Sony will not be in TGS, leaving Microsoft as only console manufacturer with an event. Sony will sponsor indies instead.

Shame that a cornerstone of the industry like Sony would be such absent bitches. Seriously, they owe gamers/gaming better than to hide behind their past success.

The industry is better when Sony takes it seriously. Sadly, under the Ryan regime, they don’t. Shame for the industry, for the gamers, and gaming overall.

So much for being “for the gamers“ eh, Sony.

Doing tree houses and state of plays is fine. Though I think having a physical presence at gaming events is also highly beneficial for fans, a nice gesture of appreciation.
They don't care anymore, let's be honest, platform holders feel like they've outgrown them.

Sony hasn't bothered properly for a while now, they're more bothered about state of plays and whatever in sep.

Ms does them with Beth, outside of E3, then shows up as smaller events with day1 stuff, such as gamescom.

Ninty is a wildcard who goes "Heyyyy, this what we have!" Whenever they want. Could be TGS, Gamescom, dorito popes properganda or e3. They simply don't care.

The reason Nintendo moved on from conferences had nothing to do with outgrowing them, which is something the fans have peddled since the start to defend the decision. it was made because Nintendo kept screwing them up, cringe, waggle, tech issues on stage, poor scripting, and several other negatives and Nintendo moved to direct to have small talk on games and just show the gameeplay afterward or the trailer and then closeout.

Sony didn't start moving away from conferences until two bad E3's in a row, the worst being E3 2018. They produced their own conference which they expected to be so big they actually had it play at theaters as an option which didn't work out, but they got enough views and engagement to where they do these periodic streaming events that work out, but they are still restricting their reach by not showing up at least at one event as well.

With that said, the streams have an audience and they can control the narrative and messaging better if they use their own streams so they won't be going anywhere.

About E3 though they say it's being revamped and will change how it works, so maybe that will get Sony and Nintendo to jump back in.

Ninty left e3 originally for confrences in what? 07 maybe? Am abit hazy. Since then they've ran off with the switch and done occasional recorded tree house events?

Afaik Sony was in strong last few times they bothered to turn up for E3, then management changed and they've gone to......this?

I can't see either going back to e3 now. I remember e3 going to press only when I was younger, Sony & Ninty stuck with it. Then Ninty left saying it was bollocks. Then Sony left when it was open door (somewhat) prior to covid.

Ms will keep doing the press conferences with Beth, which was probably the right thing to do at the time. But e3 is irrelevant now. I see more buzz for dorito popes summer thingy and let's be honest, our hangovers rate better than summer games fest.

A killer instinct vs. street fighter would be insane.

Killer Instinct is more violent than Tekken, and it took awhile before Capcom let SF X Tekken get greenlit, so I don't think that's ever going to happen.

These events are dying out. Some more slowly than others.

Don't know what stats you're looking at buy Gamescom was huge, and TGS already has a big number of reserves. If E3's change up results in high views and physical attendance too than events will be bigger than ever across the board. Even CES saw a jump.
