PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4/PSP) | February 2014

Ok, 8 bit mariachi madness on Vita is so ridiculous, i had to memorize a walkthrough video from a PS3 run to figure out what the blobs on the screen were. At least the next one with this filter isn't so bad... it's just annoying when you hit the dragons.

If you like old arcade games you should consider TxK

Cheaper than a double whopper combo and will kill you twice as fast

I like you!

Listen to this man!

Jesus, and I thought the shipping prices for Canada were bad :/.

Edit: For reference, shipping to Canada is $21. WTF. Wish Square would have just made Drakengard available at retailers.

Doesn't matter where you live, its terrible in US also and just gets worse outside.

What is your card earmarked for, sir?

You can blame

for that

Now, i hate square enix :c

Yeah, I've never heard anything good about Square Enix and Digital River. It's a shame Square just listed the Drakengard 3 soundtrack on their store as an exclusive :/.

Recently got a PS3.

Is it normal for the PS store to be slow all the time?

Yea, the Store is pretty slow on the PS3. Typically it's best to just make your purchases on the SEN Webstore and then set them to download to your PS3.

What?

If the PS+ account is still active on the system he can play with any account

Exactly. I saved my login info on my brother's PS3 and he can download and access any game that I have. He has to download from my profile but after that, any user on the system can access.

Call me a noob, a pleb, an uncultured 3DS maniac who makes threads about games with PS1 graphics (heh), call me what you will. But I have a question.

With FF X/X-2, I looked into why they had the odd naming convention here versus most of the other ones and it turns out it's a direct sequel in terms of story.

So, this will be my first dip into the realm of all things FF. Does this mean obligatory play X first then go through X-2? A lot of posts mention that some mechanics are worse in the first, so I was wondering if this is a required thing, to go through both in the correct order (at least in terms of being able to understand anything).

I would look online, but dat spoiler minefield, it's scary.

Play FFX first. That is the way it is intended.

Just start with X. Don't get sidetracked by people repping either one too hard.

FFX is a great game.

You never hear this much hate about Rayman Legends from owners of the Wii U version. I don't know if they're just more open about different styles of play or what, but it seems like all I ever hear is hate from owners of Vita version. I absolutely LOVED it. I understand if you don't care for the Murfy levels, but to just outright hate them and make them a point of contention for months astounds me. I thought it was great to have the Back to Origins levels there, too. It has like 80% of Rayman Origins, with the new art style and new twenties to collect, just outright included with the game. Its amazing to me! It gave me an excuse to replay those awesome levels, and they still felt a little fresh.

The non-Murfy levels (over 70% of the main campaign) are amazing, varied, and more open-ended than Origins. The music levels were genius and an absolute blast. The challenge mode gives you new ways to hone your platforming skills every day. The 28 Invasion stages give your skills the ultimate test, in short but outstanding bursts.

I LOVE THIS GAME. Its one of my favorite games ever, Murfy levels or not.

probably this, i too beleive Murfy levels add variety to a platform game that is only awesome.

FFX is a great game.

No it's not.
It has a couple great mechanics, but most of it is trash when compared to the previous generation's entries into the franchise.

It's battle system, the sphere grid, and Lulu. That's all that's decent out of "walk in a straight line - THE RPG". :P

Rushing out to the store, buying Final Fantasy X and playing it for over 15 hours "hoping it'd get better" because the first PS2 entry in a franchise I adored "couldn't be that bad, could it?" was one of the most disappointing gaming memories I've had over the past 29 years.

it is a great game but you arer sort of Totobeni´s brother regarding negativity on games , you should enjoy more man.

I enjoy plenty, good sir. I speak high praises of Spelunky, TxK, Risk of Rain, Rogue Legacy, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 6, Batman Arkham Series, etc.

I even speak well of most of the FF franchise (mainline) with the exceptions of 2, 5, and 10. :P

Hell, I just bought FF14 on Steam cause it looked fun.

Yes it is.

No, it's not. :P

I'm willing to give it another shot someday, but in my experience with the game when it came out, it's one of the few Final Fantasy games I hated... and I've beaten every single one with the exception of V, X-2, XIII-2, LR, and XIV. At best it could be a "decent JRPG" if you look past all the horrible aspects of it. At least it's better than Lost Odyssey... mostly.

