Watch Dogs: Legion Review Thread

Well, I have majour feeling that I want to get back into legion ASAP and keep playing, while I only put it down this morning so it's definitely not at least above mediocre.

I have a really weird feeling that the people who worked on this game are mainly women, though or feminists who have turned all the male developers on the team into women. It's so frigging woke and feminist but that's the way with all Ubisoft games these days, I couldn't even bother with Odyssey because of the amount of disbelief they asked me to ignore aswell as Casandra, the only good VA playable character, doing shit a women would not be able to achieve like taking taking a punch from a man with the fist the size of a bad of potatoes or downing multiple men three times her size.

The woke politics works cause is so close to our laughable society we have atm and not some fantasy version of ancient times but there is that disbelief they are asking for an 86 year old man to get into fight and take batons to the head while dishing out Tyson Fury level slaps and then running off with not a breath gone.
What the actual fuck are you on about?

Sounds like he wants a super realistic game and doesn't appreciate that this is... a game.
No, I don't want a realistic game just something a little less off the wall. I'm quite liking the game. It's the cohesion of this algorithm they have going that bothers me for example I recruited an 86 year old who would nearly need a crutch to walk, sounded like a 20 something with a real gangster attitude and specalized in brawling. At some point your the mind can't suspend the disbelief.

Oh and the game is so feminist woke it's off putting and again, insulting. I just don't know why these developers insist on feminizing men and butching up women to a ridiculous degree, it's not palatable and really irritating. Yet, I'll say it again, I'm liking the game while trying my best to let the story just fade into the background and these are minor gripes that I can overlook here because of the slightly futuristic setting. It's not fucking with history and putting 21st century social constructs into places and times where they should be, like Ass creed, it's just futuristic enough for me to pulll back and go, Ah yes that could actually pan out that way. Aside from super soldier pensioners and the like.

The score is generally appropriate for this game, I'm currently playing it.
May be a bit too high even. Flawed wokeness, the game, some fun to be had nonetheless.

I've been driving around for about an hour looking for a attractive woman to recruit. Alas they are all fucking ugly. Anyone actually found any decent operatives? I might have to settle for grannies
I finding it around 50/50. One part decent normal people that fit with their deep profile and then the other half just weird mish mashes of whatever algarithim they're using and nope, only a few decent looking milfs. Nothing even close to Casandra from Odyssey.

Again, it's gotta be feminist consultants or the team is made largely of women cause they have no problem making the men look good, there's one lad that doesn't even ware clothes who's popped up twice for me now and ripped as fuck.

It's a game about a fascist police state. How could any of you possibly think they weren't going to take the opportunity to compare it to current political happenings.

Ahh. You are one of those.

Ubisoft is:

and if you have a differing opinion you are a racist bigot.

Oh, now it makes sense. Ubisoft has had the same transformation that Naughty Dog has had while I've been away. Maybe a little more based on what I'm seeing in this game and the cringe from their version of a cyberpunk dystopia being based on the idea that Portland Oregon, Antifa or corporate punk San Francisco became mainstream and global. It's the stiff of nightmares really.

Anyway, the cringe aside and @OP The game is too buggy and finicky for permadeath on hard, it's great playing liking a normal civilian and having that stealth tension but it's not worth the trade off when you go to deliver a package and a police car comes out of nowhere to crush you, I still haven't unlocked it cause I'm addicted to recruiting and fucking around but I can see that it'd really annoy the bollachs off of me when a portion of deaths are because of the dynamic nature of the world. I'm thinking about turning it off but I'll hold on a bit longer, drop the difficulty to normal and see how that goes. Thankfully the timer on team members in hospital is an actual hour in game time and that might be penalty enough.

The game has that Xcom attachment to the characters you build... well, recruit... and it's just great fucking fun. I'm actually loving parts of this game and I didn't expect to get more than a half dozen hours out of it before disinterest set in, must be nearing ten hours now and my compulsion to get back to playing is still ramping up. Not to say much of the game isn't some real, low level shite for much of it but some parts, mainly the sim aspect of it, is fucking great.

Played 3 hours last night , nice game but its exactly what i was expecting the typical Ubisoft Open world game , with not much to do in that world.

the idea of being anyone in the world is fine, but its not executed that well which hurts the voice acting its really bad. I did talk to a Asian in game who for some reason had an African accent which was hilarious. Also can Ubisoft hire some decent writers please because god they are awful at narrative and Characters.

Ill play for another few hours until i have had my fill then uninstall TBH

Some of the VA is really hilarious, yeah, it's so bad it's good at times. Wait til you get the long lost identical twins who dress the same.

What are the racial demographics looking like? Are white men as rare a sight as the trailers would have us believe?

Also, it's hilarious that this game is trying to cater to the same woke mob who have nothing to say these days but 'Fuck Ubisoft'.

