TV's Vs Monitors, and Why TV's Make Much More Sense for Next Gen Consoles

Unfortunately the lower priced 32" 4k monitors all seem to have worse image quality than 27" 1080p monitors (except for the higher resolution).
Or is there an affordable one with good colors and blacks, high contrast and two HDMI 2.0-inputs?

I would highly recommend checking the latest HDMI 2.1 monitors. Sadly all of them are crap so far from what I've seen. They're lagging behind and overpriced. Wait for 2021 models.

Is this the official TV thread renamed?

When would you guys expect the next models from Sony to launch? We're only a month away from 2021. Could you see it being announced at CEX and launching maybe March?

Not renamed, been like that since the beginning. I would expect around February (CES 2021).

I really blame YT for explosion of 'plan your next XYZ' - now you need to do 10 benchmarks before buying anything, wasting valuable time and money.

How is that wasting money and time? I've spent more than 100 hours viewing many videos before building my PC and years later I'm 100% happy with all the decisions I've made after spending around $3400. So no, now after extensive research I'm gonna throw more than $7,000 on Sony a7S III that should give me a massive edge over other options. Being an average Joe is the waste of time and money on any investment.

TV's are big investments to many, so it's better choosing what you want/need wisely.

Yup, monitors came late, it was always better to wait for 2021 monitors to get HDMI 2.1 in it ;) Thanks for sharing!

Yeah was only a matter of time.

I am still quite happy with the GN950 having 4k 144 for PC and it works great with Xbox 1440p 120 and for me personally at 27" the gulf between 1440p and 4k isnt massive.

Indeed in a 27" the sacrifice isn't that big, especially if there are some upscaling techniques to 4K.

I am looking at getting a new TV when the 2021 models come out, I kinda decided on a QN95A 55 inch from Samsung as I'd convinced myself that as my current TV get's plenty of reflections from the window getting an OLED would be pretty pointless for me.

Then I watch this video LG GX OLED,daytime brightness & reflection test - YouTube and now I've not so sure. He TV is much closer to the window than mine (If I got an OLED it would be on the opposite wall to the window) and probably a bit higher than this guys.

My current TV is a Samsung ue48ju6000, I guess an OLED would be brighter than this anyway, don't seem to be able to find a comparison a larger version is rated at 350 nits, which is far lower than a decent OLED

Should I go high end OLED or stick with the QN95A (The misses will love the one connect box, but for a decent TV I would actually do something with the wires for her anyway lol)

The QN95A looks really good on paper. I’m going to wait for the reviews to come in. I was set on an A90J, but I’m going to see how the QN95A/QN90A for us Yanks performs. I wish Samsung would embrace Dolby Vision. Charge me $20 more and make more money.

Bought a CX 65" a few days ago and I'm currently gaming on that. The least I could say is that it has been life altering. The upgrade in image quality coming from a Samsung LED is just gargantuan. People have been obsessing about resolution so much (4k, 8k and so) but the real evolution actually stems from the display tech. The PQ of a movie even at 1080p in OLED rapes a 4k one running on a LED.

For Samsung I would definitely wait for reviews/comparisons first, especially in game mode.

i think most people would be ok with a lcd, especially with mini led becoming mainstream. cx oled also has issues like weird banding sometimes giving an artificial appearance that looks smoother on other tv. i watch regular on four different tv, including some older 4k tv (2015, 2016, 2019 Samsung models) and they're all good enough for sdr content. the main reason I game on LG CX always is that on Samsung TV both HDR in games and PC mode both look like shit on my models and LG CX does it all and gsync without issues

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
So I currently have a Sony Home theater System, a Sony bdv-e490 that I've had since 2013 I think maybe later.
Anyway the Blu-ray is playing up so I'm gonna replace it but there is no equal Home Theater available anymore which has a 4K Blu-ray Player built-in so I'm gonna have to do it separately.
This is the AV RECEIVER I was gonna get
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07C48JCNG/ and I was gonna pair it with the Sony UBP-X800M2
My question is can I use my current speakers from my Home Theater

Hey I alredy finished Astro playroom on 4k ips lcd 27" but now that I have lg c1 48", I've noticed that the whole game screen is vibrating very very slightly.
Only this game but on every level I've checled. You need to look very closely but it's vibrating. Is this some sort of aa in the game?
Can oled owners check ? Maybe it's not visible on lcd
