This was probably thier best option. While having symmetrical hardware is ideal, the low cost model let's them have a price niche. It would be difficult to go directly against the ps5 discless.

Also it allows them to distinguish between products better and target a wider group of consumers. The series S price and product aesthetics seems like it could better attract non committal buyers where as the discless ps5 buyers just mostly overlap with the disc featured ps5. If the proof of concept can hold where resolution is what's primarily being scaled and the experience is good enough then it will have been the best direction.

Series S is so well designed for the specifications of being scaled back and low cost. The holistic approach that given a lower rendering resolution target they then knew they could scale back textures so less ram would be necessary but also because they are lower memory, less bandwidth also would be necessary. It's very optimized for the target spec.

If you could read I’ve already said HUKD and StockInformer is all the proof needed.

And yes I am disputing ‘a single month’ or however you want to phrase it, the truth is important to me I suppose (start of Feb to end of Mar is 60 days-ish).

That post got 1600 degrees heat on the 9th March and was just a Series S at RRP. If they were readily available that deep in to March, why would that deal be scorching hot?
They are becoming much more available now but I can confirm they sold out quite a bit during those months. They have been the more easily accessible consoles but I would put the stock on par with the Nintendo switch. When I went to get one I had to buy mine from ebay.

No one is struggling too much for a Series S now that is true but it's a budget option. Again from release till Christmas they were being scooped up and stock was low.

I get this place is infested with sony fans but Jesus Christ I've never seen so much FUD

That's your proof? It's a bit weak.

This dated 10th Feb just about reached 200 degrees, looks to be others like that as well.. (and look what they had to bundle with it).

https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/mi...-512-gb-ssd-ps269-delivered-at-currys-3665645

Stock normally isn't available long enough to be posted up on HotUKDeals.

Maybe you just take the L and move on, unless got any better proof, better hills to die on.

Well I'm not sure about the UK but here is a tracker that might show stock history in the USA https://www.nowinstock.net/videogaming/consoles/microsoftxboxseriesx/full_history.php

Utter nonsense.

When a deal expires (e.g the item is sold out) you can’t vote on it any more. The third comment on that thread says ‘it’s sold out’ so it was in stock very briefly, got 200 degrees heat, and then was sold out.

Take the L? :messenger_tears_of_joy: You Fortnite child.

Even funnier! The 5th comment says ‘not even 2 minutes up and it’s gone’ and you couldn’t even be arsed reading it!? Lmao

Because scalpers couldnt make too much money on it when it's designed as a budget option what do you expect? Around Christmas it was a different story due to demand but scalpers can't sell them for over £300 If you're gonna overpay you are going to get an XSX or a PS5.

It wasn't in stock when I went looking for mine I had to wait 3 weeks.
What do you mean 'what do I expect'?

You guys are the one's trying to tell people that this is a console for the casual market when the FACT is that it has been readily available since the end of February...... 3 months after release.

It's not selling out, it's been there. Casuals aren't buying it.
Yeah, ‘right now’ isn’t what’s being discussed and if by ‘many months’ you mean 1-2 months, then you are right. If you mean ‘since February’ then you’d be full of shit, like the other guy.

I'm full of shit for providing facts but your 'he say she say' shit is gospel.

Yeah please........... still waiting for all the sold out evidence you were going to provide......

:messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: You’re just wrong mate and I have provided evidence that it was scarce in March, unlike you, who’s provided fuck all.

The only ‘facts’ you’ve provided so far is that you can easily buy one today (and that you’re a very low IQ individual).

So stupid, yet so argumentative.

Watch how a little bit of proof and research and evidence debunks your stupidity.

You realise in the UK these retailers inform the national papers when they have stock of items right? These news papers then provide links and updates on their sites so people can purchase the console right?

Read these links.... look at the dates

January

Remember when I said end of February that they would be available..... oh yeah.

March

Huh? Series S bundles are avaliable and they are talking about it being avaliable at retailers that I listed? Can't be.......

April

There's a great line in there for idiots like you, don't worry I'll quote it for you.

"If you're looking to purchase an Xbox Series S instead of an X then the good news is you have a number of options available."

Now, there's my proof backed up by actual facts.

Now please, show me all this sold out Series S stock.... I'll wait......
:messenger_tears_of_joy: You’ve proved you read the Daily Express (but not very well?).

Have you even read the links you’ve posted? You’re arguing it’s been ‘readily available’ since February yet your own post debunks this :messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy:

From your 22nd March Express link; Console hunters can head over to GAME UK or Amazon UK to buy an Xbox Series S console today, March 20. At least one more Xbox Series S stock update is expected before the end of the month, with Argos, GAME and Smyths the most likely.

