Not sure why that video creator did so much work to get wrong results TBH

Hmm I don't know man A lot of big sites like IGN and such do put Tetris at the top, remember that anyone can edit in wikipedia

It's pretty much an impossible list to make.

It's often years in between data updates for franchises.

So take Bioshock for example. If the last reported sales figure for that franchise was a few years ago who knows how many it sold since then.

Only possible way to do this would be of all major companies released detailed sales reports every year or every quarter.

Without that it'll always be highly inaccurate.

Uh, you're comparing a list of the best -selling franchises to a list of the best-selling individual games.

Also, the difference between the list in the Wikipedia page and the list in the OP seems to be a function of how the different franchises are defined. Wikipedia treats all Mario games as a single franchise and the video sorts them into multiple franchises.

That's because Wikipedia is including the Mario series as a whole, whereas IGN is separating the spin-offs from the main series.

I think the numbers come from VGchartz which would explain the separation of the Mario and Wii franchises and the combination of Rayman with Raving Rabbids.

I stopped reading there.
Yeah that's the one that was making me go "wait what!?"
