There I was in my room. My nine year old self just sat down after getting home from the local game rental shop. I push the Madden 95 cart in and power up. Shortly after I hear my mother yelling for me. "Wtf does she want?" I thought to myself. I hit the pause button and as I'm leaving my room the greatest single Genesis tune starts. I look back at my 23 inch console television in wonder. Why is this song here in the pause menu? Who wrote this?

I think about the composer every once in awhile and wonder if he ever got the recognition he or she deserves. I showed my musician cousin this last night and we must have jammed for a solid 10 minutes.

I remember when Madden released on the Amiga, that was a bit of a big deal back then seeing it was a big-hitter on the Genesis

That's actually pretty good; a lot of American Genesis games, outside of Sega's own (and even some of those suffered from this) just sucked wrinkly ass with their soundtracks because they used that terrible GEMS engine.

EA were one of the exceptions though, evidently. I think Haunting starring Poultryguy had some cool songs too.

Pretty good stuff. Yeah it's weird hearing this as a main menu song in a football game. This is a track I would see for a first level in an action game like Ghost'n'Goblins, or Bionic Commando.