So 2 retailers had it in stock on the 20th March. Thanks for sharing.

There's a great line in there for idiots like you, don't worry I'll quote it for you.

"If you're looking to purchase an Xbox Series S instead of an X then the good news is you have a number of options available."

That’s from the April link you melt, not the February or March one :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:

They have only become freely available in the last couple of weeks, I had to wait until a Curry's drop to get my second last month. They seem to be freely available now then and I'm glad they are it's better to have something people can buy.

You're insane. All this over a console lol

You can't provide proof yet it shows on the trackers how quick they are out of stock. I could not get one between March and April. Not that I give a shit considering it's a budget option. No one is saying it has a scalper issue like the other consoles and gpus. It is much more readily available but it is selling.

Also Nintendo switch has the same kind of stock level as the Series S and yet it's the best selling console. All the consoles are selling well infact albeit it's hard to find a PS5 and XSX at the moment. Still I think the Series S is well received just check out its subreddit for people's experiences.

Show me where I have said this:

Why are you making shit up now. Are you that desperate? Another one of your attempts to twist arguments suit your weird narrative.

You've actually resorted to making stuff up now :messenger_tears_of_joy: Wow. It's hardly surprising since you're a proven liar dude, I guess that's another one to add to the list.

Unless able to show me exactly where I have said that. Exact quote, as context is important in these scenarios.

As for the main jist of your post, that's all wrong as well. Casuals bought into those consoles day one. There was hype attached to them, they captured people's imagination. They were well marketed.

But your obsession with this, to the point of putting fake words into people's mouths, is absurd.

But do show me where I've said this.. The exact quote. You won't though, since it's bullshit.

Cheeky boy.

Dude you were the one searching, scouring the forums and internet to find evidence to support your ridiculous claims about the XSS. You regularly ignore any dev that says the opposite of your beliefs even arguing about the word 'significant' when a dev said it wouldn't pose issues. Go on and back off your predictions it does not matter to me. I will continue to stand by my observations that the XSS has not been fully utilized and any idea that it will perform worse was always a silly notion.

Where do you land now? That the XSS will continue to improve as developers get familiar with the hardware and use its features? Wouldn't that be a unique perspective!
Casual gamers are buying a Switch and playing mobile games.
How long has the Switch been out? Does Nintendo offer a 'high end' model? The Switch is basically the next Game boy at this point. It's not a discussion about causal and hard core its about Nintendo games and portability. Switch has no relevance to the XSS outside of them both being the same price.

My own link March link that you quoted:

And the news is that if you were waiting for the chance to buy an Xbox Series X console, something should be coming this week.

At least one more Xbox Series S stock update is expected before the end of the month, with Argos, GAME and Smyths the most likely.

The Microsoft Store may also be another place to check before April, as this has also received a number of updates in March.
If you actually read the article further you would of known that they had stock throughout MARCH and were planning to have EVEN MORE that same month.

AND the retailers in the article are from:

AMAZON
ARGOS
GAME
SMYTHS
MICROSOFT STORE

To further heighten your stupidity, from the APRIL link I posted

If you're looking to purchase an Xbox Series S instead of an X then the good news is you have a number of options available.
Currys right now has stock of the Xbox Series S console on its own, priced at £249.

Or the retailer has a range of bundles available such as an Xbox Series S and an extra controller for £299.

AO also has stock of the Xbox Series S while ShopTo are taking back orders for the Xbox Series S as well.

The stupidity.... good grief.

A better launch lineup of games that looked like ones that came out 5 years prior. And it's generally the hardcore that buy the system at launch, and why the wii u failed. And it's possible the X could have stalled due to that lack of software without the hardware shortages and covid.

Yes, its just a dumb name, that's basically universally accepted by 90% of gamers, time to accept that.

I can assure you apple looks at all competition when they generate thier hardware and thier pricing. Half the market not being thiers is a far cry from how you portrayed it, its like saying Sony doesn't account for ms and Nintendo when they bring products to market.
>A better launch lineup of games that looked like ones that came out 5 years prior.

But that’s not really true. The Wii was closer to a GameCube in power while the Wii U was slightly more powerful than the 360. The switch is less powerful than the ps4 and Xbox one by a significant amount and games on it look marginally better than the Wii U’s but it’s selling like crazy. The series x entire line up is playable on an Xbox one with resolution and framerate being the biggest differences.

>And it's generally the hardcore that buy the system at launch, and why the wii u failed. And it's possible the X could have stalled due to that lack of software without the hardware shortages and COVID.

It’s a pretty widely cited reason that the largest issue with the Wii U was people thought it was a small rehash or an accessory to the Wii.

