Not to console war (or basically pc war), but I dont understand buying an incremental upgrade for 500/600 dollars, when you could build a PC for the cost of 2 PS5's which will outlast the entire console generation.
But this may not be the best thread to state such a thing.
I already have a pc that is gonna last until ps6.

I also don't wanna wait 1 or more years for sony pc ports and i want to play them in ther best version available, and that is on pro.

Also stuff like gta6 that doesn't get an immediate pc version, the best version of the game is gonna be on pro unless M does a sex pro.

Well thats most certainly true. I'll def pick up a console when GTA 6 launches. No way I'm waiting a year.
However, I dont see the need to play the Sony exclusives right away, those games are still good a year later, especially singleplayer stuff like God of War.

When they tell you to go out and touch grass 😭

lol, people are not missing anything. People are simply seeing just how much everyone except for NVIDIA is struggling in that area.
This is a very exclusive high tech club were a handful of architects can make all the difference, and obviously these handful of top of the line specialists all seem to work for NVIDIA which have kept their technological lead for quite a while now.
Overall manpower doesn´t mean squat here, the cashflow and which experts you can attract with it does.
But Sony are not struggling. With what they had on PS4 Pro and PS5 they really did well. Their CBR is doing really well in games (that implement it properly), better than FSR2 IMO, and same thing for their games using their own tools in the Insomniac games with only shitty RDNA2 intersection HW available.

They also have experience in Machine learning in both in physics stuff (Spider-man) and real-time textures upscaling (which is technically AI upscaling). They are doing really well with the hardware ressources they have. They don't even have dedicated ressources on PS5 for machine learning and they do more stuff than Microsoft with their infinite ressources and machine learning hardware available on Xbox.

So yes objectively they have the will, they actually design clever and working solutions (both hardware and software), and they have years of experience. What they lack is infinite ressources like Nvidia and MS, but that didn't help MS here, because MS lack the will to be pioneer in those areas and as usual just follow the others, 10 years after.

I always answer to this concept with another concept.

Does a baseball huge fanboy record all the matches in tv just to watch them a year later? the matches are still gonna be spectacular even one year later.

If you are passionate about something, you are not gonna wait one (or more) years to play it (and it's not just sony, i didn't liked botw but i still bought tokt day one because i like open worlds and physics shanenigans)
I can wait to play some games, not all games.

This is streamed at 18:00 local time, and as it's just nine minutes, I'll have ample time to watch entirely the first game of the season for the hockey team I support (out of pure masochism at this point I guess).

So I'll probably get to be very disappointed twice in a very short time period!

I'd consider a PS5 if it wasn't for paid online. There is some stuff that's not on PC and sometimes I don't feel like waiting, though the consolation is the PC version tends to look better. But now with more and more diminishing returns I think after I exhaust my 4090 I'll go console all the way because Nvidia can suck it with their pricing.

I absolutely understand that but it's also a failing of gamers, we can't wait for shit

We fall for the 'hype machine' wayyyy too quickly

9 minutes, so there will be barely if any gameplay demonstrating it. Not surprising, this makes even less sense than the PS4 Pro yet many of you are waiting for it like the second coming despite having like 5 games this gen that we can call proper “nextgen” games. This company and the whole industry has become a complete joke 🤡
I honestly think this will be better than PS4 Pro. We're in an age where Dynamic resolution scaling and unlocked framerates are far more prevalent and games now ship with settings choices (quality or performance). This will likely benefit a lot more games without a need for patches and settings where you get the best of both quality and performance modes.

I think that we can excuse gamers for being hyped when a big sony game come out dude, they are one of the big 3 and it's not like they release 10 games per year, more like 2-4 and not every game is gonna be in a genre that you like, so probably more like 1 to 3 games per year.

Hey, you're in here with us talking sooo. You like the industry regardless :messenger_sunglasses:

Don't waste your time trying to make sense of it for anyone. They won't get it.

99.99999999% not likely to happen:

Sony: We've made a PS5 Pro. It's got a bunch of new features, such as a faster CPU / GPU, and all that jazz. It'll cost £499 / £599.

Me: Yeah, that's quite a lot. I'll wait.

Sony: And we've also remastered Bloodborne, which will be 4K / 60fps, with raytracing on the Pro.

high quality GIF

I mean - other than FSR (which is the most widely supported upscaler on the market, despite it's perceived challenges), who exactly is struggling?
In public coverage by tech sites, Intel, NVidia, Apple, Microsoft, Epic, and even Unity(6.0) upscalers are all compared favourably over FSR, and often relative against DLSS.
Hell MS's spatial upscaler is - better - than DLSS1.x or FSR1.x ever were, and runs on substantially lower-end hw than what the others usually target.
And Intel got their ML path run on everything - the only one of its kind to date.

The expectation, that Sony has any chance of leapfrogging AMD and maybe even get close to NVIDIA is....far fetched to say the least.
Taking tech sites at face value (which are the main source of DLSS market leadership narrative) everyone except AMD has already leap-frogged AMD.
And again - Sony (and not just Sony - there are other image companies that did this) has been doing temporal image reconstruction a decade before DLSS was even a marketing name. Contrary to popular belief - these approaches didn't originate in games, and a lot of the progress we've seen in the last 15 years sits on decades of prior research in the space. ML based approaches are the most novel part of it - but it's fundamentally still sitting atop of signal theory just like everything else, it's not because AI was used to crack something that never worked before - it's a literal 'faster horses' example.

I am expected people to be dissapointed. Because I highly doubt this will show any gameplay or even reveal the console design that we already know.

just some technical stuff about what it can do and that's it. You will have to wait till TGS for hands-on or proper game trailers. including death stranding 2.

Do not expect anything else.

Is that really necessary? If the Pro is better to show technical differences better than the base PS5, what's the point of demos if technical differences can be easy to implement?

Have been told no gameplay today that will come later

This will just be a tech talk

Cerny speaks so slowly by the time he finishes “Good morning”, the nine minutes will be almost up and the last ten seconds we will get a splash screen of the highlights and the show will end.

Ok, I’m exaggerating but I only expect him to talk about 3-4 high level things that touch on the the main difference between this and the ps5 and call it a day. Seeing that it so short it should be interesting to see what this really brings for improvements. Still crossing fingers there is a frame generation option, but tempering that as most likely not happening.
