This GTA III, San Andreas and Vice City Remake in Unreal Engine 5 Is the Real Deal

TeaserPlay recently shared some footage from their most recent project in Unreal Engine 5, which is the recreation of Grove Street, the iconic neighborhood from GTA San Andreas. The mod showcases both day and night in Grove Street with impressive visuals, high-quality textures, and amazing lighting.

A 3D model of CJ has also been used in this demo, which has been created by Hossein Diba. It’s not a MetaHuman project, but it looks absolutely detailed.

Unfortunately, this is not a playable project and the modder won’t publish this to the public as they could face serious problems afterward, regarding how aggressive Take-Two is towards modders. That being said, it’s still a great effort to show off the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5, and let the fans know what a next-gen Grand Theft Auto game would look like, though Rockstar will probably use its internal engine for developing GTA 6.

Thanks mods x2 for the title change

It does show how Rockstar could remake/get it remade to a higher standard than the turd they did produce. The assets are well made and if it's one person it's impressive work.

But:
  • Very few assets were used. The house one was used several times.
  • There are very few scenes of any movement other than the camera. Character movements are almost certainly baked in.
  • Some parts are just repeats.

of course rockstar could've done better but they choose the easiest/cheapiest option and that was outsourcing it to an amateur mobile studio and having them update the mobile versions of the game.

should've been a remake "from the ground up" but nah that would be too much work and money.

the definitive collection sold millions so Rockstar got away with it and made a lot of $ shame on the people who bought that trash and enables Rockstars shitty behaviour.

Is this yet another remake project that'll never see the light of day? Don't we already have too many of those?

You just know some Russian dude has his copy of SA modded to look like this with about 5000 mods and a crazy ENB

I can't wait for Remedy to remake Max Payne to this level of detail. I'm already dying for the game and it's only in the concept stages. Ugh.

This is the game design equivalent of someone drawing their favourite Sonic character to practice with their new art set. It should never be more than this. Don't be sucked in by the allure of more of it - it wouldn't work.

These demos are nice for remaking something universally recognised to show off a new engine, but you would very quickly learn that they would be horrible as a whole game. What you love is the idea of a remake because you love the original, but part of what made PS2 GTAs good is the way everything comes together. That includes the art style, which is lost in something like this. It seems like it would be good, but you would need to redo too much because you can't pair the game as it was with these visuals and so the soul of it would be gone. It wouldn't be San Andreas.

GTA Vice City in Unreal Engine 5 | What the Definitive Edition version should have been!

Recreation of Vice City in Unreal Engine 5 Exclusively by TeaserPlay, I used Lumen for rendering and my point in making this video was to show how powerful Unreal Engine 5 is for making sandbox games and what the remaster version of GTA Vice City should look like
