PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4/PSP) | February 2014

Hey guys I haven't been around for a while because of school, and I thought I could ask here, where is the VitaGAF thread?

Also, to keep this on topic, anyone know when the second/third parts of Trails in the Sky will be on US PSN?

VitaGAF is no more. This is the new home of Vita users since the mods want to place everything related to the PS platform in one single thread.

Second one will be released later this year. Third is still up in the air.

VitaGaf thread is this thread now , as the mods "nuke" the old thread in order to have all PSN together(PS Vita, Ps3, PS4 , PSP , PSM , Merged as one nice thread...) , (even when users didnt want this change) they decided for us to do it so we can have "the best experience". I personally beleive this thread dosnt have the soul of VitaThread even with some of us Vitagaffers around is just not the same thing. So Welcome back!

Oh man that sucks. VitaGAF had it's own vibe, culture, and the best OTs of them all. The whole reason why I made an account!

Sad days.

FFXHD on Vita or PS3?

I haven't decided yet. Curses for no cross buy.

So, I'm a jRPG noob, I've only gone through Breath of Fire 4, P4G and Trails in the Sky (and Grandia kind of).

Never played a FF game. Is X a good place to start? What are they like? I'll be getting it on Vita if I do.

To this day FFX remains the only FF game I've completed (I'll pick up the rest on PSN one day I swear!). It's kind of maligned, and the voice acting is pretty crap, but I like it. I also prefer the pure turn-based combat to the ATB system most FF games use.

I'm still crying for the old vita thread. RIP in peace.

FFX is a good start. The others are rather more complicated and has old school visuals. When you do like FF, try to replay classics such as 4,6,7,9 definitely worth every penny.

The others are good too but their flaws are rather more pronounced than the ones I've said. FF12 is still up in the air since I'm waiting for a vita hd remake for it.

Why cant i download the Dragon Ball Battle of Z Vita demo from the PAL PSN store ?

Does PSN have weekly sales like xbla? Specifically for Vita.

There's a couple of games i've got my eye on, but I don't mind waiting if the price will come down...

If you have PS+ there are free games, as well as significant numbers of games on sale.

But even if you don't there are sales pretty regularly. I picked up P4G at $20 a while back. Beyond that I'm not sure exactly how the format of the sales are (if they're themed or not), but the P4G sale did have an Atlus theme I believe. I''m not sure what the extent of the sales are on XBLA, so idk if it's comparable.

I think X is one of the best places to start with the franchise. Is rather straightforward, the battle system is more a "pure" turn based one and the graphics look quite well despite it being like 10 years old.

As Killa (I think it was him) said, play it. If you liked it, go to the older ones. The NES / SNES ones are on PSN (which has 7,8,9), iOS/And and I think 3DS too in one way or the other. Check some videos about 12. It's quite different from other entries, but rather good. Hope there is an HD remaster.

Once X hits the Vita, it'll become the best
subnative res
FF machine ever. FFI to X-2 + Tactics.

Wouldn't get the time to play them on a home console, so Vita for me.

Same for me. Not because time is a factor, but compared to the Vita the PS3 OS is so slow, SO SLOW I've said, that I don't turn it on unless I have 60+ more minutes to play. And now that Toukiden has sucked my playtime it's even worse XD

I guess I'm in the wrong place for asking this, but since I cannot create threads yet, I might as well ask it here:

As much as I love my Nintendo Wii U & Nintendo 3DS, I'm starting to become frustrated that a lot of cool/super fun Third-Party games are coming out for the Playstation 3/Playstation 4, such as the recent Strider. While I don't have the funds for it right now, I am considering picking up a Playstation 4 down the line, so I'm asking if it's worth the investment?

You're probably better off getting a PS3 and PS+ as it sounds like you'd have a whole generation to catch-up on and it would be a lot cheaper than the PS4.

Is the Vita underpowered or is it lazy devs that we are getting subnative games? :/

It is an order of magnitude less powerful than the consoles. But then again, phone processors are still not as powerful as consoles. Depends on what you mean by underpowered. Developers work on a budget. Technically, every game can be 60fps full res, but some devs want more resources spent on other things, in which case resolution is usually compromised. Mind you, just about every game on the ps360 is sub native since most tvs are 1080p. Devs make the same compromises on consoles as on the vita.

I'm assuming there's a certain amount of facetiousness in this, and I love eye candy as much as the next man, but neither of these things will impair my enjoyment of a good game.

yea he's known for making that same idiotic post anytime someone wants native res Vita games. He likes to settle for garbage looking games, not my problem.

Vita Version:

Alright, was only able to beat this on PS2 with the use of my trusty old gameshark. What are the chances of this being a bad purchase for me?

Depends. Do you like the gameplay? The game is not so difficult that you need a gameshark, unless you absolutely need to get everything.

Finally started Toukiden today. I don't know why I enjoy tiny Asian women swinging oversized swords but I do.

Combat feels a little slow coming from SS but I think I'll get a good amount of enjoyment out of it.

Is there a hint on the digital pricing of FFX on Vita? I can get the retail release of both for £24 but I have no interest for X-2 so if its around £15 that'll be a sale.

When did Soul Calibur's F2P launch in Japan?

And how do I make a Japanese memory card for Sony's portable so I can try Disgaea 4's demo out...? Reset the system and format the card yeah?

Bu,bu,but my Square Enix Membership points... :(

It's alright for 5 bucks. It's ugly, gets grindy, but I managed to play half of it before deleting. Gameplay's flawed, but I found it interesting.
But since I bought it digitally at full price on vita launch, it's a purchase I regret.

The way I see it you're either getting it for portablity (although Final Fantasy X's quite lengthy, or at least it was for me in 50hz) or for better visuals and that's the tradeoff between the two and whichever outweighs the other or whatever suits your gaming habits is what you should go for.

Personally I couldn't decide so I'm just going to grab both versions, it is a shame there's no crossbuy though. Even a discounted bundle of both versions digitally would be great.

Did Namco Bandai remove it now that the game's out? It should be able to be downloaded just fine so it's odd that you can't.

Janurary/early this month iirc.

I think I will get Valhalla knights 3 just to satisfy my...Curiosity.

Am also think about castle storm and stick it to the man.

Anybody who owns the above games want to persuade me either way?

Definitely getting injustice though.

Anyone else feel like that selection is really lackluster for a 2nd anniversary sale? Prices seem fine though.

Killzone being twice the price as it was last month is far from fine. I'm interested in picking it up due to the positive impressions here but I absolutely hate every Killzone game I've played so $17 is way too steep. Sly Vita was also $6 last month and $15 today. Sony needs to learn a thing or two from Valve.

On PS Plus UK/EU monthly lineup announcements:

Hey everyone. I’ve answered a number of times both here and on Twitter that the announcement would be later this week. You’re correct – it is a little later than usual. From now on we’ll be revealing the next batch of games approximately a week before they enter the service.

Let’s stay on topic. If you have questions or comments that don’t relate to Infamous, post in yesterday’s weekly recap post, or hit me up on Twitter (@FredDutton). Thanks.

I wouldn't mind a digital copy of Dragon's Crown, but that's still a little steep for me to double dip on something. Would be so nice just to be able install games off the card and get the best of both worlds.
