6/10 for me and this is coming from someone whos gaming a lot more on their Xbox this generation as opposed to PS last generation. Yes, my Xbox Series X gets more play time than my PS5 due to Game Pass and ease of access to games. Last gen, it was all PS4 for me, because Xbox One was a disaster of a generation for Microsoft sadly. This generation around, its quite even for me, but prefer Xbox for the reasons stated above.

I know the show was focusing on the next 12 months starting from today and I commend them for it. However, they have also announced many big important 1st party titles YEARS AGO including Fable, Perfect Dark, State of Decay 3, Awoved, Hellblade 2, Indiana Jones, Everwild and so on.

And we have not seen single one out of any of these whatsoever at today's show. I understand that some of them went through rebooting/dev difficulties and stuff. But you cannot tell me that not single one has made any decent progress. I don't need any crazy long gameplay demo or anything. Just a small trailer or something of in-game glimpse. The only title we seen most of is probably Hellblade 2, they did have a few things for that over the years, so I guess they decided to not show it here.

The surprises they had were okay, nothing to crazy. I was expecting at least 1 new big project be a surprise drop from one of their 1st party studios but that was not the case. Not even a word of sneak peak on what The Coalition is doing and I know they have 2 games in development at least. I don't know, I love Game Pass and some of the games they showed, but I think being SUPER STRICT only on 12 months is a bit too much. They needed at least 1 or 2 games that were beyond the 12 month mark and it would have sealed the deal.

Diablo IV, Starfield. Lightyear Frontier. Grounded, High on Life are the 5 games that stole the show for me as far as what I want to play really bad as soon as possible.

Just my honest opinion.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

"They could have shown some of Perfect Dark / Gears / Avowed, WTF?!"

"What's the point in showing cgi trailers?"

"I know it said pre alpha but man, that looked Rough, Xbox are in trouble "

"LOL, billions of dollars for that?"

Even if you take out first party games which obviously are not ready to show and with all the reporting about internal issues with a good amount of studios I understand the devcision. What I dont understand is literally last year they signed shit tons of games for day one on gamepass to help pad out the year foir 2021. Where is that strat for 2022? Like WTF? It shows everything hedged on starfield/Refall.

So it makes it look like 2021 was a fluke. 2022 there's no big game they signed to help take the hurt for delaying starfield/redfall.

All they had to do was announce CALISTO PROTOCAL day one gamepass or something on the lines of that and they would have a good fall.

I agree with your sentiments. It's frustrating not to hear again about a lot of these projects. They were simply announced too early.

I am actually happy about focusing on the next 12 months for this showcase and getting a good idea of what's coming to gamepass. For me personally I will be satisfied with what they got coming as long as nothing else gets delayed. Doubt it though

Hand on heart I was disappointed. For the most powerful console I’m not seeing it with the games. For someone who isn’t a first person guy either there was a lot of them .

I get the appeal for gamepass, it’s very good value .TMNT next week for example already saving money.

I thought Starfield looked rough too, particularly those facial animations and if they said RedFall was 1X footage i wouldn’t of questioned it.

No major first party release all year or is that the likes of Scorn?

I want those PlayStation cinematic ,technically impressive games and i am not seeing it from them at all.

Each is own but enough is enough for me .
This is where I am at as well.
Just speaking facts. The reality is, these showcases have never been start to end top tier shows.

Unless, someone can prove me wrong.

This was a great show.
Opinion does not equal fact.
Well, my fear has come true. Microsoft's showcases should now be called Xbox Game Pass Showcase because that's exactly what it is. Nothing but Indies. Not a single major AAA third party publisher. No major reveals. No gameplay for Avowed, Contraband, etc.

Nothing but Game Pass, Game Pass and Game Pass. My God. This is not what I spent $500 on. Indies are great for those who love them but that's not me. Out of the 30 games shown, only 4 of them were for me.

Redfall - love the gameplay aspect and the vibe but visually, very disappointed.
A Plague Tale Requiem - easily, the best game of the showcase for me. Looks great but sadly, no release date.
Diablo IV - looks good for what it is and im very interested in it.
Starfield - looks like what I imagined it to look like. Looks good at best. I think they should have shown off more vibrant, lush, foliage filled planets than what they showed. Not impressed at all. Shooting and gameplay do look like it's the best in any Bethesda Game Studios game. I can see why it was delayed as it needs another year in my opinion.

Overall - 4.0/10.

Very disappointed and at times, I was like, WTF is this shit show? I'm simply not someone who's reliant and dependent on Game Pass. I have no issues buying $70 games day one. But whatever, it is what it is. :(
Agree with this as well

Probably 7 for me. There wasn't really anything for me (except Silksong and Wolong) but objectively it was a solid show, for the typology of games you would expect from MS and/or xbox gamepass.

It was good. 7.5/10.

Really excited for Redfall and Diablo 4. Starfield looks insane but I need to see more. Sea of Thieves and Grounded have really caught my interest now too.

However the bad: it was too focused on 2023. Everyone thought they would pull out a big game for 2022 to fill the void and didn’t happen. No Avowed, no Contraband, no Indiana Jones, no Fable, etc. which was very weird IMO. Why show them last year? I thought for sure we’d at least see Contraband…and there was were 0 surprises IMO.

I really like the Redfall opener but I don’t think Starfield should’ve closed especially after the bitter delay. They needed a surprise to end the show IMO.

Anyways, GamePass is looking stacked. 2023 looks amazing. But I have to say I’m already wanting to see Xbox’s 2023 showcase.

However, I’ll be ok this year with Grounded, Modern Warfare 2, Hogwarts, Callisto Protocol and whatever Nintendo/Sony show off soon.

