If you want a good arcade stick, you have to mod it to use a Brook UFB (Universal Fighting Board), because it will give you the best input lag in the market and will make it compatible with all current and previous gen consoles.

Madcatz TE were good in PS3, but PS3 controllers have extra lag in PS4 and aren't compatible with all PS4. And well, they don't work in your secondary console like a Switch.

I use a Madcatz TE with Brook UFB, brand new Sanwa buttons and stick. The stick is modded with a bat top, stronger spring and actuator because I grew up with the western arcade sticks in the arcades. It's an awesome experience.
which TE exactly ????

The championship edition upgrade includes all of the Darkstalkers costumes right?

This one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002WB20RQ/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_ldnqEbM53M6FT

Since you may change its buttons, pcb and stick what matters is that its case is cool to you. All these Madcatz are pretty similar

But in my case I also like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001M25AY6/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_ZenqEb16KTWM9

Yes, all crossover costumes and music tracks are included in SFV Champion Edition: all the ones from Darkstalkers, Resident Evil, Mega Man, Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter, Ghouls 'n Goblins, etc.

Here you have the non-complete SFVCE content list (you have to add default costumes and Tokyo 2020 training costumes for all characters, all DLC music tracks and Extra Battle -the crossover ones- music tracks, many CFN user profile icons and profile themes):

By completing for all characters the demonstrations, character stories, survival (easy and normal) and main story (plus Trials if you are skilled) you'll earn a lot of FM (Fight Money), in addition to the weekly missions and some random appeareance of Silver or Golden Soldiers in Extra Battle Mode during some weekends.

SFVCE includes all DLC available in the store (characters, stages, costumes, colors) and all the stuff you are able to unlock in the Extra Mode battle (crossover costumes and musics). So you won't need to spend FM in the shop or in Extra Battle, now you'll only be able to spend FM on Fighting Chance mode.

In this mode you'll be able to earn some additional classic (like for the 4 SF2 bosses) or crossover (like Cannon Spike) costumes, plus the EX6 and EX7 colors for default or story costumes, in addition to stuff like items for the Survival Mode.

Other than the Fighting Chance content, the only stuff not included in SFVCE is the Capcom Pro Tour DLCs (each one as a cool ring stage a color for defeault costumes and like 3 costumes), that they are only sold separatedly because their money goes directly to fund the eSports Capcom Pro Tour & Capcom Cup prize pools.

Decided to try and get back into it.
Game is fun. Online is very hit and miss. I think it's worse than I remember it. There are also netcode patches for PC that likely caused many PS4 players to exclude PC players. Also if you don't install one of the PC patches you may end up worse off playing against someone who has. I notice I get a good amount of rollback on 4 bar connections and 5 bar are rare. Maybe Capcom will patch online finally and revive the player base with CE? I feel like many players abandoned this game within the first year but are considering jumping back in now that it's actually finished, 4 years later :p.

The fan-made netcode patches create a worse experience for PS4 players and non-patched PC players who play online against a PC player. So the best option right now (until Capcom decides to release an official patch) is that when you are going to play online, disable crossplay in the battle settings. And if you are in PC, patch yourself.

Yeah thanks.
Also the two PC patches are incompatible. The fluffy patch works for crossplay but barely improves rollback.

What a shit show. If Capcom decides to patch this they better wipe clean everyone's block list and prevent any netcode mods on client side. Really hoping they will at least wipe away the custom patch stuff on Friday when they launch CE, if not it could really kill any momentum the CE will have and ruin their chances at reviving the game. :(

I really like the FANG character. I heard on the Eventhubs pod last week that in some alpha build of the game he was one of the darlings of the new cast and he was OP as fuck wrecking everyone, so they toned him down and now nobody touches him (prompted to write this by reading the CPT character usage data for this month, FANG dead last)

Also found out today that his name stands for Fantastic Asian Notorious Gang.

I hardly play online, but I'd still love to see netcode improvements. I also dont want the playbase to get split with PS4 users turning off cross play to avoid the negative consequences (real or perceived) of these PC netcode mods

Is all data going to be on disk or is it a season pass code like arcade edition with a base sf5 disk?
I've been told by a guy today that this time they included everything in the disk. But well, rememember that every time these guys do an important game update you have to download the entire game again.

Awesome news! Finally we'll get an official netcode patch next week!

If it works like the PC patch when both players had it installed but now with everybody it's going to be amazing. Nice to see they will do it on time to have it ready for the Intel Wolrd Open online qualifiers. I think it may be one of the biggest news for the game since release. With this and people having all the SFVCE content, and rebalance I'm pretty sure that the competitive scene and the overall number of active players in the game will see a great bump.

