SEASON PREMIERE OCT 19TH AT 9PM

When Nikita (Maggie Q, “Live Free or Die Hard,” “Mission Impossible 3”) was a troubled teenager on death row, she was “recruited” by a secret U.S. black ops program known only as Division. They faked her execution and turned her into an assassin. Nikita never lost her humanity, and when she learned that Division was a corrupt organization, she went rogue, exposing their covert operations, destroying their plans, righting their wrongs. Two years later, she finds herself working for a new Division, fighting alongside a team of allies she’s gathered throughout her adventures. They have vowed to clean up the mess left behind by the old Division – rogue spies, violent assassins – Nikita is hunting down killers just as skilled as she is.

In her campaign to end Division’s legacy, Nikita teamed with Michael (Shane West, “ER,” “Once and Again,” “A Walk to Remember”), a man who used to train her at Division. Nikita also forms alliance with Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca, “Kick-Ass,” “Desperate Housewives”), a girl with a violent past and a shared taste for vengeance. Another ally comes in the form of Birkhoff (Aaron Stanford, “Traveler,” “X-Men: The Last Stand”) Division’s former tech specialist, also known as the elusive hacker, “Shadowwalker.” Birkhoff had built himself a large (and illegal) financial portfolio when Nikita caught up with him. She enlisted him in the fight, unwillingly at first. Now he’s in charge of designing new gadgets and gear for Nikita’s team.

Also joining the fight is Owen (Devon Sawa, “Final Destination,” “Idle Hands”) a former “cleaner” for the black ops group, a highly skilled assassin who not only shares a connection with Nikita, he’s the key to unlocking Division’s deep dark past. Navy Seal Sean Pierce (Dillon Casey, “The Vampire Diaries,” “Torchwood”) also joined the team last season, after being assigned to monitor Division by powerful forces in Washington. The war against Division’s past is led by Ryan Fletcher (Noah Bean, “Damages”), a former CIA analyst whose life has been saved by Nikita. Fletcher made a deal with the President to keep Division running, with the understanding that it would be cleaned up quickly and quietly or else.

That won’t be easy with Amanda (Melinda Clarke, “The O.C.,” “The Vampire Diaries”) in the world. Formerly Division’s second-in-command, she manipulated her way into its top spot, just in time for Nikita to take her down. Amanda’s out for vengeance herself, and her ties to Nikita run deep. She taught her how to walk, talk – and how to kill. Nikita was her star pupil at Division, and Amanda is not done teaching her a lesson.

Please use spoiler tag if you want to discuss plot point that has not been shown in the previous season.

PROMOTIONAL STILLS

I'm so ready for this and I hope the ratings improved this year. If only CW is not so cheap and spend some money for proper advertising and promo pics of the characters. Oh well, at least they still release some episodic stills as can be seen from above.

HATERS?

Don't even try because Amanda will find you, tenderize your arms and make mincemeat out of them.

What's the tone of this show? Is it serious, campy, mixed? Also does it compare in anyway to the original? I've been wanting to check it out, but haven't made the jump yet...

I just watched the first two seasons on netflix recently. This show is fucking great -- probably one of the most underrated shows on GAF, for whatever reason.

Ratings were horrible, a 0.3 I think. That's super-bad. I don't think they advertised that this was coming back very well.

Pretty good ep though. Had some crazy good lines but continues to be so over-the-top melodramatic that it comes off as a guilty pleasure more than anything else.

wtf :( But yes I didn't know it was coming back at all until i saw it on the guide yesterday.

Shame though- I thought that this episode was fantastic- and had everything I liked about the series.

I don't like this new direction with the season. I hope that new organization becomes a major threat because I don't want them just chasing 29 more rogue agents.

Mission based storylines are a thing now, Fringe has it, Revolution has it, and this one.

Soon in addition of fetch quests we'll have escort missions, assassinations, and underwater sequences.

I'm not caught up on Revolution, but Fringe is at its best with a no holds barred serialized format. That's what so many people loved about season 3 and so frustrated about the first half of season 4.

Judging by the lighter tone and the lighter stakes, Nikita season 3 might go the Alias season 4 route with missions of the week. The fans liked it enough, but weren't head over heels in love like the other seasons. They switched back to a serial format after. But I'm sure Nikita will have Amanda to contend with or pull a bait and switch on the format midway through the season and maybe Division will be burned by the government.

I've suggested Nikita to my friends several times but they never listen :(. This show deserves to be so much more popular than it is.

EDIT: A 0.3? Oh god =(

didn't feel the opener at all.
no major bad guy makes it less interesting. Now that Percy is gone and Nikita seemed found peace.
this season feels like an extended universe stuff

Yeah if the whole season is like this I won't miss it despite the first two seasons being so fun.

the episode was crap especially for a season opener
michael going back to the police station with tied hands was beyond stupid and so was the deux ex alex flanking the bad guy out of nowhere

i hope each episode wont be about the other 29 bad guys
with the death of percy the show lost a big chuck of its power

I don't think there is anything CW can do to get a bigger audience, people just won't watch. I was hoping for 5 seasons (would love 6) but Its not gonna happen. The premiere was great I thought, I know they will change it up later on as they usually do so I'm not worried about the "dirty 30" being the entire premise.

Sucks that all the shows I like bomb in ratings. Enjoy the last season folks.

I imagine they'll transition into the Amanda plotline, and finish up that story arc. That will probably be the season I guess, as I doubt they'd leave anything open for a season 4.

People are bastards.

Wasn't there some syndication talk that involved a third and fourth season? How well does it do overseas?

Tonight's episode was fantastic. This should have been the season premiere, to be honest. The little girl's performance was pretty good, and when she ditched the icy cold demeanor at the end of the episode my heart was touched. The sneak peek at next week's episode seems promising and I think it'll be the beginning of that dark atmosphere I'm so used to with Nikita. Tuning in next Friday ~

Try 0.2 this week :(

I hope they stop with the baddies of the week formula, it's already tired. Nikita is about several intertwining storylines and doublet-triple-crossing, they need to bring that back.

I wouldn't worry about ratings, apparently Nikita is so popular internationally.

Exterminate, exterminate, exterminate!
- Birkhoff impersonating a Dalek

I just about lost it at this point.

Agree about the missions-of-the-week needing the boot. The show thrives on serialization.

As for ratings, incredibly pessimistic site TVbytheNumbers surprisingly says that Nikita is a relatively easy sell for a fourth season due to Warner Bros./CW syndication.

And how just popular is Nikita internationally? I'm curious.

yeah really not feeling the "bad guy of the week" angle, even through godfather was this weeks one

maybe if they would explore the whole "the agents think division was taken over by a hostile force" angle a bit more as in they think they are still fighting the good fight

Almost at the end of Season 1. Dat Lyndsy Fonseca, mmm mmm. Terrible actress though. Anyway, show is surprisingly decent. I like that Nikita doesn't fully overpower guys in combat and is more resourceful/into a really visually sloppy version of judo.

How far we've come to see that now they actually own and operate Division. It's really weird. Although refreshing, it's also kind of lacking this sense of constant pressure from the bad guys. They should have a mole in there that wants to destroy the new Division...although it's a bit too much like 24. Right now, it already is in some ways.
