That picture is so purposefully deceptive. That's not its eyes.

Its eyes are in the higher up in the back cropped out.

And seeing the responses in this thread...We've been seeing close ups of ant faces for decades people. They look exactly how you think they look.

Jesus.

Antarctic scale worm

you-now-see-the-polychaete-worm-eulagisca-gigantea-which-was-extracted-from-the-depths-of-antarctic-ice-from-depths-of-520-670-m_preview.jpg

It’s head pops out of the body, then a first set of jaws open to reveal another xenomorphic set of jaws inside.

Why even bother searching for alien life, it’s right fucking here!
Huh.

I mean…

What… can you even do in Antarctica that needs that kind of anatomy?
This is an eldritch thing straight out of At the mountains of madness.

Although I'm no great fan of freaky insects, 99% of these photos can be completely disarmed by imagining them having the voice of Bob the (bad weather hating) Elephant from Little Big Adventure 2: Twinsen's Odyssey:

Ants faces don’t have any meaning other than the meaning a human assigns to it when looking at it. Humans convey information through their faces, including emotions. Ants do not.
