PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4/PSP) | February 2014

Kinda reminds me of Diablo 3 haters

This game sux
why ?
I've played it for 300 hours and it got boring
ok...

A game has to be a complete dumpster fire for me to just up and stop playing it.
It's like a book or a movie -- if you've watched/read a good portion of it, you might as well see it through to the end and form an opinion on the whole experience.

Games that I've not liked early on and had no significant time investment with I have no problem dropping (see: MHFU).

Games like FFX, if you like the genre, you keep playing in hopes that something will change, that the experience will get better.

Games like Rayman Legends, you suffer through the bad parts to play the good parts. In the case of Legends, you have to play the Murfy levels to play the invasion and the non-Murfy levels... and unlock the origins levels as well. Reminds me of Sonic Generations -- I do not really like 3D Sonic -- but I wanted to play the 2D levels of the game and was forced to play the 3D levels to get there. When all was said and done, since the levels were self contained and it wasn't a complete 3D game, I found the experience more tolerable; especially when the 3D levels mimicked a 2D approach.

There's a clean version of those levels in the main game, if you play those a couple of times before then the obscured graphics aren't really a problem at all.

I disagree. :P

The 8-bit levels of Mariachi Madness and Dragon Slayer took me forever to try to train myself on the pattern for so I could get it done with the limited visual cues of the vita version... In the video I post below it looks more manageable because even when it zooms out there's some distinction between sprites.. instead of pixel blobs on the VIta version.

Fine Ham Abounds, here are the console versions of all the 8-bit levels:

Folks,

Please tweet @eastasiasoft with the hashtag #SoldnerXVita to help them with their consideration whether to bring the game to Vita! :D

come on peeps!

Soldner-X 2 on Vita would be mindblowing.

Do this people. Soldner-X 2 is a very solid shmup. Having it on Vita with solid 60fps framerate would be an instant buy from me.

I disagree. :P

I want to clarify here... watching that video can't really convey the difference that the fidelity of the HD twin consoles or PC has over the Vita version and how it affects the gameplay.

Take a look at this section:

While Rayman is a bit hard to make out, you can still clearly discern where he is (if you use a different character that doesn't have floating hands and feet, it's probably better even) and past this you can tell that there's a teensy in a cage when you go through the horns.

I'm going to try to grab some screencaps now for comparison....
These were pain in the ass to take and meant instant death:

I had to watch a video like the one I linked before understanding what was even killing me in this shot... yeah, sure I could've tried to go back and repeatedly ran the original and tried to transfer that knowledge, but it was easier to watch the video instead. :lol

Here's a huge difference, IMO too, I couldn't tell that this was a teensy cage:

should we make a thread? I was thinking of posting this on reddit... but I remember the Vita subreddit not liking such #hashtag movements

Almost at the end of perfect+! on hard for Runner2. It's fun but insanely time consuming.

Also, the whole game should have been world 5 style blocks.

The 8 bit levels are definitely cheap. They give you an impression you're unlocking an entirely new world, where it's really 4 recycled levels and 1 new one (which is then also recycled...)

Honestly, if they're ever lucky enough to make a Rayman Heroes/Myths/Fables, whatever, I hope they cut out all the utter bullshit and just focus on the platforming.

They announced, that forma.8 comes to Vita and PS4.
Never heard of this game but it looks like Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet 2 with more colours, so it will be maybe the best game ever :D

We really need much more Metroidvanias with tiny Spaceships. Loved ITSP so much.
So great what they do with this amazing indiegames.

Me too. Rayman Origins 2! :lol

Yeah, but I feels really cheap.

They are. This one in particular is probably the worst "level" I've ever seen in a platformer. Those frenchies must have gotten lazy and instead of making a last world they just decided to shit on the music levels and call it a day. Calling it 8bit is pretty disrespectful to 8bit games.

did KZ:Merc release those 2 new maps yet? i can't recall. if so how are they...haven't seen any people discuss them at all, which leads me to believe they aren't out ( though i can swear otherwise)

They did but as I said yesterday I've been having massive connection problems since the patch. If I manage to get in to a game I'll be "kicked due to a loss of connectivity" within seconds. Haven't been able to try out the new maps because of this.

