Kotaku on Assassin's Creed Syndicate

- I downloaded Syndicate to my PS5 a few days ago and was pleased to see it load up at all. When the title
screen appeared, so did a warning:

You might experience unexpected game behavior while playing this PS4 game on your PS5 console

the game world is all there, looking quite spectacular as assassin Evie Frye moves through it, but there’s a
weird issue with many of the shadows, which flicker in a way that I don’t think I could get used to.

GameSpot on Resident Evil 7 and Batman: Arkham City

- Starting up Resident Evil 7, we immediately noticed a visual glitch dominating the sky above the
Bakers' house. Instead of the hazy clouds blocking out the Louisiana sun, the sky looked like an oil
painting. This same glitch appeared even after restarting and reloading the game on two different
consoles. Thankfully, this was the most noticeable issue in our testing

- Batman: Return to Arkham put up a poor performance in Arkham City's open world on the PS4. Starting
it up on the PS5, the system flashed a warning message, specifically stating this game may not behave
correctly on the new console. Batman: Return to Arkham was the only game that we came across to display
this message, but all we noticed in terms of bizarre behavior was one graphical glitch that made Batman's
mask look like crumpled paper

Oh no how is this even possible? This is why don't should not waste time with old games like this

So Sony aren't capable of doing proper bc like the competitors.

Hopefully they get it right.

What the fuck does a Karen have to do with anything are you five years old or something?
The competition... so not Nintendo i guess, at least from my WiiU perspective playing N64 VC games.

You know, there's a warning for some games on PS5. Not like it can't get fixed.

Company says that the product is incompatible with some things.... Consumer starts questioning if it is acceptable or not....

It's a meme.... It's kinda old.... Lighten up old man. :messenger_winking_tongue:

The fact you think every bc game will run fine on the SX is laughable. There will always be some games that have problems.

Why? As far as I know the os is more or less the same, just with newer hardware.

When you buy a new pc you'd expect to makes previous games on them.

It wasn't supposed to be a ps vs xbox post. What I tried to point out is it should work, and hopefully it eventually will.

That's rather disappointing, given how well we've heard it performs. I suspect once we're a few patches in, this will be a thing of the past. Microsoft had to revisit Halo Reach a couple of times to get it right, and used it as the test case to improve their whole BC system.

Not wanting broken games makes you a Karen? What?
Sony literally warns you that it might have issues. The Xbox has been reported to be crashing several backwards compatible games. These issues are understandable except Microsoft doesn't warn you and acts like their system can handle all back compat flawlessly. At least Sony is honest about it.

Ok. But Gravity Rush 1 and 2 run fine??

Because is my only interesting game to play it
Funny - that I just bought the Gravity Rush remastered from PSN and it plays nice on PS5, 60fps on my C7 oled. Haven’t installed GR2 - heard that fps is locked at 30fps though, but could be wrong.

Oh boy, you ain’t winning that argument! Because a LOT of older PC games have problems with new hardware, and it’s common. Like, pulling on straws here man.

99% percent of the games work flawlessly and even better than on ps4, yet when that 1% show up you guys blame Sony? Lol, it's clearly the game that needs a patch.
I remember that ps1 games that didn't work on ps2 were clearly games developed not following dev guidelines, even devs admitted that.

It's not like they can't. More like "no one wants to invest in it".

Many games from that list will be patched at least to fix glitches, the lifetime of current games are bigger than older gens because digital sales.

I dont expect patches for getting more performance or removing 30fps cap, but surely that kind of bugs probably will be patched.

Which is also an excuse if you literally can't.
"we don't want to invest in bc cus no one wants it. But stream them from ps now with a monthly fee"
I feel same pain. But Sony strangely ignores some important things from fanbase. They gave us Last Guardian, FF7 Remake and Shenmue +4 GB additional RAM on PS4, and that was spectacular. But forget to add Pro/PS5 patch for Bloodborne and Driveclub and just ignored 1440p support on Pro/PS5. It's beyond my understanding. My only suspicion that they fired/forget Evo Studios, and lose fucking source code for Bloodborne.

Post proof.

Just to be "That Guy" (And I wanted to know), there is a possibility that ~4.79% of PS4 games will either not work or display graphical errors.

0.33% Straight up don't work and 4.46% , apparently have this warning on boot "When playing on PS5, this game may exhibit errors or unexpected behaviour and some features available on PS4 may be absent. "

So, now you know.

Its pretty stupid compare PS3 and PS4 BC. PS3 is a hell to emulate. People saying there are emulators on "PC", is right and wrong. There are much bugs and problems with PS3 emulation on PC, you need a machine with 5ghz CPU.

Sony wouldn't release a broken emulation. If Sony will let that BC in the future, will be with curated games like MS did. I could see PSNow games locally emulated in the future, but I wouldn't expect you insert any disk from PS3 you have.
