Maybe you ordered like on the edge between first and second wave and the system had to figure out and correct some orders? I ordered like in the minute reservations went online and got my e-mail confirmation at 19:01h and it didn't switch to Q1 2022 yet.

Can't wait to see the actual performance of this device. AYO and GPWin3 are barely double the power of Nintendo Switch, but also the size. Doom Eternal running at 720p/60 without any resolution scaling would be good for a 15/20W device.

Could be, I didn’t get my order through until 2.5 hours after reservations opened. I had already given up, but got a support mail saying one payment had arrived but got an error and they would hold my reservation for 72 hours so I could fix it.

You mean Age of Empires 4? Should be possible without big problems. The trackpads work like a mouse. Even on the old Age of Empires.

Valve is manufacturing this themselves, it's unlikely to sell anywhere outside of Steam. They're already obviously selling every unit they're planning on making for the next year anyway. I doubt they want to give a company like Amazon a cut.

Just learned more and I'm amazed that you can connect this beast to a monitor and KB&M. That'll make playing TW games a lot more easier.

It's like the consoles, they just use the bandwidth limits. Nothing to do with the realistic expectations.

It's just a display rating, remember it turns into a desktop PC when connected like that, it's not specifically about games.

Was tempting but I know its in fantasy stage right now.

IN the fantasy stage, the StD makes no noise and is cool to the touch, always has battery life when you need it, loads games in an instant, and plays them all at 60 fps. You can read all text and every game in your STeam library works including the ones you pre-ordered or are coming out in the next 3 years. You don't notice ~$600 has left your wallet and the device hasn't had time to gather dust. The controls are flawless, comfortable as a pillow and their compatibility in all games is seamless. And the dock for m/m/k keyboard is just there waiting for you at home and switches seamlessly.

...what's not to like? lol.

Not necessarily. And the only reason laptops do it is because that's how they're configured by default. It's pretty easy to make them max out power even in battery mode.

I really wish this had a integrated keyboard keypad like the GPD Win Max or Win 3. It would have made this perfect as in the end this is basically a PC and keyboard is a key input for a PC, having to Bluetooth or connect one is a hassle.

I've been watching a bunch of videos for the GPD Win 3 and the Aya Neo. They both look awesome. They range anywhere from $900 to upwards of $1200. Aya Neo in particular is a good baseline for what to expect from the Steam Deck. I think the Deck will be a little more powerful, but check out how good this little thing is running RDR 2, Cemu BoTW, and Gears Hivebusters...
