PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4/PSP) | February 2014

I'm not really sure why the Vita birthday thread was locked either. Seemed like a reasonable discussion with people posting their collections etc. Is all vita chat about its prospects etc supposed to stay locked in this thread, or is there a general vita community chat thread or something?

The vita community thread was also closed. I was angry about it for a while, since I was a regular there.

Don't ask me why both threads are closed. I don't get it either

NeoGAF works in mysterious ways. The same ways like how this website got Borderlands 2 screenshots for Vita.

No, not really. You only need to play through all difficulties if you want to get the platinum. I played through all the stages on the default difficulty only.
Yeah, just looked at the list. No platinum though? It'll take a good while to triple perfect + every level.

Shame it's not reflected in the score though. Also, I assume you have to beat retro during the level to unlock it as a map option?

Rayman was such a nice surprise. That game is fuuuuull of stuff to do and it's so damn fun.
Not Vita version I assume?

Have I missed it, or they still haven't announced the EU plus games for next month? It's already the last week of the month, yet I can't find any blog post on the matter (except for that "leak").

It's a weekend (as in no one in their right mind is working). I assume we will get the EU and the US plus update post this week. Which is insane because they never have both updates on the same week. But yeah, don't expect anything until Monday.

For those who import japanese games - are there any Vita games that have furigana in them?

Already have some DS games with furigana and would be nice to have some on the Vita too.

Well, I'm not asking for a blog post right now, on a weekend. It just came to mind, that they release new plus games in the last week of the month (around Wednesday - Thursday) with a blog update a week or two early. This month is sort of a exception, so I tought I'd ask if I've missed something. :) Thanks though!

Sigh, I didn't like Street Fighter x Tekkrn on vita. I found the controls uncomfortable and couldn't be bothered to understand how their gem system works. I'll stick to Duodecim for now (terrible story, but good enough to pass the time while watching sports).

I quite like it. It feels more comic-like because of those black borders on the character. Either that or the 360 looks ass because of that depth of field.
The tradeoffs made, give it a completely different style. Which works to the favor of the already hyper-stylized Borderlands 2 game. I like the black borders and I like the tail they added to the bird. And yeah, that depth of field looks disgusting. It's like the bloom of Forza 5. Way too much. What? Is the camera nearsighted?
We need to see more to judge it properly but at the moment
I just want to see it in motion.

Uhh so just a heads up guys in case anyone downloads games from the Japanese psn.

I downloaded some stuff, and I had noticed the Dream club was filled with free trophies, unfortunately now whenever I try to synch my trophy data on my US account I get error code NP-32091-5. Trying to figure out a way to fix it but no luck so far.

Wait what. Runner got a plat?

edit: Well, the Vita version didn't, you must mean PS3. It really should have a plat, getting triple perfects on every level isn't so much difficult, but it is incredibly time consuming.

I'd try to resync later. I got the 100% and didn't have any issues with syncing.

I think the store still needs some work, organizationally speaking. Has this ever happened to anybody else? My girlfriend impatiently wanted to watch Thor 2 last night, so rather than doing the smart thing and waiting 2 or 3 days for it to be released on Blu-Ray, we decide to buy it in the PSN Store.

Enter the store, go to movies, first thing that pops up is Thor 2. Click on it and we're taken to the screen that shows us purchasing options - HD for $20, or HD & SD for $20. No explanation is given as to what the differences are, but whatever, we pay for the HD version. Over the next few minutes of getting ready to watch, we discover that the movie + all the bonus features is also for sale for the same exact price, just in a completely different category (something like 'digital exclusives').

That really sucks. I mean, it's normally the kind of thing I know to watch out for, but c'mon Sony, organize your shit. If I'm in your movie store and click on a movie, it seems common sense to show me al available versions of that movie that are available.

Also, am I missing something, or can I not watch movies purchased on PS4 on my Vita?

It's weird they don't put the additional one in the same page as the normal one.
You should have bought HD & SD for $20, I don't know how people make that leap without seeing more for the same price. It's also the stores fault. You can only watch the SD version on Vita.

Now I'm really conflicted.

March 4 - Project Diva f
March 18 - FFX / FFX-2
March 25 - Dynasty Warriors 8 XL

The Asian in me wants DW (Same effect as FIFA for Yurop). Looks like a loaded month for the vita in the west.

Drop rundown in a bit. Still feeding the kids. But hey look at that: Herc's Adventures!

May have to break my moratorium on old games.

I had no idea Dynasty Warriors 8 was coming out so soon. Might pick up the PS4 version though.

Project Diva f, in my extremely unbiased opinion.

I'm going for FF and possibly PDf if my wallet can stay afloat.

I just found my old piggy bank. It was so heavy that I thought it was full of junk at first. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of money it had. Around $300 I think. These are all in 1 peso coins which amount to 0.022 dollars each.

I think I'm gonna go on a Vita buying spree. Or save up for PS4.

Or put them in a bigger piggy bank.

Every single one of you who wanted PDf better get it. Maybe Sega will localize more stuff if people buy it. I'm not buying it since I never asked for it :P Might buy FFX/X-2 HD. Not sure yet

I want it but I want Dark Souls 2 and South Park more + fuck Sega for not localizing that Yakuza PS4 game.

