Seems they are same but ps5 has generally/more often higher dynamic resolutions in performance mode .

In quality mode ps5 is locked 4k where as xsx is still dynamic and can go down to 1870p in some scenes .

Quick summary:

Performance mode :
PS5 in dynamic 4K (2275x1280p ~ 3840x2160p)
XSX in dynamic 4K (1920x1080p ~ 3840x2160p)
XSS in dynamic 1080p (1280x720p ~ 1920x1080p)

Quality mode :
PS5 in native 4K (3840x2160p)
XSX in dyanmic 4K (3328x1872p ~ 3840x2160p)
XSS in dynamic 1440p (1920x1080p ~ 2560x1440p)

Framerate Performance Mode :
PS5: 59.99fps on average (Max: 60fps / min: 59fps)
XSX: 59.97fps on average (Max: 60fps / min: 56fps)
XSS: 47.06fps on average (Max: 60fps / min: 30fps)

*The PS5 in Performance mode has a strange bug that causes stuttering but not related to the game framerate.

Framerate Quality Mode :
PS5: 30.00fps on average (Max: 30fps / min: 30fps)
XSX: 30.00fps on average (Max: 30fps / min: 30fps)
XSS: 29.99fps on average (Max: 30fps / min: 27fps)

A little tearing on XSX and XSS in quality mode.

"PS5 in Performance Mode currently has a bug that causes stuttering unrelated to the games frame rate.

PS5 in Performance Mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest native resolution found being approximately 2275x1280. PS5 in Performance Mode rarely renders at a native resolution of 3840x2160.

Xbox Series X in Performance Mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest native resolution found being 1920x1080. Xbox Series X in Performance Mode rarely renders at a native resolution of 3840x2160.

The scene at 0:46 was where the lowest resolution was found and this scene seems to render at a higher average resolution on PS5 in Performance Mode than Xbox Series X in Performance Mode. However, in other scenes the PS5 and Xbox Series X render at a similar resolution in Performance Mode, and in some cases the Xbox Series X can render at a higher resolution than PS5."

PS5 and Xbox Series X in Performance Mode use a form of temporal reconstruction to increase the resolution up to 3840x2160 when rendering natively below this resolution.

Xbox Series S in Performance Mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 1920x1080 and the lowest native resolution found being approximately 1280x720. Xbox Series S in Perforamnce Mode uses a form of temporal reconstruction to increase the resolution up to 1920x1080 when rendering natively below this resolution.

The only resolution found on PS5 in Quality Mode was 3840x2160.

Xbox Series X in Quality Mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest native resolution found being approximately 3328x1872. Drops in resolution below 3840x2160 on Xbox Series X in Quality Mode seem to be uncommon.

Xbox Series S in Quality Mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 2560x1440 and the lowest native resolution found being 1920x1080. Xbox Series S in Quality Mode uses a form of temporal reconstruction to increase the resolution up to 2560x1440 when rendering natively below this resolution."

Performance chart : ps5 has slight advantage in performance on top of the resolution advantage)

RDNA3/Zen 3 features baby! /s

In all seriousness, good to see. Once the patch comes out to PS5 to fix the bug the performance mode glitch will be gone and superior as well!

I wish channels would exclude the XSS from these comparisons. If you're buying that console, you don't care what the game looks like. Honestly, XSS just makes side-by-sides suffer more, and pads out some videos unnecessarily. If you bought an XSS, you've relegated yourself to 3rd place in visuals, and should be happy with whatever you get. I don't look forward to a full product cycle of having this bastard child thrown into every comparison video, for no good reason.

Dont understand why Xbox X has to drop resolution, the graphics in this game doesnt even look that great

It's gorgeous in action. Pictures and videos don't seem to capture it well for some reason. Also, the draw distance is pretty crazy.

Less time in the oven. There’s not much to work out.

If this had not been rushed out for Xmas and before cyberpunk, you wouldn’t see that

I'm struggling to tell the difference between the S and the X/PS5 when there all running at 30fps :pie_thinking:

Would have thought all 3 could run this at 4K60

My inital impression is the graphics in this game look like a slighty pretier Fortnite

Maybe im wrong and this is a really huge open world game which is really cpu heavy

Yeah, that's not really my point. I just thought XSX would prevail in all multiplats, still baffled by it.

I guess we'll see over time. If it's true that their tools aren't quite there yet, then okay, maybe that's it. In either case, I'm not bothered. Games look great on both consoles and differences are miniscule.

But the X was supposed to be more accessible and easier to program for due to its PC origins....when in reality it looks like optimising for Xss and XsX is a major pita and we are seeing this with every single multiplat game. It is hilarious to think the 12 flop machine cannot win every multiplat comparison.

So u r the type that is more than happy with 1440p on 4k screen .many are same. They don't notice so much difference between 1440p and 2160p

:pie_thinking: Don't know if "I'm the type" I just can't tell the difference from my sofa, I can tell when some games are not running at high res.

I think it's good to know it doesn't even meet its initial 1080p machine target... MS just released yet another sub HD machine in 2020, this should be made clear throughout the generation as it could get worse over time.

Also some posters here seemed to think that the ss would outperform the ps5, I think they need a few more analysis to let that sink in.

If we did not have these videos there would be more kids from Microsoft about their hardware's performance, so the service is all we have to protect us about false claims from consoles manufacturers (all of them).

MS can't even claim parity!

I feel bad for 3rd party games right now. They are nothing but benchmarks for people! :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I absolutely expected one console to render at a higher resolution than the other, just didn't expect that is gonna be the PS5

The difference is small and not even worth talking about, still the results are very interesting. popcorn.gif
