RDR2 was a memorable journey overall, but it was also a real pain in the ass a lot of the time. 50+hrs of clunkiness, tedium, frustration and monotony punctuated by great moments.

Almost every Sony exclusive is overrated. The only game that I truly love is Bloodborne. I also liked Spider-man.

On the other hand, I've never finished God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone and the rest of the exclusives.

I voted for Undertale. That game was just plain ass weird as fuck and I didn't get the appeal.

As for the others... While I didn't like many of them I did kinda understand why other people like them.

I usually don't have a lot of trouble understanding some of the appeal of popular games even though I don't like them myself, but Hollow Knight and Undertale very much challenged that notion.

Most exclusive games are overrated, not only from Sony. There are many "brand specialised" reviewers on metacritic that usually rate abve the average and there is a high chance that reviewers are in the perfect age to have grown up with a Nintendo or PlayStation and rate them higher because of childhood memories.

Witcher 3 and Uncharted 4 were my biggest letdowns, especially since I played and enjoyed the previous games in both respective franchises.

Other than Switch games, I think I have played most of them. None of them are bad per se, but I didn't connect with Monster Hunter: World, but mostly because it just not my kind of game. It does its own thing very well. Voted for Uncharted 4, because gameplay is outdated and repetitious, pacing is terrible and storywise it nearly undoes all the goodwill generated by excellent previous games. I still completed it, so it is not the end of the world.

I voted Animal Crossing, but only because I just don't get it. Glad other people enjoy it, but I'll never ever know why.

I knew what the biggest condenders for this would be. LoU2 I haven't played yet, because I want a PS5 version and don't want to pay twice, but I imagine this is more a reflection of it being touted as the second coming of Jesus and it isn't a reflection of the game's actual quality.

RDR2 might actually be my game of the generation. I said that at work once and people looked at me like I was mad. The way systems are built upon systems to create such a great world, and then the things they did in that world, is unreal.

I love a slow burner, and man I was impressed. The user reaction it got means we might never get a game like that again, and that really upsets me.

Glad OP added Undertale.

2 had a far better story but the gameplay was fucking ass.
I thought the gameplay post-patch (played on PC, so I'm unsure if console got it) was as serviceable as the gameplay in 1 and 3. The pace kinda felt like a Mass Effect or Dragon Age game, with a clean 3-act setup, and I liked that. Getting to a new map in W3 was like "oh great, now I have a few more square miles to comb through".

I played it on the xbox 360, it was impressive graphicwise as a port can't say the same about the gameplay lol. But yeah the open world for me felt more like a chore to go thru more than anything.

TLOU2 is underrated by people and overrated by critics.
My most overrated pick is RDR2. boring game with terrible restricted mission design. The only good thing about it is Arthur

Who the hell voted for Inside, Bloodborne or Sekiro !?

I would say Witcher 3 or Undertales just for being a dick with the fandom.
But in truth The last of last 2 take the crown.

BoTW for sure. For years I heard how amazing it is, but for me, it's probably my least favorite mainline Zelda game.

More accurate title would be:

Which game that you haven't played do you dislike the most because a lot of other people who have actually played it like it

I never played TLOU 1 or 2 so I can't opine about that but I definitely chose Zelda. Objectively I think it's a good game but it's not a masterpiece that some people make it out to be.

I voted RDR 2 out of the options listed.

Decent enough but can't say it really held my attention.

My real answer is Horizon Zero Dawn, though. Again, decent, but I found it hard to love. Aloy has no personality, and she and the game in general lack any sense of humour. It's all so earnest. And the names of the tribes etc are all so generic and cliched.

Plus the awfully limited climbing really wasted the opportunity to enjoy a wonderfully vertical open world.

And it's such a fucking pain the way you can't explore the world without getting pounced on by half a dozen machines. That really needs to be better balanced in the sequel.

It isn't in the polls, but has anyone played The Order 1886?
That game would still be overrated if it was a 3/10.

Other than that Zelda BOTW is clearly not the greatest Zelda game let alone greatest game ever made and while I like it the amount of praise it gets is unreal. Amazing game, but not a 9.9/10.

Also I think Horizon Zero Dawn is overrated. A solid 7/10. Maybe 8/10 if you don't mind empty open world time sink explorations and side quests.

Sadly Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain was a different story. The way Konami cheated reviewers was just nasty. I love Kojima and Metal Gear, but sadly it is an unfinished product and besides the gameplay and funkiness of Kojima it doesn't deserve the great scores.

