Because detectivegaf figured it out in like the first episode they showed him. It wasn't a big reveal.

But the real mystery now is who was covering up the tracks of Tuttle and the crazy cult.

Because the clues were there, if we were all shocked it would have had to have been a character that came out of no where, which would feel way 'cheaper' than it being someone we suspected a while back. To me at least.

There is still clearly way more to this case than just one killer though, can't wait to see how it all comes together.

What about Audrey? Obviously a lot of us thought Rust had evidence she was abused, now to me there were clear parallels between the video of the child being abused and the way Audrey was arranging her dolls.

I'm almost positive that Childress was the name of one of the cops that was there when that guy who confessed to Rust killed himself.

Yeah, from last week's preview it seemed that Rust showed Marty evidence of Audrey's abuse. But it was the Fontenaut girl.

Oh yeah, I know, I'm saying the way it was shot was very reminiscent of the way she arranged her dolls.

Which made me again question whether she was a part of the abuse.

This is really true. At this point I'm not sure Audrey got abused, though, maybe she heard a story from a schoolmate or something? There is definitely a strong similarity there, though..

I believe you're right.

This is what I'm thinking. Remember when they found those pictures she drew she said other girls told her to do it. I doubt they'd abuse a cops daughter.

oh dude if the final reveal is Marty going into "Carcosa" only to find evidence of his daughters sexual abuse and he goes "insane" at that point... I think that'd match up with the dark places this show is going

- Audrey has clear fast moving sexual tendencies (two boys at once)
- Audrey was drawing sexual pictures from a very young age, said her friends made her do it.
- Audrey was arranging her dolls in a very peculiar way
- The spiral drawing on the wall
- Now on meds; completely disconnected from her family.

Marty is the one who is going to go mad in the second act. Because death is not the end.

I am sticking with this now as my prediction for what is about to go down.

Wouldn't we be in the third act?

Wouldn't we be in the third act?

well i guess technically

DONT RUIN MY COMPARISON TO THE YELLOW KING POEM

Edit: As we can see in this episode, people were assuming (including myself) that it is Rust that went crazy, but as we see he very narrowly approached that point (said he was considering the idea all throughout the break-in of the tuttle homes) and that he got the idea sledgehammered when he found what he did. Rust is not crazy at all: he's the one who sees it all clearly now.

Marty on the other hand is going somewhere dark, his meeting with Maggie was distant and as a goodbye, and what he might discover will destroy his mind.

Seeing 2012 Rust and Marty teaming up, investigating again...brought a smile to my face. This episode was a bit slower but it was great.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. Them riding together in the car and Rust talking about how he hated that place had me grinning like a mad woman. Ugh, I'm so not ready to say goodbye to these two.

Last week in the opening credits there is a frame of marty's face on fire with antlers on his head. BUT for this week's episode it was Rust...wtf???

He still hasn't forgiven Maggie for what she made him do.

I wonder if there's room for discussion about the idea that Maggie "made" him do it. Like he had no control over the situation and wasn't smart enough to understand it was wrong and that he was fucking over a partner.

I knew it! (spoilers for the whole series below)

Despite the Tuttles being twisted pedophiliac, screwed up fuck ups...There is only one killer behind the murders. I knew it. This whole cult theory never held up to me. Sure I was off, on the details but shit was I right on this being one murderer! Bring on the finale!

There definitely is
a larger cult, but it seems like this one killer just went off the rails. The task force in 95 was probably going to find the killer and quietly deal with him. I even think the larger cult killed people, but dumped the bodies in the river. Lange was seemingly the first body to be placed above water.

Rewatching lawnmower dude's first appearance and it looks like he pasted a pube beard/stache on himself to conceal the burns. Can't see shit.

That's what I thought too the first time I saw that episode.

Man this might be a really dumb question, but why the gloves? I assume they didn't want to get fingerprints on the videotape, but Marty didn't even touch that shit. So why did he have to wear them?

It's all about the goodwill toward the channel man.

I had to search the word goodwill (on a translation website called Leo ;) ) but if it means what I think it means why would HBO need it? I mean I get where you are coming from and definitely good for them, but they are HBO, don't they have all the goodwill they would ever need? I'm not from America but at least where I live, if HBO makes a show people know it will be good and they watch it.