>Yes, its just a dumb name, that's basically universally accepted by 90% of gamers, time to accept that.

Why would I accept your dog shit, made up statistic? It’s one of the most recognizable brandings in gaming. Even parents that didn’t care could remember the name.

>I can assure you apple looks at all competition when they generate thier hardware and thier pricing.

Not denying that. Simply pointing out we’ve yet to see them have to fight an uphill battle in the tablet market since the launch of the iPad.
Half the market not being thiers is a far cry from how you portrayed it, its like saying Sony doesn't account for ms and Nintendo when they bring products to market.

>Half the market not being thiers is a far cry from how you portrayed it, its like saying Sony doesn't account for ms and Nintendo when they bring products to market.

Well like I said they sell 50-70 percent of the worlds tablets a year, they just have a smaller market share due to preexistent owners of old android tablets.

And again they definitely do account for Microsoft and Nintendo, but they obviously still don’t respond to every move. Sony’s yet to respond to gamepass in any real hurry, they didn’t ship a Kinect like device with the ps4, they didn’t make an elite like controller, and they don’t seem to give a shit about the releases of MS exclusives at all.

Actually Riky Riky found all the positive comments and I addressed them.

Basically, I agree with those developers too, it's right there in my post history.

So nope, not ignoring positive comments. How is your narrative going to adjust to that?

I'm not surprised you didn't find a single post of mine where I have made a claim or prediction about this. Because it didn't happen. When you lie blatantly there tends to be no evidence.

It's just something that I'm used to now, you make up stuff to fit your one sided narrative, it's no wonder no one takes your seriously.

But putting words in people's mouths is a new low for you dude. Do better. Quit the lying.

I impulse bought an S last week - it's the only next gen console I've seen "in the wild" to date - with the intention of upgrading to an X down the road when stock catches up to demand. So far I'm really liking it - whisper quiet, insanely fast, and games looks great upscaled on my 4K tv (even though I know it's not native 4K). Biggest drawback so far is the lack of HDD space, I can fit a bunch of older titles but anything current is limited to like 3-4 at a time.

Wrong, I did.

Take your own advice from earlier dude and use the search.

I have no difficulty believing a racing game like Dirt 5 and similarly with MotoGP are difficult on Series S. 100% believe them. There is no ray-tracing in both after all and is a genre that typically doesn't push hardware much, unlike a Gran Turismo for example.

I love Ori, artistically wonderful, I can't imagine stretches the console. Do you?

Please tell me where I'm wrong and why.

Scorn, wasn't he the guy who set fire to his PS5 and posted it on Twitter blaming build quality?
If so, went over that too.

No he wasn't.
There is no Ray tracing on Dirt 5 on any console so that proves nothing.
What you believe is irrelevant, all six of those developers said they had no problems with Series S.

Of course it isn't relevant. Why would it it? Why would you even bring that up.

Whole point is they have no problems with Series S now, they aren't even pushing it. They only seem to care about a good frame rate at the moment.

Dirt 5, doesn't look next gen.
Ori, it's also been released on the Switch recently.

Why would those titles be taxing for the Series S? It would be very worrying if they did say they struggled.

On the other side of the argument the Metro guys did push it and they see a problem with the memory which is going to be problematic as the generation develops. They used a lot of the DirextX12U toolkit as well. Something which was disputed.

And they have made that prediction. If their quote annoys you, should contact them.

I'm going off developer quotes and the context. Certainly wouldn't be foolish enough to make any predictions, unlike some idiots here would have you believe.

But the bad stuff being said right now, does seem have more merit based on titles being worked on.

all six of those developers said they had no problems with Series S.
They weren't even all developers, let's make that clear..

One was a producer, who couldn't tell difference between raytracing on or off.

One set fire to his PS5 and tried score points off Twitter, apparently.

But all in all, agree with them.

It doesn't annoy me personally, I'm happy with my Series S.
Dirt 5 doesn't "look good" but runs at 120hz at launch on Series S or at 1440p if you prefer image quality. They did what Jason Ronald said developers should do when he answered the Devs you quoted, lower resolution, use DRS or drop visual features that do not affect core gameplay like Ray Tracing for example.
The Metro Devs have a Series S game out very soon, let's see how their words hold up against the result.

How long has the Switch been out? Does Nintendo offer a 'high end' model? The Switch is basically the next Game boy at this point. It's not a discussion about causal and hard core its about Nintendo games and portability. Switch has no relevance to the XSS outside of them both being the same price.
Phil Spence said they are competing with Netflix. Anything that takes away your customer's time is a competitor, and that includes the Switch. Microsoft is trying to do portability with Xcloud on mobile devices, so don't pretend they are not trying to compete.

