There have been a fair few reports from Xbox Insiders over the past few days suggesting that Dolby Vision support might have rolled out to certain games on Xbox Series X and S, and now Microsoft has confirmed that is the case.
Xbox senior marketing director Guy Welch highlighted this on Twitter earlier today, and Microsoft provided an official statement to Forbes, explaining that the feature is currently in testing for the two next-gen consoles.
So, what is Dolby Vision? In simple terms, it's an HDR imaging technology that is technically able to provide greater image quality than HDR10, although it requires a TV or monitor that supports Dolby Vision in order to utilise it.
According to Forbes' research, it seems Borderlands 3, Gears 5, Wreckfest and Halo: The Master Chief Collection are all being tested with it at present for select Alpha-Skip Ahead Xbox Insiders, with the brightness, black levels and color saturations all appearing "more refined" with Dolby Vision than when playing the games with the usual HDR10.
