-God of War 2
-Resident Evil 4
-TLoZ: The Wind Waker
-Shadow of Rome
-Time Splitters 2
-GTA San Andreas
-GTA Vice City
-Metal Gear Solid 2
-God Hand
-Devil May Cry 3

I might have had Max Payne 2 in there, but since Xbox is not included I left it out because the PS2 version is shit. same reason why no Splinter Cell is in the list, only the Xbox versions are truly worthy of a top 10 essentials list

if I had to only use games that never got an HD remaster... that would look like this:

-Shadow of Rome (PS2)
-God Hand (PS2)
-Killer 7 (GC)
-Time Splitters 2 (GC)
-The Punisher (PS2)
-Silent Hill 4: The Room (PS2)
-Viewtiful Joe (PS2/GC)
-War of the Monsters (PS2)
-Maximo (PS2)
-Urban Chaos: Riot Response (PS2)

Just kidding, you do you, but I feel the complete opposite.

Final Fantasy, Persona, Kingdom Hearts, Tales, Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid, GTA, God of War, Dragon Quest, Odin Sphere, Okami, Shadow of the Colossus, Disgaea, Psychonauts, Bully, Katamari, etc., and my god there are even a good chunk of solid licensed games not to mention obscure games like Rule of Rose. I honestly feel it’s arguably still the best gaming library IMHO, the variety of fun titles was just so strong for me.

Asked this of another earlier, why do you prefer gt4 to 3? Just to help me choose between the two...

As I prefer GT4 over 3, I'll try to answer your question.

GT3 is a really amazing game. It have a good gameplay, good track selection, to make things fast, it is an amazing game.

GT4 expands everything that's good about GT3 with more cars, more tracks and a even better gameplay. I don't know why but to me the even numbers GTs are always better.

Apart from Silent Hill and Fatal Frame, the PS2 had one of the worst libraries in gaming.

Sarcasm?

Are we supposed to ignore that the vast majority of the at the time PS2 exclusives have been remastered on PS3, PS4, X360 and PC? Because other than REmake, all the good GC exclusives have yet to have an improved HD remaster.

Please don't miss this one:

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, PS2 Version

Back in the day, the various ports on each platform were sometimes made by different studios entirely. This is one such case. Beyond being a fantastic game in general, the PS2 version of NFS: HP2 was developed by Blackbox, the developer on all of the good NFS titles. All of the other platforms shared a different version, which was good, but not as great as the PS2 version.

I was firmly in the Nintendo camp back in the day, and this was probably the only game that I had to play on a PS2.
