Sony has announced a new initiative aimed at increasing transparency and enabling players to make more informed purchasing decisions accessibility-wise. In a new global update this week, developers will be able to provide comprehensive information about the accessibility features supported in their titles through a new feature to be integrated into all PlayStation 5 hub areas and stores known as 'Accessibility Tags'.

Gone are the days of having to download entire games to verify their accessibility features. Now, with the simple click of a "triangle" button on the game's external listing, players can browse the list of accessibility options provided by games that support these new tags.

Whether you're looking for visual cues, button remapping, subtitle colors, or audio directional indicators, you can easily check the availability of these features without having to go through the cumbersome process of downloading 70 GB+ games or scouring endless web pages for answers.

Most, if not all, Sony-exclusive games will add accessibility tags when the update rolls out. Sony has also stated that it's currently working with a wide range of developers to implement this feature in their game hubs on the PS5 in the coming weeks and months.

These features should work in tandem (as mentioned in the article) with the PS5's own accessibility features, such as the ability to zoom in on any area of the screen when the DualSense PS button is held down, or enabling gimmicks like closed captioning and chat transcription.