And well, the game sales too. If they achieve a great online performance, having SFVCE the game sales this year will be greatly benefited with the visibility that it will receive from evevnts like Intel World Open at Tokyo 2020 olympics.

Seems it may be vanilla SFV disk with a code.

Also as for the netcode "fix", I wouldn't get my hopes up quite yet. For all you know they could just patch out any of the custom netcode hacks and prevent such mods in the future. I certainly hope not. Hopefully they realized their embarrassing mistake, that they could have had perfectly working online this whole time if they had just gone through their code and fixed bugs, and they are able to implement Altimor's fix across PC and PS4 reliably. If this ends up happening, it would be a fitting finale to the shitshow dumpster fire that has been SFV, somehow culminating in a pretty great game.

I get the feeling CE won't have the usual UI/HUD refresh and we'll still be stuck with the current gold/white theme. At least give us the option to choose between vanilla and AE UI, Capcom! :messenger_pouting:

I think the UI looks fine all around. Now Guilty Gear Strive? I watched some video of that the other day and I may actually not buy it because of the UI, I find it that horrid looking.

It looks fine, but the constant gold theme around it got tiresome, maybe it's just me, but I feel gold is a special color that should be used for accents, not base your whole theme around it.

I kinda like the minimalist UI Strive is going for TBH, I'm not buying it if it doesn't have rollback netcode, though.

I don't think it's overused, I feel like it is primarily used for accents? And menu UI elements, off the top of my head, in matches it's only the lifebars that are heavy gold, and then that's gone the second you're hit.

Like it looks like just a cohesive accent colour to me.

^Accents

This is where I remember seeing it the most, and it's still not overuse in my opinion, this is your chosen theme colour standing out at the match start. After that, it's not like the whole screen is gilded:

All looks pretty good to me, I think it's a really tight and clean UI with nice colour choices.

The new GG looks so...amateurish, overly simplistic, and doesn't really gel with the rest of the game's stunning art style like it used to.

Pretty sure I'm not going to get CE. I think it's too expensive for me for what is being offered. Not into hundreds of costumes, stages would be nice but not essential for me, I am only lacking Falke, Gil, and Seth, and will be able to buy one of them with FM in the near future, so there's basically nothing here except for the new boxart that I'm interested in.

It's a great value for those who don't have the game, but there isn't much included here that's pushing me towards a purchase.

If you buy the game digitally (both SFVAE or SFVCE) it also will show all the DLC locked until you log in in-game online a first time to verify that your account bought this content.

Basically these DLC codes included in the disc, or the DLC ones you can buy digitally what they do is to activate for your account stuff that is incuded in the game (digitally or in the disc).

But in any case, every month or so the game receives a huge game update (as I remember the one from today is 20.13GB according to steam) that basically redownloads the game. Sometimes, instead of these huge updates they release some small patches.

So basically doesn't matter what it is in the disc itself, because you'll need an online connection to verify/activate that DLC content you got, and to update the game. Next week we'll get a netcode fix game update, and they'll do more updates during the next month for the tournament mode betas or final version.

We're in the 21st century and the games get post launch support fixing and adding cool stuff for free, which keeps the game fresh for a longer period of time. And thanks to it games continue getting support 4+ years after you bought the game.

All that video shows is that, once again, they pressed a new disc and sf5 ce is on it when you put the disc in; dunno what the anti consumer part is what you are referring to.

Is the point not that without an internet connection, the only difference between a day 1 vanilla disc and this one is the splash screen?

Well you still have all the balance changes and arcade mode, new survival etc.. So it's still not vanilla. But if that is what the point is, the we already knew that before sf5 was even released: only one disc needed to stay compatible with everyone.

An actual "new version" of the game with everthing -unlocked- offline would just be a ssf4 scenario and incompatible with the rest of the playerbase

congratulations! You’re technically right. It’s worse. It’s a tease without the piece of paper and an online connection

what a shitty anti consumer move capcom. I guess I’ll wait for the inevitable PS5 SFVST don’t call it a capcom back edition next year.
Vouchers...
I came to see this! ...and now I'm leaving.

See you guys in 5 years when they finally decide to release a complete edition on disk!