Something more positive. A game I found to be extremely underrated is the amazing Prey (2017).

Love Zelda BOTW art style and scale but it’s not a masterpiece imo

After finishing TLOU2 last week I’m not on board with the 10/10 reviews either, more like a 7.5 to me. The pacing in particular was all over the place.

Changed my mind,,its defo TLoU2

The amount of 10/10 is just silly

Not a bad game, but its a 7/10, still a ok experience, but its no TLoU1

Going with Red Dead 2. Walking was like molasses in it, it was painful to go back to camp due to the slow traversal, and quest structure felt like a step back from the first. It's a 90/100 game, it just isn't god tier as so many made it out to be.

I didn't play some of the other games listed or my opinion might have changed for most overrated.

Everything is overrated at this point.

Now being serious, I think Animal Crossing and TLOUII are overrated. The other game close to it for me was Persona 5, but Royal fixed some of the issues I had with it, still I like P4 better. Maybe my persona beef with Persona is because I like Shin Megami Tensei more.

Between Zelda BotW and RDR2 for me. I just recently finished BotW and while it wasn't horrible, it had some horrible flaws, and really bad mechanics that shouldn't exist in a game in 2017.

RDR2 at times was great, other times very boring, but had terrible limitations and controls the whole way. Too many things done for "realism" that hinder the actual gameplay.

Stop voting for Zelda you fools. It's almost to underrated! Most fun i had playing this game for the entire gen.

On the other hand TLOU2 exists, way like waaaaaay to many 100/100 reviews.

I've been playing Animal Crossing NH almost daily since release, and it's overrated AF. The game itself is great by its calming aesthetic and sandbox quality, but from a game design perspective it's horrible. You would think years of different AC titles would give them an idea of quality of life/UI design. NOPE. Lemme talk to this NPC and go through like 10 prompts to sell something. I think it only enjoyed the kaboom it did since it launched right when a lot of people suddenly had a lot of free time from the quarantine lock down.

Anyway, going to go play some AC now, the overrated turd that it is...

I would say Fortnite, but From the list, I gotta say the last of us 2. Such a shitty pretty game. I couldn’t say BOTW because the game’s faults are lack of real dungeons, and breakable weapons imo.

People are you are the reason I voted for BotW.

"It's almost to underrated" my ass.

The Last of Us 2

It's a beautiful game both technically and artistically, but it has one of the WORST implementations of a non-linear narrative I've ever seen in my entire life, has an overbearingly nihilistic and even narcissistic tone (seriously, I've seen post-apocalyptic Russian films that are more optimistic and upbeat about humanity/the future than this), fails to successfully iterate/layer its main themes, and is manipulative upon the player to try forcing a non-genuine attachment to characters the game tries bashing over the player's head to accept, even at the cost of damaging the characterization of characters from the previous game to do so. We can call this a form of emotional manipulation.

Add to that the actual game mechanics aren't necessarily that more evolved over the first game (to the point where in game mechanics/gameplay terms you could consider it an expansion moreso than a sequel), and you've got a heavily story-driven game with a completely broken and bleakly dissatisfying story, and a large gamut of new, unlikable characters while the literal handful of actually likable new (and old) characters get the short end of the stick in one way or another, quite a few fatally. And the set-up and rationale/methodology behind them getting those short ends of the stick is where things truly fall apart, not necessarily them getting that short end of the stick in particular.

It's been rather repulsive to see games journalists licking the game's taint as if it's some masterpiece on the level of a Kubrick film or The Godfather, when at best it's more of a second-rate imitation of those types of works. The building blocks are there, but Neil couldn't assemble them into anything of greater meaning. And I think the user scores, ignoring the obvious troll-bait ones, reflect this more accurately. I think seeing actual reaction from many gamers, from small fries to a good number of notable game streamers...seeing their reactions to various events and choices in the game, says a lot more than most of the "critic reviews".

In a lot of ways TLOU2 is The Last Jedi of gaming, and you really don't want that kind of comparison xD.

Would have voted for this one if it weren't for TLOU2.
Harsh. I haven't played tlou2 yet... I'll wait until it's $20. Im going mostly blind but I don't have my hopes up.
I feel like it's the opposite of the Witcher 3. Plays great but the story kills the game.

The main reason why TLOU 2 was rated higher by the critics is because of SJW shills journalism.

TLOU2 is the epitome of rainbow political agenda the game.
