9%
look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 5 | feel: 5 | overall: 5

Served in a can. Consumed from said can.

I was being grilled by a couple of company men, and I decided to at least get a beer run out of it. Finally, the sixer of tall boys was placed in front of me. These brews are best enjoyed in dreams that happen in a locked box inside of your head.

Lone Star may also be enjoyed alongside one Reginald Ledoux, on your porch in Carcosa, or in pursuit of the King in Yellow.

Be warned – at the end of every sixer, there’s a monster.

Serving type: can

I'm totally on the Maggie's dad is in on it bandwagon. Audrey's early affinity for drawing penises and naked men and women. Then her doing the deed with two guys at once. Now Maggie getting all up in Marty and Rust's business. Maybe she was abused while with grandpa in the woods and just never said anything for whatever reason. Anyway, can't wait for this Sunday.
