A massive loss when you buy the diskless console, to them means another slave added to their digital storefront. It's totally worth it for them. Don't expect any ps5 digital games sales in the first 2 years, and very low discount on ps4 games, probably, during that period.

Edit: I doubt the loss is massive, but there is some loss.

U do realise psn has weekly sales ? Unless they change their operation , sales will start in the first 3 months for ps5 titles

As for loss , ps5 is around 520$ for sony
(470 Bom+manufacturing +shipping+storage+retailer cut)so 399 means around 120$ loss per console

we knew this was gonna be the case after MS announced their prices. Sony had to know they couldnt go over 499 in this economy, so this shouldn't have been a shocker to anyone. The new nvidia card prices also reflect this, at least partially

Aren't people kinda forgetting to factor in that Sony makes money off every game you buy?

You buy the PS5 for 500 and get three games along with it, Sony just made 600 off of you and didn't really lose money on the console.

I also expect PS Store sales to become worse or less frequent if the digital console develops a big share of sold PS5s, because they know that the more people buy the digital only console, the more people lose the ability to buy games off eBay or to buy the second hand.
