Warning: This is a highly opinionated thread. Listen, I actually don't care, I can play every Persona or SMT game but that's not the best thing for the franchises. After persona 4 and smt IV the franchises started to grow up. Both are better than any Final Fantasy, but they're not bigger and that's not fair. Fans are always at the edge thinking "will I be able to play the next game? is it going to be on my platform?" you can play Nocturne remaster on every platform but not SMT V, you can play persona 5 strikers on every platform but not the real Persona 5. I can buy Persona 4 Golden on steam but not on the only portable console at the moment... see what I'm trying to say?

Right, they’re wired in that regard like why is Persona only on PS? Why is mainline SMT only on Nintendo? I’d get every SMT game if they were on PC or switch but they’re not, they’re randomly spred

The higher up at Atlus, are either incompetent's, or they dont see other platforms as profitable.

My guess is on the first.

Sometimes going exclusive sells games too in terms of coverage/marketing.
those 4 millions copies that persona 5 sold on ps, could've been 7-8 millions across all platforms, those 800,000-1m copies that SMT V is going to sell on switch could be 3m-4m

I don't mind seeing SMT games become much more popular but at same I hope Atlus doesn't try to make SMT series have mass appeal by turning it in to Persona. At that point I rather see SMT series stays niche.

From a consumer's perspective sure, all games should be available on all platforms at release.
Unfortunately the situation is usually more complex than that, and sometimes involves deals with other companies.

Yeah I get that Sony and Nintendo help with the development $$$, but with how famous Atlus and The Megami Tensei franchises are these days, they don't need it.

Both are very niche still, just because persona 5 sold 4m copies across 3 versions of the game or because "looks" cooler than smt doesn't mean it's mainstream. Well it's mainstream... thanks to Smash Bros.

I would say now, probably you're right. When they were a little less popular being exclusive to a platform got them more coverage I think. I only heard of Persona 4 golden because it was the PS Vita game to own. Had it been on everything I don't think it would have really crossed my mind. I just saw it on best PS Vita lists. Now I'm a Persona fan.

Its really not, I enjoy Persona games but to me SMT is on very different level.

And I have no desire for SMT turn in to Persona, SMT should always stays SMT and I DO NOT want for SMT go the same path as Final Fantasy has.

I agree I'm not talking about changing or making something different, the current games as they are a perfect yin-yang.

I think every game should be on every console and pc.

Final Fantasy Tactics is better then everything in the smt and Persona franchises.

Yeah tactics and FF7 remake stomp the whole franchise. Persona and SMT have as much popularity as they deserve

I agree completely, I'd love to be able to play all their catalogue on the platform of my choice and I'm sure many others would too.

As someone who enjoyed the remake…….fuck no. FF7remake is going to right direction and it’s 1000x better than Ff15 but for me it’s combat is no where near fun as press turn in SMT games

That's the thing though, Remake's combat is just getting started and it already curbstomps them. By the time they work the kinks out with part 2 SMT will already have decomposed in it's grave.

Its on Switch. Just like it was on 3ds. I swear you guys talk shit on Nintendo until they get a game you want. Then you just rationalize stealing it. Same shit, different year.

the fuck you mean "you guys" lol I defend the switch more than Nintendo fanboys. Persona and smt should not be exclusives anymore, that's what I'm trying to say here.

Its up to them though. Its like arguing that nothing should be exclusive. I just don't get the argument. Nintendo is clearly funding the series to some degree and showcased it at the Switch launch. I guess when they pick something cool its best to just undermine it instead of just get the game you think looks cool.

Nah exclusives are ok, but these games are all over the place. We don't even know if the next game will be a Nintendo game or a Sony game, meanwhile they're releasing remasters on pc and on every console, then they put joker in smash but not his actual game, persona 4 on steam but not on switch. They need to sit down and think what they really wanna do with these amazing games, chasing for Sony/Nintendo money should not be a thing anymore. They're not creating longevity.

I just learned that Atlus actually owns the former developer on the Growlanser series therefor Sega does now. 2-4 being released again would be a dream. Hell the first game was never even localized. No wonder the Devil Survivor games were amazing.

My problem with Remake is as action RPG your movement is no where near as smooth as other action RPGs out there, blocking and dodging is stiff and the arial combat is just terrible. I accept the fact that Final Fantasy will never going back to turn based and thats fine but they should just commit to it by giving me proper action RPG combat, I hope they stop trying to be both action and turn based while excelling none of them.

It is a bit all over the place. But also its not. SMT is first on Nintendo for a while now. Persona first on PS. Ports are all over the place though.

Only thing I agree on is the aerial combat. I would absolutely hate to see Remake become just another action RPG, and seeing 16 look like it's going that route was enough to make me not care about it. The PS5 version made the game more than smooth enough when it comes to blocking and dodging and Yuffies aeriat combat was already a huge improvement..

The fusion of the action and RPG element is exactly what made remake my favourite action RPG and I hope it inspires other JRPGs to strive towards it. It feels like it achieved exactly what a bunch of Action Jrpg were trying to get via it's fusion.

I guess our taste differs, in action RPG I want fluid movements and in Turn based I want 100% full control of my party members and to me Remake really didn’t give me that but god damn still so much better that fucking combat system in FF15.

IDK why sega doesnt step in and put it on everything. Persona 5 on switch and xbox an easy 100 million for them...Idk what they are doing but its pure incompetence.

It's always funny reading gamers call companies who make millions incompetent because of singular decisions.

Hilarious.

Yeah Sega, strong arm Atlus. That's a healthy dynamic.............

Atlus is gonna do what makes them money. If Sony is really paying them more than they would make to keep Persona off of other platforms, then I'm not gonna tell them to turn the money down.

It must be a lot of money though, because for sure their games would make a lot on PC at a minimum.

SMT is literally a game that is made to be played for pc. Demons + open world and a fusion UI perfectly suits the pc platform. Customizable demons using with mods and a open world will make this game the elder scrolls of JRPGs in terms of addicting mods. Releasing only on Switch ot other consoles is holding SMT back big time.

I don't understand this, SMT has been on consoles for years and Fusion and UI has been working just pretty good on consoles so far.

Look bruz just put SMT 3, 4, 4 apocalypse and persona 5 on Xbox. I don't know how the 3ds games would play without a dual screen, but figure that shit out