I'll get Project Diva from someone in the B/S/T thread eventually, because fuck Sega.

Totally going Miku, but I will probably wait until after I finish South Park. I want Dynasty Warriors 8 but no Euro release date yet. Do we know if it will be cross buy with PS4?

FFX/X-2 physical for me... Dark Souls 2 I'll be getting on Steam, since I don't have a PS3 anymore. I can run Dark Souls and 2's not a next gen game, so I should be ok.

I'll buy that Putty Squad release on physical, too, if it actually releases this time. At least I'm ordering off Amazon US this time, and won't be trying to get my money back on ebay.

Hey, hey, hey. Time for a new Drop.

  • Basement Crawl (PS4) - This 2.5D game inspired by Bomberman and Spy vs. Spy (one of my favorite Commodore 64 games of all time) is from the same Polish developer that brought the two somewhat forgettable PS Vita A-Men games. The developers have promised a variety of multiplayer options, including single-player with bots. We'll have to see how that works out. Digital only. (Not interested.)
  • Thief (PS4/PS3) - This is a revival of the series made famous on the PC back in the golden age of the late 1990s. I never played those games (except for the original Thief demo) but they're notable for coming from the same studios that brought you System Shock (Looking Glass) and Deus Ex
    Daikatana
(Ion Storm). This one is in the hands of Eidos Montreal, which brought us Deus Ex: Human Revolution. So, somewhat OK pedigree for the series itself and the studio handling this game. I'm waiting, but I have friends who are definitely interested. Retail and digital. (Not interested ... yet.)
  • Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 (PS3) - A follow-up to the 2010 game Lords of Shadow, this is another 3D Castlevania game. I played the demo of the first one, and then tried that recent 2D game that was ported from the 3DS or something, and that reminded me that I'm done with Castlevania except for my Symphony of the Night pilgrimage every year or two. But, hey, if the last one was your speed then give it a look. There's already a demo out. Retail or digital. (Not interested. Also, you kind of feel like it will appear on the PS4 eventually, no? Then again, I'm still waiting on GTAV for PS4, so who knows?)
  • Pac-Man Museum (PS3) - Here we go, a real retro collection for a dying console. Great, idea, Namco! Anyway, you get Pac-Man (not really as fun as you remember, probably won't include fast-play mod), Pac-Land (great game, played the crap out of the Atari Lynx port), Pac-Mania (another great one, loved the Tengen version for NES), Pac-Man Remix (I'm told this is the remix on the PSP, not the superior GBA Pac-Man Arrangement), Super Pac-Man (who gives a crap, this one sucked), Pac & Pal (never played it, looks like Super Pac-Man), Pac Attack (SNES game based on an obscure Japanese arcade game, in the same vein as Columns; never played it). It also includes Pac-Man Battle Royale -- which has such a great reputation that it may well be worth buying this for that game alone. Oh, and some reports say you can get Ms. Pac-Man for free if you pre-order or order before 31 March, but I'm not sure if that's true. Also, the PS3 version does not include Pac-man CE in any form, DX or non-DX or even DX+. Suckahs! Digital only. (Interested. But I need to see price, and I'd surely prefer to have this on PSV or PS4. It's kind of criminal that they're not coming out on those platforms, but also typical. Grumble!)
  • Magus (PS3) - Co-developed by Aksys (of VLW fame), this is 3D action RPG where you are a mysterious prisoner held for unknown crimes and a new prisoner shows up that helps you unleash your powers and escape and (I'm guessing here) find out more about who you are and what your purpose is. Digital and retail. (Do not care.)
  • Tales of Symphonia Chronicles (PS3) - This is an HD remaster of the classic PS2 game Tales of Symphonia and the Wii Game Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. It's a JRPG, so I know nothing about it. Ask the regulars in this thread, I suppose. Digtal and retail. (Not interested, although I love HD remasters as a general concept!)
  • Port Royale 3 Gold Edition (PS3) - This is a rebundling of a 2012 game, also for the PS3, that probably includes three DLC packs if it's like the Steam version. Apparently this is retail-only, which makes zero sense. Way to go, Kalypso Media! (Not interested.)
  • Mahjong World Contest (PSV) - Just what the world needed: another mahjong game. I think this is a port of the PC/Mac game by 8floor, who also did Doodle God and Doodle Devil for the PSV. Good luck. (Not interested.)
  • Herc's Adventures (PS3/PSV/PSP) - Ok, here's a little gem. I spent about two days with this game, back in the day, and I have this really great sense of amusement about that time. It was developed by Lucasarts for PS1 and PC, back before the Hercules movie by Disney, and has nothing to do with that movie which also got a PS1 game. I've always wondered if somehow that Disney game/movie kept this from getting re-released. But now LucasArts is owned by Disney, so perhaps it's all good now? Anyway, it's got a quirky sense of humor, and you should look up some videos and give it a look. (Interested. Yes.)

I'm really bummed about no PS4 version of Pac-man. Fix this, Namco Bandai/Bandai Namco.