Yeah, but I feels really cheap.

Yeah, not my favorite kind of design, but I enjoyed the music at least.

I disagree. :P

You can just use the regular levels on the Vita as a guide.

ah, missed that - is this a widely known issue that came with the latest patch or an individual problem?

The new maps were released a week ago. Really nice maps (never played Killzone 2). Still waiting for bot-zone.

EDIT: Im really slow

I see. Much less cheap then if it's a memory challenge of sorts, but really obnoxious looking.

I don't know why they call those levels 8-bit. No 8-bit game looked that bad. That's more like an Odyssey 2 rendering a cooking omelet. Or an episode of COPS.

I will say that it's about 10 times easier to tell what's going on in motion, judging by those videos.

I think I can tell what you're saying about the Vita version, but I'm old and blind so I try not to talk about anything technical when it comes to graphics.

Anyone know when Bots will be patched in to Killzone Mercenary? I remember a blog post saying that bots would be included in the patch with the 2 new maps. But there was no bots in the latest patch. I also can't find any matches online (always end up being the only person in a room). Have been having internet problems recently though.

On another note - I just saw the Gravity Daze2 trailer agian, and it made me kinda miss Kat :I
I really hope we start seeing more about Gravity Daze2 soon.

Thanks for making me laugh.

You don't have to be technical with the graphics -- I think it's just a matter of resolution -- there are less pixels on the vita screen so applying a pixel filter and zooming out makes things much less clear than seen in the console footage linked.

I seriously could NOT TELL where my character sprite was or what was killing me in that first screen. With the pink/purple worm matching the ground texture, it took me 3 or 4 deaths at least to notice the wooden snake doing the double helix with it. At that point, I started a practice of blind jumping as soon as I saw it jump out and floating until i could get a focus on which "pixel" was pretty much supposed to be me. After that, I made it to the spot where you have to jump up on platforms.

I wish I had bluemaxima's vita, I'd take a run through the levels that pissed me off and took a lot of retries before finally getting through with all of the teensies and enough lums for a gold cup.

Soooo... Lot's of games are gonna release this coming month.

Anybody knows who's gonna make the OTs for the Vita games? I'm considering making the OTs for some of them.

Yeah GREAT game. Those old RPGs were rubbish with play mechanics to rival only MS Excel. Sure I have very fond memories of some classic RPGs, but would I put up with that crap today? No.

Didn't know this was happening. Really hope it does, bots don't enrage me as much as online play.

come on peeps!

Bought SX and SX2 (+ DLC) on launch. Would buy it again if they gave a discount to owners of the PS3 version, just like Rainbow Moon.

Don't have twitter, but they know we want it.

I just managed to have a match of Warzone in Killzone Mercenary without issue. It seems to only kick me when I join an already active session. When I just get to the lobby before a match starts I can play the entire match without getting kicked. Still haven't been lucky enough to try the new maps yet though.

It just feels cooool. Like, Spiderman 2 cool. Speaking of which, any updates on that awesome looking Spiderman 2 clone?
What are you talking about? Freedom Wars?
should we make a thread?

and hey

did Toukiden do badly in sales in UK?
shopto has a sale on it at 20 pounds

and!!! I want the anime
Hope it did not bombed as you think. So Boss Hunting games are not as popular there compared here in Asia.
This is anecdotal but here where I live the copies of the game are literally flying out of the shelves. I was ready to charge my CC since I saw many copies of the game in the morning but come after lunch break the game is gone again. Right now, I am outbidding. outclassing someone just to get a copy. Crosses fingers.

You need to stop now. Just saw an NA copy in Datablitz MoA a few hours ago.
