Its really funny to me, how Jade made her name with Ass Creed and since then shes just riding this fame, not producing one good game (most failed before being released)

She got snapped up ridiculously quick after her Stadia project fell through. Apparently she's done enough to be highly regarded in the industry.

So lets put this to rest, if this was the game that was being made under EA........now many of you know it wasn't simply just EA telling them to make this, its clear.....they want to make this game.

I'll wait for it to come out but I think this is Sony's first Gaas?
Destrution Allstars is a gaas too.

Is not that i have something against gaas games, i have been playing Genshin Impact every day since it launched and still love it. But when i hear about a new game being a gaas multiplayer game i just imagine something trying to copy Fortnite in one way or the other, and i bet my left nut there will be a character with pink and blue hair. I just cant get excited about that.

Will pass more judgment about the game when i actually see what it is about. But for now, zero interest in it with this news/rumor.

Maybe, maybe not.

The issue with the gaming community is they love throwing around those terms, GAAS literally can describe any online title that receives content, with such logic GT Sport fits that entire thing. I've seen gamers literally just trying to force the term on games they don't like, as if GAAS now means good or bad.

So how I see it, any online title by default is a Games As A Service because of the updates needed to keep it alive. Calling it a new name, doesn't change that this concept has existed in gaming for generations. Its why I thought it was strange that gamers kept arguing about Destiny being some new "trend" as if they NEVER heard of a MMO before.

Its a thing that lives on a server.

Updates come out for it paid and free over time.

.....thats pretty much most online games over the past several decades folks, I see no reason to try to add this twist as if what we are talking about is some radically different concept or something lol

I don't know why people keep assuming that all games as a service titles won't evolve into something unexpected and genuinely amazing.

uh oh.... there is increasing evidence that sony are about to go the way of western publishers chasing the GAAS online multiplayer crowd. if they find success there how long before they make less singe player games? im actually hoping these game fail and underperform for that reason. stick with what works for fucks sake. if all these rumours about multiplayer games coming from sony is true. im about the join the jim ryan hate bandwagon. throw in hermen hulst too.

Me too. But I'm not going to act like Sony doesn't need one of "these" games also. Everyone wants them to get into the online space heavier, so here you go.
Good point! People can't use "Ps HaS nO MuLtiplAyeR gAmeS" in their narrative after these games release

Please define what Game as a Service is? Halo Masterchief doesn't monetized new content over time to encourage players to continue paying to support the game. It doesn't have a revenue stream model.

Halo Masterchief isn't a Game as a Service.
literally any game that gets updates and content supplied continuously over time with elements designed to keep you engaged with the content. Whether it is free content or paid isn't too relevant. No Man's Sky is a live service game and has had all free updates as far as I'm aware. Assassin's Creed Odyssey has GaaS elements with season passes for the DLC content, daily and weekly quests that rotate out, etc, IIRC.

Pattern recognition - you know, that basic human cognitive process. If the overwhelming majority of {x} has historically been shit then assuming that some new {x} is likely shit is a rational response - and much less likely to lead to disappoinment.

all these studio partnerships, seems like hinting on PSPLUS or PSnow revamp.
These type of games was designed to retain the subscription base as you need an online infracstructure to access the game.

Leaving Ubisoft and EA to do Ubisoft and EA things.

I mean, I don't mean to be that guy, but doesn't this team seeking those publishers to do this, prove it was the TEAM that wanted to do this vs simply just EA and Ubisoft things? Maybe they wanted like minds and felt EA and Ubisoft would want the same things or something. Who knows.

I feel though both publishers support those ideas, they also support quality games regardless and maybe they didn't see enough from what they were working on to really continue development. Saying GAAS to EA or Ubisoft doesn't automatically mean they will support trash knowingly, maybe they didn't like what they saw and moved on. Sony is known to give lots of chances to new stuff and maybe they feel this is different enough from what they normally put out to have it fit and have a place.

So at least when this game is officially revealed, we know the TEAM ITSELF wanted this and wasn't forced by EA, Ubisoft or Sony to make it or something.

Not really surprising tbh. Sony's strength is single player games. They've got that locked down with their internal studios. GaaS is where they've struggled to find any success. So it makes sense that they're partnering with 3rd party studios and see if they can do something in that space.

Her track record is nothing.

Will wait to see what this game ends up being.

Pulling back my PS5 pre-order. Going to go PC this gen. No need to waste money on two gaming platform.

PC is enough. Also chances are Sony will release 1st party titles on PC too. Even if it doesn't happen then no biggie. Plenty games to enjoy.

Because most don't, for every 1 that does something great you have like 100 that are terrible. That being said I'm totally fine with them using a new studio for it instead of pulling too much attention away from one of their proven studios to do something like that.

First of all, since when Jade Raymond is relevant? Who cares?

Second, don't worry guys. This game is not for us. It's for millions of kids playing Fortnite.

The games we like are still coming.

PS since I started plaging Magic Arena I'm a GaaS believer.