Contrary to your belief, casual gamers are not price-sensitive, they are value-sensitive.

Don't mistake casual gamers for cheap gamers. People have to make decisions all the time on value when they purchase a home, a car, a phone or even a donut. Series X and PS5 are more expensive sure, but it's also good value and more future-proof.

Series S availability means MS will win more months. PS5 stock seems to be going to China.
I see the being a big factor as supply remains constrained.

If you're dying to get a new console and all that is available is a series s, you may eventually break down and buy it. Then you're invested in that ecosystem even if you still want a PlayStation and are less likely to swap on a whim once you are locked in with subscriptions and a library, peripherals, etc.

High demand and low supply of PlayStations may be a boon for Xbox over the next year.

Wii U was in the same power/graphics range as the 360 - but came out exactly 7 years later.....and you wonder why people were not lining up to buy it? Holy cow man. Of course it affected who would go out an buy it. The switch cannot be compared, the reason people were willing to accept it's weak power level is that it was a portable. Do you really think if the switch launched as a home system only it would have sold more than 10 million units?

Yes people were confused about Wii U, but many hardcore gamers simply refused as it offered them nothing new in terms of graphics.

As to the same, go ask 20 people on the street what a WII U is, I bet like 1 or 2 have any idea WTF it is. You don't believe me? Note the tile of the article, which supports that consumers were confused......they call it a "dumb name". This is a major publication calling it dumb, and again, I'm not alone here, so you can live in denial and not accept my "dog shit" I guess.
Argue everything else till you are blue in the face, but Wii U is a dumb name for a console - this is a fact universally accepted by almost everyone except the die hard Nintendo fanatics. And I even liked the machine......and the games......

As to Sony not responding to a dominated market, you grasping at straws here, games would be $90, controllers $120, the system would be $599. PS plus was direct reaction to Xbox gold. PlayStation network was a direct reaction to xbox live. The Playstation plus collection was a direct reaction to game pass. Please come back to reality. They spent billions into new games and buying developers as a result of that direct competition. They spend millions advertising their product. Just like apple does, they evolve the ipad, the enhance it, they innovate the operating system and they adjust pricing - all as a direct result of competition.
As to kinect - Errr Playstation eye? Playstation Move says hello? As to elite controller, this is just a dumb move on their part not having one. And of course they care about xbox exclusives.......now your being silly.

Dude I don't care to scour your past comments. There are better uses of my time. We both know your past disingenuous comments about the XSS. You hit your lows months ago. The idea that you 'agree' now with the positive comments is laughable but good on you for seeing the light. Maybe you're on a better track and that's great!

The XSS is perfect for the target audience it's for. The idea that they should up the specs and price runs contrary to the philosophy of the device in the first place. It already has features and more games running at 120fps that other more expensive consoles lack. It has the same features of its more expensive sibling. If MS supports the developers making games for the box and those developers are thoughtful with their use of those features gamers on a budget are in for a treat. Many people that actually have and use the consoles sing its praises. There is no reason to hate.

You can't prove this comment.. at all and yet you keep repeating it. Are you ok?

It can't be proven since it's never been said by me, the developers are the ones making predictions which get repeated in this Gaming forum. I have no reason to not believe them, but not stupid to make a prediction since I'm no gaming developer. They are the experts, put trust in them.

The people who are positive on XSS development haven't really stretched it at all, based on titles working on, so have no reason to disbelieve both sides.

But for you to blatantly lie and spread false claims is absurd. I don't suppose it's a shock to 90% of people on here. I just don't get why you would sink that low dude, just to defend the honour of a plastic box, just how sad is that.

Very:

Microsoft:

And a few others..

Have been able to freely order it in the UK for many months now.

It's not shifting very well.

They have not been available for 'many months'.... Because I was looking for one for ages in the UK. I checked these sites on a daily basis and none had any in. Your talking about being freely available for 1 month.... two months tops.

That cheap target audience (supposedly buying XSS in droves) would also likely not own TV’s that support VRR (look at the recent A1 series by LG for example or the 1080p TV’s they may own) which makes it a bit weirder as that is supposedly one of the saving graces (aka like downloadable first day patches are for devs… aka unfinished games released with months of patches until they are running properly… but that is potentially beyond the point).

Riky Riky VRR is in and of itself a great development (where it works and it is available, TV wise too)… but so it was the moment where games could be updated and improved beyond the initial purchase… do you see people overjoyed at day one patches and the first very dense change logs for the first month or so now that game publishers can create the game knowing they have no restrictions on required day one and launch window patches?
