Results to "GAF's Greatest Games of All Time 2011 Edition"

Well, it took me a few hours to standardize all the names so I could get the final scores, but the results are in! As said in the voting, the results will be presented in three ways, all showing the top 50 results for each. A count of the total number of votes, a count of the total number of #1 votes, and a weighed score, giving a point value of 10 to #1, 9 to #2, and so on.

For the reporting, it should be noted that remakes, enhancements, and expansion packs got consolidated. For some examples, Pokemon Gold, Silver, Crystal, Heart Gold and Soul Silver all got compiled into one result. The PS1 and Gamecube versions of Resident Evil got compiled together. Street Fighter II, Super, Turbo, ect all got compiled into just one Street Fighter II, along with III, IV, and Alpha. StarCraft and StarCraft Broad War were combined into just StarCraft.

To start with, there was a much smaller turnout for this vote then the last. Roughly 450 people compared to the 880 last time. But some of the results still hold steady, like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time still being far ahead of anything else. Mario Galaxy took a good plunge, from #2 last time to #13 now, Half Life 2 fell a bit but is still holding strong at #5 instead of #3, Super Mario 64 and Super Mario World have changed spots between the years, Metal Gear Solid has gone down several spots while Resident Evil 4 rose to #2.
But overall, things have held pretty steady, which does surprise to me to extent. I was expecting more newer games then Galaxy 2, and for some older ones to move more then they did.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Cant wait to replay OoT on 3DS. Deserved numer one spot....this game blew my mind even after i had played sonic on a japanese dreamcast :)

Glad to see the top ten in all areas untainted by anything from the last year or so (not that there haven't been good or even great games, but it's too easy to let recent-game-hype push those too high). Good show, GAF.

Yeah If you like JRPG it's one of the most essential (and fun) games in this genre. And it held up pretty well, was also very late(finsihed it some years ago) but enjoyed it immensly.

Don't agree with the list, especially not with RE 4, loved that game but one of the best games of all times?

I spend a couple hours a day on GAF and I didn't even know this was happening

Was this a sticky? That would explain it, most people (myself included) just skip over them.

That's actually pretty solid, good work Drkirby!

Nothing too objectionable, top ten are mostly okay. Only real points of contention are Final Fantasy VII somehow being ahead of IX, Halo being somehow ahead of Portal, Yoshi's Island not even being in the top 10 when its the best 2D game ever made, and SMG2 being lower than SMG1. These are puzzling, but nothing to get worked up about.

Bioshock's position is where System Shock 2 should be, but I suppose thats just evidence that far more have played the former than the latter.

Oh, and GAF: I'm proud of you for keeping Twilight Princess off this and recognising its inferiority to the other Zeldas.

Overall though, its a good list.

deus ex is moving on up though compared to last time.

hopefully human revolution will get even more people to play it, as if you have a pc you can play it and it's really cheap on steam.

While I'm disappointed by the low ranking of Starcraft and that Doom didn't appear at all, the top games definitely seem to be those who appeal to loads and loads of people from all categories, so for a voted ranking it's surprisingly decent really good.

Edit: Looking in more detail the only thing I'm really Internet-outraged at is that KOTOR appears, such a mediocre game and experience :/ At least it was beaten by both BG2 and Diablo 2.

Only 2 things there that bothered me.

1) Halo being too low/Uncharted being a)on there and b) above Halo (and everything else under it).

2) No God of War.

It's still crazy. I mean, yes, admittedly this is something of a popularity contest and Nintendo's titles have sold enormously... but one PC title in the Top 10? Are PC gamers on this forum that much of a minority?

How are none of the GTA games listed?!? The best selling franchise of last generation is not even mentioned once! Vice City wasn't perfect, but it was one of the greatest games of all time.

Nice work. That's a great list in my opinion, there are only maybe 1 or 2 games on there that I wouldn't consider great games.

Mario Galaxy and Uncharted 2 are too high and Half-Life 2 shouldn't be above 1 but outside of that the list is surprisingly agreeable! Good job OP.

Because this is GAF - and there was a time where western developers werent dominatin the homeconsole space.