Nah, it's about on par with what Londons progression into a multi ethnic population would look like in say a decade or so (Well, at least if they were still in the EU). It's definitely not London today though, white males are as rare as a white man in Asia.

If you were able to do the mod for watch dogs 1 where you got the visuals that they hid in the code for some reason then yeah there's nothing impressive looking about this new one

It's just like any other open world game with dynamic time of day. Sometimes it looks insane, sometimes mediocre. But the high points are insane.

It's weird, I know this game is bad. I know it's really flawed and even the best parts of it are often mediocre and repetitive as fuck. I now the VA is making cringe so badly. I know the lack of passion is oozing out of every aspect of the game. I know my mind isn't being stimulated and the things I'm doing are often boring...but I can't stop playing and I've barley progressed the story past the mission that unlocks permadeath.

I wish the game would run properly on PC. It uses like 90% of my CPU and crashes and won’t boot half the time. Also the voice sync is laughable and seems to be different every time I play the game.

I should have returned it when I had less than 2 hours. It’s a mess right now.

Yeah, what a horrible message. I mean, out of all the things you could want to say...

It consists of two claims:

1) All men are equal
2) All men should unite

1) is just factually wrong, open your eyes and look around you.
2) is, independent of if you'd like this to happen or not, completely unrealistic, utopian. It will never happen. As long as there are two human beings on this earth, at some point they'll be at each others throat for something they believe in the other doesn't.

I think it's fairly clear if you don't take the post entirely seriously.

It's an interesting point -- Setting something in the real world isn't necessarily the best place to do this sort of thing.
You're asking people to connect to reality with the initial setting, then disconnect when it comes to the fine detail. I haven't played the game but I've read numerous comments in reviews about the game not connecting, whether it be through the voice actin or whatever. I don't think that's entirely down to politics, but it does look like developers had a hard time balancing all the elements.

I would say that, at a guess, Ubisoft almost certainly operate in a woke, socialist type environment -- As they don't innovate, just copy. And here they have put so much effort into diversity rather than innovation it kind of shows where their interests lie.
It's definitely not offering any real new gameplay experience, but it does offer a new, more maliable social type experience for people who like seeing themselves represented and would get a kick out of the power fantasy taking down the government.

Just one noob question: what is the meaning of the green dot above the head of some npc?

In my first 10 minutes playing the game I was able to see a NPC with a Venezuelan flag as a mask and a building with a Cuban one. Both, as we know, are the beacon of good ol’ socialism. So yes, I have to agree.

Also, in the audio logs, laughable attempts to explain the dangers of populism and big data used by right wing parties (if left wing parties use them, as they often do, it’s fine).

I think I'm about halfway through the main missions and cleared all London. I must say the game just keeps growing on me. I thought it'd be a waste of money and early game is inconsistent and goofy but once I assembled my crack team and it's seriously fun to just roleplay the whole thing.

It does get the feeling of an organisation tackling stuff somehow and it's impressive how automated voice acting serves the game as your characters no matter who you recruit do have post and pre-mission dialogue which makes me feel like we're all in a group and not just one guy doing the mission all the time. Also roleplaying is pretty good if you choose to do so, I had a spy who was taking out the thugs (got himself killed RIP) and a recruited Albion guard who would help me infiltrate their locations. Infiltrating as one of the people is a bit wonky (Why would someone suspect a doctor just by walking past?) but the tension is pretty high. After unlocking most important gadgets and drone hacks the game is on the easy side but missions flow well and what I initially found goofy (it still is as my band of losers is way too wacky with riddiculous dialogue and accents) but the game gets pretty dark pretty fast and it's honestly quite a good storyline so far if not wholly original.

Apart from security guard in my main mission squad I have a journalist with a spider drone doing the investigations, a hacker hacking away when mission looks technical and a totally random worker woman I picked up early who can really get into places. I also send a hitman to do the wet work if anyone gets kidnapped from my team because while we're all fun and goofy it's important to make a statement that nobody fucks with Deadsec crew and gets to live.

It is a very very solid 8/10 now edging into 9 territory for me. Totally unexpected.

Apparently that's a common sentiment for the first few hours of the game but that after a while you have better options available to you. My question is, does this game do anything drastically different than the previous?

There was a time when "Ubisoft" was not synonymous of mediocrity, it's sad now all they aim for is projects with zero passion. Now seems they have a template for a generic open world game and they just change characters and locations, but gameplay loops is always the same.

You have the game and you are torn about installing it? I think you need to move on over to ResetEra!

Lol, so if someone doesn't want to waste bandwidth downloading a game that, based on reviews and let's plays, looks to have a great many issues, they are comparable to the nutjobs at REE? Give me a break, you can do better than that.
