Super Mario 3D World - best 3D Mario platformer I've ever played.

Glad to see this game getting it's due in here. It stands head and shoulders with the very best in the series.

Is cormack12 doing something like this? No pressure, just asking. Just randomly listing games with no motivations doesn’t seem that meaningful.

I could do, the problem being the list would be fucking huge and I was waiting until 2020 had ended really, if the period is 01/01/2010-31/12/2020. You could do the period of 01/01/2019-31/12/2019 to include the finishing year content as well.

I think next year as well we can do the actual game of the generation poll, they've just chosen weird times to make their lists

I think most people see this decade as ending with the end of 2019. 01/01/2010-31/12/2020 would be a period of 11 years in total.

Top 10

• #1.) Zelda: Breath of The Wild
  • Man, I'm still in disbelief how amazing this game was. I knew it was supposed to be good, but I never expected it to out do OoT, much less become my favorite game of all time. The adventure, wanderlust, beautiful world, graphics, combat, inventory system, the challenges, collectibles, mini games... it had everything! There are weak points like the story and trials/dungeons but everything else was so fucking amazing I was easily able to overlook the flaws. Easily my #1 this decade, and of all time.
• #2.) Skyrim
  • I sunk more hours into this game than I have with any game in my life. It's so satisfying and fun to explore. I've played around a dozen different characters and each one of them had their own unique feel. I landed mostly on a stealthy, arrow-shooting, cave plundering thief, however, my strongest character turned out to be an evil sword and shield wielding, fire casting, daedric armor wearing hellion. Either way, the exploration and character customizing and leveling are top notch in this game. So much more to say about it, but I got to move on.
• #3.) BioShock: Infinite
  • I've got a soft spot for this one as BioShock was my favorite game ever for a long time. I can't say it played the best but the story, acting, scenery and graphics we're amazing and really had no business being as good as they were on the 360. I'll never forget my jaw dropping the first time I saw Columbia. I actually didn't follow the trailers or anything for the game so I had no idea what it was about, or that it took place in floating sky city in the clouds. It was the same feeling I had the first time I saw Rapture. It'll always be a top 10 game for me.
• #4.) Fallout 4
  • I know this game was hated a lot and for what it's worth I agree the main character talking and injecting his own personality was a draw back. However, I loved every thing else about the game. I honestly didn't find his voice or personality to be that bad or distracting. This really was just Skyrim but with guns for me. I loved it for all the same reasons. It was better in some ways, with the better graphics, building and tighter controls. I really love this game and still fire it up once in a while.
• #5.) Mass Effect 2
  • Of all the game on the list this one gets the best gameplay award. The game was polished as fuck. The combat was amazing, controls felt great and all around I don't remember running into a lot of bugs and glitches. Additionally, the character stories we're told wonderfully. You really felt invested in these characters and their back stories. I remember reading through every codex and checking out every detail in each world. I came back for seconds, thirds and I'm sure fourths on this one.
• #6.) Warhammer: Vermintide 2
  • This fucking game has taken so much time away from my life over the last year and a half... but I just can't get enough of it. It's a shameless Left 4 Dead clone but it does it so amazingly well (and let's face it, L4D3 ain't comin' out anytime soon am I right?) that everyone is okay with it. It even out does L4D2 by adding in tons of content, customization, leveling and more. A fantastic game that filled a cold and dark hole that having no news of L4D3 had created. Bout' to go play some more tonight in fact.
• #7.) Doom (2016)
  • What wasn't fucking incredible about this game? I mean, think about, try and name one thing that sucked about Doom 2016 (okay, well I didn't like the cyber demon design). It was insanely good on all fronts. It even felt like Doom but better, something I didn't think could be done! The tight, smooth controls, the graphics, THE MUSIC(!!!), the nostalgia... all of it. Can't believe they came back after all these years and made one of the best shooters of all time... AGAIN!
• #8.) Minecraft
  • A part of me didn't want to put this game on the list but I had to. It really is fantastic. The worlds I created and structures I accidentally blew up... I mean, everyone's played Minecraft so I won't go on but it definitely deserved a place on the top 10 list for the 2010's. I honestly think it'll wind up being one of the most iconic video games of all time when we look back 20+ years from now.
• #9.) Dead Space 2
  • This also gets a mention for great gameplay, right up there next to ME2. I remember playing through it at the time knowing it was one of the best TPS I'd ever played. It tapped into sci-fi horror the likes of which we haven't seen since Aliens. One of the few games where I did every little thing you could and got all the achievements with out even trying.
• #10.) Journey
  • And finally, how could we forget this beauty. Honestly one of the most emotional, impactful, memorable gaming experiences I've ever had. Like many people, I didn't know much about this game, except that it was good. That moment of realizing that you weren't playing with AI is unlike anything I've experienced before or since. It almost felt fourth-wall breaking. I was still questioning whether or not it was a real person for a solid 10-15 minutes. I was doing all kinds of weird movement, making sounds and the like to see if they copied me, until I eventually had no doubt that it had to be a human. I remember getting to the very end and not wanting to follow my partner, who was seconds away from the light you walk into. They wound up coming back so we could walk in together (after one last round of jumps, noises and running circles around each other of course! ).

Honorable Mentions

• Resident Evil 7
  • It felt short and I was left wanting more, but it was fantastic. It's the most scared I've been playing a game since the original Resident Evil's. I honestly can't think of a game that has made me feel scared since RE1, 2 and 3. It was a great return to form (well, somewhat of a return at least) and I hope they continue the trend with RE8.
• The Last of Us
  • Only because I never finished it, had I done so it probably would have made my tope 10. It was fantastic and I really hope to revisit it one day.
• Rocket League
  • Can't tell you how any hours I've sunk into this. I've never had so much fun in a competitive sports-like video game. Total rush of adrenaline (and sometimes anger lol) and a go-to when I have a few minutes to kill but not enough time to get into something heavier.
• And I'm sure so, so many more but I've already spent too much time on this lmao...

That was one hell of a decade for video games! Here's to another even better 10 years in the 20's (it feel so weird to reference "the 20's" as a currently happening thing).
