Activision Blizzard’s ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops III’ takes a third consecutive No1 for week 52, 2015 having claimed the Christmas No1 last week.

Sales climb by an impressive +40% over last week and for the 8 weeks on chart so far since launch this title has never been out of the Top 2 (50% of the time at No1). This week’s chart actually covers the run-up to Christmas and includes Boxing day, which explains why overall sales climb +13% units / +15% revenue over last week. And in fact there is still one more week to go for 2015, as this is a 53 week year. The Top 5 games all show impressive increases over last week, with EA’s ‘Star Wars Battlefront’ still at No2 (+16%), EA’s ‘FIFA 16’ steady at No3 (+20%) and Bethesda a non-mover at No4 with ‘Fallout 4’ (+13%). Rockstar/Take 2 climb 3 places to No5 with ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ (+58%) and Square Enix drop 1 place to No6 with ‘Just Cause 3’ (+0%).

This reminds me, i still haven't played GTA 5. Maybe i really should give it a go now that it's on sale on PSN.

UK really hates Nintendo - even during the holidays, quite impressive tbh.

Just Dance Wii beating almost every entry of Minecraft except for 360 version shows UK isn't indifferent about Nintendo as a whole I guess.

The difference that low in the chart is probably +/- 1k.

EDIT: Although in a holiday week it could be up to 10k.

Maybe, just maybe, the games on the WiiU are unappealing to UK consumers.

Obviously UK customers doesnt care otherwise the titles would chart. But the UK is an especially bad case because its not just about WiiU, not a single 3DS title either while both system have consistent titles charting in France or Germany. In the US bigger Nintendo title chart as well.... i wouldnt even bother with the UK market for this gen if i were Nintendo, doesnt seem to be worth it.

I don't think they do in the holidays though, usually in France or Germany they chart high in quiet Summer months, which is still obviously better than the situation in the UK.

They chart quite high in Holidays as well - the last German charts we got had 3DS alone with 15 games in the charts being the No. 2 system behind the PS4. I mean Style Botique 2 has been a big seller here so far... they just doesnt seem to be able to reach UK customers like they do in other regions.

Grand Theft Auto V will be the only game that has managed to chart for three consecutive years in the yearly ERA chart. LTD should be around 6 million (100%)

2013 - Grand Theft Auto V (Rockstar) - 3,670,234 (100%)
2014 - Grand Theft Auto V (Rockstar) - 1,341,472 / 5,011,706 (100%)

By charting high I mean top 10, everything below the top 10 usually sells insignificant numbers.

If I were them, I would see both why is France so receptive to their titles (Iwata mentioned such a thing back then), and try to see what to do to expand such success elsewhere, and maybe even more why UK is so bad compared to every other major market (not including developing markets now - even if they need to improve their position there as well) and to make the same in other markets as well, to improve them further.

I made a thread about it a long while ago, about what could be the reasons for such dissatisfaction, rather unique compared to every market, and what Nintendo could learn from it. Aaaand there it is - http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=734333

Yearly sales comparison:

Fallout 4 (2015) > The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011)

Battlefield 3 (2011) > Star Wars Battlefront (2015) > Destiny (2014) > Battlefield 4 (2013)

They should bother! For people like me!

Nintendo needs to do some serious rebranding in the UK.

I'd argue they need some serious rebranding everywhere that's not Japan.

Never seen a WiiU in real life...most shops dont sell or display them in uk.

Looking at the Japan charts....its the exact opposite

Their sales team really needs to step up when NX launches to insure they get shelf space. Relations with retailes don't seem to be too good in the UK.

It really is. A friend of mine who is from UK but lives in Japan got back to his country to meet his family and said how strange was to see so much space dedicated to Xbox and how little he saw of nintendo, where in Japan Xbox is almost nonexistant compared to nintendo stuff.

10 (11) WWE 2K16 (TAKE 2)

I adjusted up Star Wars Battlefront to match Fifa 16, they must be virtually tied.

Next week when the The ERA 2015 entertainment chart is published I will recalculate everything to try to be as accurate as possible with the data given.

I ventured into Game yesterday, because my friend insists on buying stuff from them, and I was looking at Nintendo's shelf space.

It's mostly amiibo.

Like, legitimately, 70% of their shelf space is amiibo.

Nintendo, at the UK's only dedicated game retailer (who are crap anyway), is a toy company. Let that sink in for a moment.

UK really hates Nintendo - even during the holidays, quite impressive tbh.

In fairness to our generally awful taste in games, Nintendo doesn't have a lot going on right now software-wise, and it's apparent that the uncertainty of NX (is it a replacement? Successor? Companion? Who knows?) has put a stopper on the spending of Wii U, such as it was.

Nintendo needs to do some serious rebranding in the UK.

This, plus take into account the fact that the UK is extremely price sensitive, and thus they need to either be the cheap, impulse buy kiddie games makers, or a proper premium brand, because they simply can't be both here.

I mean you need only look back through past chart threads to see how often random old games will appear out of nowhere just because one or two websites have a big discount. Artificially keeping their prices high as they do just kills long term sales even when they do have a decent instal base, like with the 3DS.

Alrighty. Not a huge fan of the genre but always wanted to see the big deal about it.
I wanted too and it left me disappointed. It took me ages to finish it, I just didn't get the urge to play it, everytime I tried to continue I end up playing something else. Don't get me wrong, game is well made and has lot of content, but it just doesn't resonate with me. I hated that I have to drive around all the time and extra activities don't entice me one bit. Try it if you get it free/cheap.

I get looked at strangely if I look at WII U games these days...and that's if I can even find a damn shop selling any,as most now don't even display any.So its mostly online for me.

As for the charts there's no surprise as to the top 10,we need some new releases.. January/February can't come soon enough