Play X first. FFX-2's real ending is much more satisfying if you have FFX knowledge to back it up. Also, FFX-2 is a game where you explore the word that has been changed due to the events on X, so of course X is a required experience.

This.

Brofist.

You ain't getting a brofist.

Yes it is.

While you, my good man, gets a double brofist.

Can't wait for March 18 to arrive.

Hooray! Today is the end of the month and I should get my salary but the company decided to delay it for 10 days again. Thank God I decided to skip both DR and Toukiden so I will be able to remain debt free until the 10th. So sorry, PSN/Bundles sales and ZeroAKA, I can't buy it day one and will now seriously consider buying FFX.

I seriously need to find a new company.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can't speak for FFX and X-2 since I haven't played the PS2 FF but I liked FFXIII so I might like this if what corrosivefrost said is true.
I hope it was on sale for $10 at most.
It wasn't.
I just had to know. I bought the PSP version as well. Now In three seperate tabs I can have R4, RidgeRacerPSP and RidgeRacerVita all open. Its fantastic.
The Vita one is 30fps but it looks dang nice.
Will Frozen Synapse Tactics be the first Vita game with asynchronous multiplayer? Maybe the chess game/s already do it, but I am not a chess guy...
I just bought Ridge Racer Vita. :'[
Ridge Racer Vita is a lovely entry in the series. Don't listen to people who say otherwise. 30fps is only an issue if you play it soon after the PSP games.
For months, it was my most played Vita game. I still go back to it for a few laps. Shame it didn't get more DLC/content.
I just bought Ridge Racer Vita. :'[
Did you buy the full version?I am tempted but I read there is no story mode and people did not really like it. I bought the PSP version but it seems a little bit dated. My main issue with the psp version is that cars are too far away once from other, I don't remember the old versions like that.
Depends -- the battle system isn't nearly as active/involved -- it's more old school with the ability to switch party members in during battle -- so if you need one of Lulu's black magic spells or Rikku's stealing ability but they weren't in the party when you were attacked... you can fix that. But there's less of the role system that made FFXIII battles awesome.
I want to be clear -- I have no problems with FFX in terms of combat.
In terms of leveling, the sphere grid is very much like the level system in FFXIII -- so if you liked that, you should like leveling up in FFX.
Where I found FFX to be hugely disappointing was the lack of freedom and how linear it was. There's not a lot of exploring or side quests that you'd be used to if you grew up with the franchise... it's got less of that than FFXIII too if you decide to do all the trials in FFXIII. There's a few hidden summons I think and some "ultra weapons" that require you to do super tedious things to get them. Combined with a story that I couldn't really get into and about 90% of the characters being intolerable to me -- and I just wasn't a fan.
I wanted to give X-2 a shot, but there was some weird thing with a desert and secret items that had me anxious about missing out on something and not being able to go back for it. Combined with my dislike of job systems in FF games and I just kind of dropped that one early on, so I can't include it in my rankings.
Do we have an ETA on Rogue Legacy for Vita yet?
Nothing that I've heard... but I'm usually behind on the news these days as I've migrated to PC as a primary platform.
I Just bought them but I can't figure out how to install them.. its kinda weird.
Dont listen to those guys , FFX might have an ugly main char but it is one of the last good FF of the main titles. now FFX-2 is another case.
Just buy it
You weren't able to get Toukiden? :(
I was gonna give you a brofist, but then...
SCREW THE HATERS. I love FFX-2. It's amazing and my favorite Final Fantasy.
Right behind IX.
You weren't able to get Toukiden? :(
Yeah, sadly. I think I searched the whole metropolis (Metro Manila is huge) for three consecutive days but the game is pretty much sold out. I didn't anticipated the thirst for a MH like game here in my country. Now I know why so many people I know before who has a PSP now has a 3DS/3DS XL. Now I can see them on the stores near me but I can't buy them. But hey at least I get to live for a few more days because of it.
Oh god what have I done?
You have to manually download each bit of Ridge Racer DLC.. Which is like 20 items.
I can't remember having to do anything special. I got the game at launch and bought the gold and silver passes. I just downloaded each bit of content as soon as it was made available, and as far as I can remember, it just showed up in-game.
Ha! More than that if you download the music.