After datamining the SFVCE Seth update I ripped all the main illustrations, just in case you are interested in them:
-Arcade mode story and special endings (828MB) https://mega.nz/#!gdADhYyL!inSYAzLKfumqalrHmW-vogGckSDXt9GCBMYitB83xjY
-Character Stories artwork (2.5GB) https://mega.nz/#!9FZh0QrL!81gNUkYVNu19RCKWNheKF4mIjDEYnqtVHLO3CtbeANM
-Oher artwork (217MB) https://mega.nz/#!IZZhharT!Kcik3jqxka-rdpi3DaqNa-IbLRSuZ7NyDRw58fTCeoo

The only unannounced suspicious stuff I saw datamining were some new music themes, costume, and icons that made me think they may be related to an upcoming CPT2020 DLC. This is the list of the main stuff I found: https://justpaste.it/6zqg2

Btw, they did some gameplay tweaks, here's the oficial list: https://game.capcom.com/cfn/sfv/as/pdf/en/adjustmentsce202002ver.pdf?h=3f7063acde30b1d13093e1e49bd1f8bc&20191225_2

Let’s just slow down and look at it logically. I want a game that is compatible with me — player1 —and Ted my drunken neighbor (holding the second damn controller) player2. That’s the only player base that I was considering.

they could have made the online character unlock separate from the offline versus and the single player arcade story.

Software code is text. They could have made flags for this.

c’mon now. The game could have been for everyone. I’ve got Heroes of the storm if I wanted this F2P stuff.

Still hesitant about buying CE edition.
It's great value but if the netcode isn't fixed properly there will be a final exit and this game will just die in terms of easily finding online matches. A lot of people on reddit are planning on returning to the game contingent on the quality of the fix being promised next week. Capcom delivered on story mode and made the game better in many ways, let's see if they can bring it home.

I really feel like I don't need it now since my game Icon and splash page updated last night and say Champion Edition. I feel a weird obligation to upgrade, but it's like $35 for a couple characters I'm probably never going to use, and a bunch of fluff.

I wish they would have updated the UI a bit, but oh well no big deal.

Glad they were rejected, tbh. Current Seth is great.

Any of you guys play on PC on a 4k monitor/tv? I'm running into an issue with slowdown not related to graphic fidelity, but it does seem to be related to vsync. I can disable Vsync and the game runs great, but the screen tearing is absolutely terrible. I turn Vsync back on and the entire game runs in slow motion.

I had the same issue trying to play on a 4K TV. Turns out my PC was trying to force a 30 Hz signal to the TV, but the game wants to run at 60 Hz, so it ends up being you get slowdown 2x. Not sure why exactly enabling Vsync would do it, but try poking around in the output frequency settings or maybe enable vsync through the video card control center vs. within the game.

The first two don't really convey the character we know of as Seth in the slightest, the top one looks more like Sim and Elena, and the second one is something out of fucking Skullgirls. I quite like the look they landed on, substantially different but still recognizably Seth.

For anyone having trouble with seth's 9 trial, the input after vtrigger is: 4+punch, 3+punch. That's how you'll get the triple bounce you need.

Is the tearing even in borderless mode? I think my setup would bork even without Vsync, but 1440p runs pretty smooth on all options maxed.

Just a PSA that after the maintenance today ending at 11 PM EST the new netcode is supposed to be implemented, seemingly in response to various PC patches that fixed the netcode for PC players with the patch but borked crossplay. Best case scenario is they figured out how to implement the netcode across all platforms and SFV might actually get decent netcode for online.

Only laughed because I'm watching streams RN and seems like they just removed support for the patches and fixed none of the netcode.

Like, I'm actually in disbelief they did this. Like damn :pie_roffles:

It's pretty ridiculous. I was going through reddit and twitter and seems that's the case, though it's a little early, I would wait a little more.
But, just the other day I was chatting with people on reddit and we were laughing about how the worst thing Capcom could do is just patch the PC version to prevent any netcode fixes.
If this is true, this is probably the biggest dick move ever hahaha...glad I didn't get the CE, they won't see another cent from me. Can't say this was unexpected.

The update requires to delete the PC fan-made patch, it disconnects you if you try to use it. Just delete its 2 files, then "right click SFV in your Steam Library>Properties>Local Files>Verify integrity of local files"to restore the original files. Seems that the PC game now instead of using these .dll files now has the netcode inside the .exe, which means there won't be fan-made modes, cheats or exploits to create lag to the other players by modifying these dll files.

The PC update is ~63MB, and the PS4 one ~160MB. The PS4 version seems that also made some changes related to how the game is updated, now seems that requires the entire game instead of separate files, which sounds as another security upgrade to make sure players can't modify separated files in modded PS4 consoles.

I played 16 matches on base PS4 (so unlike in PS4 Slim, PS4 Pro or modern PCs only 2.4GHz wifi is available, no 5GHz), half of them with wifi, half of them wired. One match had more or less bad quality, other very bad and all the other ones pretty much perfect quality. I'm from Spain and the other players were from UK, France and Germany. Half of the matches were ranked (bronze/super bronze), half were casual.

I have to test it on PC wired and with wifi(where I have 5GHz 802.11n wifi).

There are similar impressions post official netcode fix here (post your own impressions there):
