Think about it logically, Russia before this cluster fuck was considered the 2nd "best" army, it has made absolutely no territorial gains worth a shit in 6mths and keeps calling up old men and throwing them into old tanks and getting nowhere, you'll see how bad it really is when the Ukrainians start to roll

So the news right now is that through the winter the frontlines did barely move. Russia tried to move towards lyman (which failed), tried to take over some villages on key defensive locations (also failed). They did have some successes on Bakhmut - the city is surrounded on 3 sides and they control a chunk of the city. These are the news.
However, on youtube between:
a) tankies who hate america and acritically support anyone who's on the other side
b) rightoids who have a love affair with putin because he's a tyrannical strongman with conservative social values
c) actual russian propaganda
You've got a lot of junk on YT. These are some better channels:
Perun: long form videos, aprox once a week (he also has a gaming channel, so don't confuse the two)
Anders Puck: actual military analyst, doesn't post updates daily but when does it's well worth watching
Reporting From Ukraine (channel name RFU): posts daily, he's very pro ukrainian but reports russian succeses as well

To me what makes it surreal is that it's happening on European soil. Poland, Hungary have borders with Ukraine. Germany and France are within a day of driving to Ukraine.

It annoys me that many people that I talk to IRL don't give a shit about this war, its like its on the other side of the world for them.
In the beginning when all this was kicking off and it was looking like Russia would win easily, and Putin was threatening my country.. that feeling was really surreal.
Glad they are loosing badly now. We have a lot to thank Ukraine for. Let's never forget it, at least I won't.

Useful idiots. The soviets used to make these type of videos during the height of the USSR to show how well-stocked their shops were. Even Pyongyang has nice stores for those allowed to live there.
