Golden Axe Warrior is The Legend of Zelda

Homefront is Call of Duty and Battlefield

The Great Giana Sisters is Super Mario Bros.

Simpsons Road Rage is Crazy Taxi

Quantum Theory is Gears of War

and finally.
Dragonball Evolution „The Game“ is Dragonball Budokai.

Street Fighter: The Movie - The Game is Street Fighter II.

Both games are based on incredibly bad movies,
and both ape each other off. The only thing the devs changed were the visuals.

How can these be knockoffs when the devs of each original game also developed those? Dimps developed the Budokai series as well as Evolution. Same deal with Capcom and SFTMTG.

Saints Row <---> GTA
Spider-Man <---> Arkham Series
Joy Ride Turbo <---> Mario Kart
City: Skylines <---> Sim City
Uncharted <---> Tomb Raider

yeah I know, but dragonball evolution and street fighter the movie the game have a lot in common. and both developers copied themselves by making the same game with a new coat of paint.

Elden Ring copied so much from Dark Souls that the developers should be fucking sued! They've taken nearly everything from DS and just made it open world. Animations, combat system, even characters ffs! How can these developers get away with something like that? Is it even legal? I swear it's worse than when Giana Sisters copied Super Mario Brothers.

If I remember right, Immortals: Fenyx Rising actually had jokes about how it was such a blatant BOTW rip-off.

Was actually a good game considering they weren't trying to hide what they were doing and actually improved on a lot of stuff in BOTW. Felt like the Ubisoft B team making something slightly outside the mould for once.

Every other game released during the early 80's home computer boom were basically reskins of the arcade games of that era.

Every genre begins with a knockoff. It only takes a few quality knockoffs to becomes a genre. We didn't use to have FPS's, just "Doom clones".

Perfect example. And in a way, Virtua Fighter was a SF2 knockoff. Same character archetypes, same kind of health bar system (which is taken for granted now but not standard back then), being stuck on a single plane/axis facing each other.

will let you judge if I am serious or not), but Mario Galaxy is a rip-off the stage Mad Space from Sonic Adventure 2.

I have heard it comes from the promo art from Super Mario 64.

Resident Evil is an Alone in the Dark rip off (but also the better game).

Apparently, RE started as a remake of an earlier game called Sweet Home.

Streets of Rage is Final Fight rip off (but better)

Double Dragon was first though, before that there was Renegade. Being a genre game doesn't make it a rip off. Otherwise even the latest COD would be a Wolfenstien rip off.

In the early 2000s there was a super bad rip off of Bust-a-move called Snood that somehow took off and became really popular for 5 minutes among casuals who has never heard of the original. It was hideous looking and worse in every way but made a ton of money from the newly expanded casual crowd.

What I remember is on ps2...1st is original and followed by motivated/copied by

Rygar: The Legendary Adventure <-- God of War <-- Ghost Rider
oh thats a good one. Rygar PS2 was essentially God of War with a smaller budget and a few years earlier.
