U.D.O - The Wrong Side of Midnight [Mastercutor] 2007
(Heavy Metal)

Heroes in the shadows
Just behind the scenes
Hiding in the alleys
Catch their silent screams

Resurrected faces
Passing on in time
Touch the ancient races
Memories in mind

Never hear their voices
Don't deny the proof
Always in the darkness
Never see them move

Heroes - shadows
Taking you apart
Heroes - shadows
They want you tonight!
To heal you tonight!

The wrong side of midnight...
The beast walks alone...
No time for the hour...
There's blood on the bone...

The wrong side of midnight
The beast walks alone
No time for the hour
There's blood on the bone!

Secrets on papyrus
Bodies in the crypt
Don't release the virus
Kiss the poisen lips

Mystic apparatus
Changing space and time
Cosmic revelation
Long forgotten signs

Heroes - shadows
Taking you apart
Heroes - shadows
They want you tonight!
To heal you tonight!

The wrong side of midnight...
The beast walks alone...
No time for the hour...
There's blood on the bone...

The wrong side of midnight
The beast walks alone
No time for the hour
There's blood on the bone!

I was in the mood for some classics,

Zager & Evans - In the Year 2525 [In the Year 2525] 1965
(Folk Rock)

[Chorus 1]
In the year 2525
If man is still alive
If woman can survive
They may find-

[Chorus 2]
In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies
Everything you think, do, and say
Is in the pills you took today

[Chorus 3]
In the year 4545
Ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes
You won't find a thing to chew
Nobody's gonna look at you

[Chorus 4]
In the year 5555
Your arms are hanging limp at your sides
Your legs got nothing to do
Some machine's doing that for you

[Chorus 5]
In the year 6565
Ain't gonna need no husband, won't need no wife
You'll pick your sons, pick your daughters too
From the bottom of a long glass tube
Whoa-oh-oh

[Chorus 6]
In the year 7510
If God's a-coming, he ought to make it by then
Maybe he'll look around himself and say
“Guess it's time for the judgement day!”

[Chorus 7]
In the year 8510
God is gonna shake his mighty head
He'll either say, "I'm pleased, where man has been"
Or tear it down and start again
Whoa-oh-oh

[Chorus 8]
In the year 9595
I'm kinda wonderin', if man is gonna be alive
He's taken everything this old Earth can give
And he ain't put back nothing
Whoa-oh-oh

[Bridge]
Now it's been ten thousand years
Man has cried a billion tears
For what he never knew
Now man's reign is through
But through the eternal night
The twinkling of starlight
So very far away
Maybe it's only yesterday

[Chorus 1]
In the year 2525
If man is still alive
If woman can survive
They may find

[Chorus 2]
In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies...

One of my favorite stories in music.

We are two mariners
Our ship's sole survivors
In this belly of a whale
It's ribs our ceiling beams
It's guts our carpeting
I guess we have some time to kill

You may not remember me
I was a child of three
And you, a lad of 18
But, I remember you
And I will relate to you
How our histories interweave

At the time you were
A rake and a roustabout
Spending all your money
On the whores and hounds

You had a charming air
All cheap and debonair
My widowed mother found so sweet
And so she took you in
Her sheets still warm with him
Now filled with filth and foul disease

As time wore on you proved
A debt-ridden drunken mess
Leaving my mother
A poor consumptive wretch

And then you disappeared
Your gambling arrears
The only thing you left behind
And then the magistrate
Reclaimed our small estate
And my poor mother lost her mind

Then, one day in spring
My dear sweet mother died
But, before she did
I took her hand as she, dying, cried

Find him, bind him
Tie him to a pole and break
His fingers to splinters
Drag him to a hole until he
Wakes up naked
Clawing at the ceiling
Of his grave

It took me 15 years
To swallow all my tears
Among the urchins in the street
Until a priory
Took pity and hired me
To keep their vestry nice and neat

But, never once in the employ
Of these holy men
Did I ever, once turn my mind
From the thought of revenge

One night I overheard
The prior exchanging words
With a penitent whaler from the sea
The captain of his ship
Who matched you toe to tip
Was known for wanton cruelty

The following day, I shipped to sea
With a privateer
And in the whistle of the wind
I could almost hear

Find him, bind him
Tie him to a pole and break
His fingers to splinters
Drag him to a hole until he
Wakes up naked
Clawing at the ceiling
Of his grave

There is one thing I must say to you
As you sail across the sea
Always, your mother will watch over you
As you avenge this wicked deed

And then, that fateful night
We had you in our sight
After 20 months at sea
Your starboard flank abeam
I was getting my muskets clean
When came this rumbling from beneath

The ocean shook
The sky went black and the captain quailed
And before us grew
The angry jaws of a giant whale

Don't know how I survived
The crew all was chewed alive
I must have slipped between his teeth
But, oh! What providence
What divine intelligence
That you should survive as well as me

It gives my heart great joy
To see your eyes fill with fear
To lean in close and I will whisper
The last words you'll hear

Top Bottom
