Seems like it's only the USA will cut VRR for it due to not being compatible with Xbox Series X and HDMI 2.1 forum VRR but compatible with PS5:

I believe there is too many theories right now.
I guess we need to wait the firmware to see how it will works.

Hoping this is correct for Australia

Not a deal breaker for me but would be nice to try out

Guys the fix is really coming. This is the latest report from a guy who has direct contact with some Sony engineers. I'm leaving the video at the moment of the reveal:

Sony UK itself confirmed it is coming.

Good news if true. WTF was marketing/customer support thinking. They still missed the next gen console release window but better late than never.

Good VRR has been confirmed, still happy with the 55" be it SDR or HDR - coming from an ancient LG-Panel, Days Gone looked insane for experiencing HDR the 1st time.
Besides the PS5 there's a 2070 hooked up, let's see how VRR fares with that 2.0 port.

VRR is important but ESPECIALLY important for consoles as standard on consoles is 30fps ish
VRR mostly matters when frame rates are unstable or unlocked as it helps with preventing screen tearing and judder. A lot of console games have locked frame rates these days, so that's a bit less of an issue than PC gaming with unlocked frame rates. Especially this gen were it seems like locked 30fps quality modes will be a pretty standard option as I wouldn't expect a lot of drops in those modes vs the 60 or 120fps modes--time will tell though.

Personally, it's not something I really care about as I've never been fussy about frame rates, tearing etc. unless it's really hideous. And that's pretty rare in the AAA console games I play and with me just in general not being sensitive to that kind of thing. As I've said, the 2.1 features didn't really factor into my X900H purchases. I just didn't see another well reviewed name brand 4k/hdr TV under $1k for a 65" so I'm pleased with my purchase regardless of how the VRR thing pans out.

Why quote yourself being wrong?
I wasn't wrong. At the time of the post, the LG TV has more actual features while the Sony had merely promised features in the future. At the current time, it's still the same. The next gen consoles are already out and anyone who bought the Sony for VRR is missing out, which is my point.

Thank God I kept my 65" I got for $960 from Costco! VRR is the only thing I really want out of 2.1. At some point these new consoles will struggle to get up to 60fps, and you'll want the VRR for when they get into the 50s or even 40s in a few years.

Unless you have a ps5, as it's not enabled on there yet.

Personally I hope devs keep building in the option for a locked 30fps mode with higher resolution and more graphics bells and whistles. I’ll take that over unstable 60 FPS and/or too much trade off in graphics/resolution pretty much every time.

Nah, he's a good guy. Actually, if someone to blame, it's Sony for not communicating good. Also he pushed their hands with that chaos.
But the Sony words on site are still the same “late firmware”... I checked different languages sites and all of them had the same thing in the TV specs page.

They never changed it...

The chaos only existed after he created it on his YouTube channel. He took the situation of the firmware not being ready yet to create conspiracy theories.

Sony always said these features will come on “future firmware update”... they were clear about that since the announce of the TVs.

Edit - I forget to say the timing... he made up the video for exactly when Sony announced the 2021 versions with full HDMI 2.1 support... magic coincidence.

He's been pushing people to buy X900H for months now, favoring it as the best bang for the buck. What happened is caused by Sony USA support team, they fucked it up. It's good though to keep corporates in check. I love Sony so much that if there is a country called Sony I might migrate there, but doesn't mean we should give them a pass.

Although he's not as professional as Vincent Teoh from HDTVtest, Vincent doesn't fall for TCL bullshit and other buzz words, especially after X900H smashed Samsung Q90T and was pretty close to LG CX and beating it in motion control and other parts, imagine what the A90J OLED or even X95J gonna do now, or even X90J. Samsung cheaply crushing details for fake blacks or washed out game mode doesn't go past Vincent.

mod edit: updated as per developments

So I'm guessing a fair amount of people on GAF bought this TV for the PS5,specifically for the features and 'PS5 ready' advertisments. The TV was meant to support 4K/120Hz but had severe blurring issues acknowledged by Sony

So eventually, they released firmware version 6.0414 in order to resolve this specific issue (4K/120Hz only). It improved it significantly in most cases, but there are still issues that become more evident with distance/angle of viewing.

That's where most of us are now, waiting for the promised ALLM/VRR update which is supposedly due in Spring. However, various customer service chats has led many people to believe the features are no longer coming and the specific references are being removed from promotional material. Sony committed to these features being enabled by firmware which is still there on some regional sites but has been removed from others

But still remains on the SKU features

Polygon originally picked up this with 4K/120Hz with VRR and ALLM coming later. Reddit is blowing up with and rtings as well. Pretty shitty move if it's true. Rtins has also picked it up and reached out to Sony (https://www.rtings.com/tv/discussio...fficially-concedes-vrr-and-allm-is-cancelled_

Reddit.... LOLZ

Is it available to consumers? No.

Is it late? Yes.

Is it good futureproofing? No.

Do alternative options already have this feature? Yes.

I was right.
YES
NO it was activated when PS5 launched
No other TV *currently uses this form of VRR
Nope I can see you didn't watch the video.

The blur reports are weird to me. I’ve only played R6, BL3 and CoD at 120 on mine but there is zero blur. Maybe that’s a PC problem?
In all fairness too though I bought the tv and just use it. I’m not in search of issues. No time for that shit.
The Blur is a PC issue.
Gears Of War 5 XSX and every PS5 game I tested doesn't exhibit a blur.
Keep in mind the 4K/120 console games aren't using as high of a resolution nor details as the 4K/60 versions.
But this is the games not the consoles.
When I tried my PC's I did see a bit of blur with 120 fps content and the desktop.

Yeah all reports are talking about PC blur, not consoles. Thanks for sharing.

This magical VRR that only works with Sony PS5s and Sony TVs needs to be demonstrated before I believe it so excuse me if I don't take their word for it.

Besides, that's not the VRR implementation that we're originally talking about. Stop moving the goalposts.

Other TVs have better features for next gen gaming, and the Sony X900H still only has promises of features. That's my point, and it's true.

S0ULZB0URNE S0ULZB0URNE the guy is right. X90H is a wonderful tv, with a great price that makes it a bargain. But as we stand, LG CX has the full package, even compared to X90J as it has Freesync Premium and G-Sync as well. I would rather get Sony A90J though, and I think it's the better choice for me with a small sacrafice for Freesync Premium and G-Sync due to its better processing and IQ, would even rather go for X90J or X95J.

But there is no right or wrong about it, each one has his preferences and needs, and as we stand now LG CX is the best gaming TV to date.

This is why without any official statement, people should not jump to conclusions. So much outrage for nothing
Well, we really can't say that. We just don't know if Sony wanted to cut those features (because new TVs were coming) and than thought again about that topic because of the backlash they've got.
After all Sony USA Support (and as far as I know France) did confirm the whole thing and that's why it boiled up.

Well, great price yes, wonderfull ... well it has many, many bugs (like missing sound when you switch to HDMI channels that reappears if you restart the TV or start e.g. a youtube video).
It is a 10 bit panel, but color banding totally visible (my old 10bit LG tv hadn't have that issue). And it has Android TV ... I really wish back the WebOs, didn't know that androidTV was so limited.
And the TV ignores to switch on and off my samsung soundbar. Only Sony stuff works :(. Why are there standards if most manufactures ignores them?
