I am always curious about Activision Blizzard. Mainly because of WoW and CoD. WoW keeps losing subscribers. I wonder what number it will be at now.

CoD seems to be doing well for them still.

Didn't they say the three pillars they had for games were Guitar Hero, WoW, and CoD? With one pillar being replaced with Skylanders. I wonder which one will fall next. If ever.

Good work jvm, great thread.

Now I wait for someone less lazy than me to analyse the numbers when they come out and put them into an easily digestible narrative. Basically, who did amazing and who did shit.

I haven't been keeping up with a lot of industry news on the financial side so I expect to be surprised by a lot of these results. Now come on Nintendo, let's see at least the faintest shred of recovery!

Shipments of packaged software were up to 1.7 million units in this quarter, compared to 1.21 million in the same quarter last year. Packaged software revenue was ¥6.7 billion, down from ¥7.6 billion last year. This happened because it looks like older software sold very well, generating less revenue than new software would. In fact, only 330,000 of those units were new software -- the rest was catalog (older) software.

Of those 330,000 units of packaged software, most were for the 3DS -- 280,000 units -- while the remaining units were for the PlayStation Vita. Of the 3DS units, 250,000 were for Persona Q Shadow of the Labyrinth.

Digital software was up to ¥10.2 billion from ¥8.2 billion last year.

Sega are forecasting to sell the 3rd most units on PC (sand the 3DS and PS3) for this fiscal year for their new releases.

3DS - 2.2M units
PS3 - 1.5M
PC - 1.1M

Though they list only 3 SKUs for the PS4 and 2 for the XB1, compared the 6 for PC. It's time again to guess what they are going to ship until March 2015. With each single title possibly accounting for more than one SKU, the Alien game could be the only (retail?) product SEGA will be releasing on current-gen consoles. Do we know of any other SEGA games announced for those platforms? On the PC side we can add the next Football Manager alongside the Alien game.

Good questions. Sega are definitely interesting in a lot of ways. Look at all those digital titles they have, and so many are F2P.