That’s why owning all 3 consoles is key to gaming happiness. :D

I'm actually on top of the world today. Starfield blew me away, and has actually ignited a bit of passion in me for games in general. Something that was going a bit over the last couple of years.
My imagination hasnt been flowing like this in a long time, in regards to a game.
Imagine watching that starfield
trailer and equating it with mental Viagra.
We saw trash tier gameplay but then it's Bethesda on the creation engine so it's to be expected.

I'm sure the world building and factions will be good, then again they made fallout 4.

I'll bite about your meme question too. How long does a console gen last these says? 7/8 years? People laughing/complaining/making jokes about Xbox or fans pissed off that they launched a new console and with no exclusives have a right too since they've failed on that front. And your making excuses that it's ok for them to wait 3.5 years for a reason to own their new console.

Thankfully we are all different people and like different things. I honestly feel sorry if all you got from that Starfield deep dive was 'trash teir gameplay'.

As for the other point. What i meant was Microsoft have the studios now, after all the aqqusitions over the last 2-3 yrears. they dont just have 5 studios now, where there would of been a big chance hardly any games would be coming up. Now they DO have the studios now, 30+. So obviously the games will be coming, its just a waiting game at the moment. And i was talking about actual Xbox owners, i was talking about the concern trolling form the usual suspects, which i'm sure you already knew anyway.

lets wait for actually gameplay not ''in engine'' bullshit
They showed actual gameplay. Infact by using one camera cut to switch between gameplay to environments to replays etc was ultra impressive.
This is a generation ahead of any game.
Up until now Forza Horizon was the best looking and best outright racing game, and Turn 10 said to PG, hold my beer, watch this.

A lot of stuff was PC only, didn't see any major next-gen announcements. The mantra "Xbox is done with cross-gen" is weird when PS4/X1 games still look better 🧐

Naraka was announced as coming to PS5 first last year and now it's coming to Xbox only at launch? Strange. Is that another moneyhat that Xbox fans hate so much?

It was probably too late for MS to lock down any big exclusives once they realized redfall and starfield weren't going to make 2022.

Was 2021 a fluke? You could ask the same thing about Sony? Sony had a bad 2021. Was that a fluke? It happens. 2023 is going to be bonkers for MS. So will you be asking the same thing of MS after next year? Was 2021 and 2023 flukes?

MS decided to only show games releasing in the next 12 months. We don't know what big hitters will be dropping in the second half of 2023. Could be avowed, Indiana jones, rare's next game, etc. Ridiculous 2023

And it's clearly an issue with your taste. We have some very interesting games releasing on Xbox game pass this fall and you're only interested in the collisto game. Hmmm ok

The only thing I got out of that was High On Life and Persona. I did like Diablo, Redfall and Starfield but, I am not going to get too excited about these games that we already know are coming a year from now.

5/10. If there was no Persona this would have been really bad.

- The indies did not look that compelling, there are better indies at the other events.
- No date on A Plague Tale, like this needs to go gold in 4 months and they don't know the date?
- Nothing compelling with a date besides TMNT (from another show). People are talking about no Xbox games in 2022 but, how far in 2023 until we get a game? They couldn't commit to a month or season with Redfall.

Just done watching. Ones I liked/interested in:

High on life
A Plague Tale Requiem
Flintlock
Minecraft Legends (if Single player)
Pentiment (maybe, need to see more)
Grounded
Ereban
Diablo IV
Ravenlok
Cocoon
Wo Long (need gameplay)
P3P
P4G
Starfield

Only downside is most, if not all on my list are for 2023.

Since everything is on Game Pass anyway, they're better off changing the name of the show to Game Pass Show really and getting rid of the Play on Game Pass message after every game shown.

Best thing about watching this later and not live is skipping everything I'm not interested in and avoid getting bored.

After all that, I rate it an 8.

And Phil got fat! Maybe this brings down my rating to 7.

I slept for a few hours and came back to this refreshed. I wish I could lower my score in this poll. Fuck Xbox. They are the only console I support these days, but fuck them. This year is dead for them. Tunic and what... Persona 5 in the fall?

What a fucking joke.

We have Kojima phoning in some old news to prop up Crackdown 3 style ambition that will burn out and become nothing, much like Sega's hype around fog gaming and their "Super Game". Why should I give a shit about these game creators being super ambitious with their cloud tech pitches? Nobody delivers. Kojima might as well get into NFTs or something equally fucked in the head, as it would be closer to mattering in any current context. Xbox right now can't even stealth drop shit for a summer weekend. They can't even save Christmas from Todd Howard's janky ass money pit being delayed.

I have been subscribed to game pass, and I get the whole sales pitch for it. I'm firmly embedded in the Xbox ecosystem as far as consoles go, and as a fan of Japanese games I can keep second guessing it and playing on Steam. Still after a decade I feel like they treat fans of Japanese games that built up the whole fucking industry they reap, as if we are pieces of shit for even bothering to hang around.

There is no certainty whatsoever you can bring to Xbox these days. At one point you be tongue in cheek and shit post about the possibilities. Like, "Hey. They could fucking buy studios and swamp us with cool games" but they put together elaborate showcase like this with nothing immediate about it. I doubt acquisitions would improve anything at all. It's certainly not funny anymore. Sea of Thieves sang a fucking song about season 7 DLC, probably more entertaining than the game itself from what I've played of it. A pile of trashy FPS action games or gorey shit that all looks alike has dominated the industry over the past few years, gotta yawn and stretch while Redfall runs through the motions. I am so glad I got to see an Overwatch 2 trailer here (Not really.)

The big savings deal of this show is Riot PC games giving us DLC bundles for League and their other shit? Really?

What the fuck, Xbox. What in the actual fuck? Hey, Phil Spencer. Should I keep asking for JRPGs to launch day one multiplat on Xbox, or not end up exclusively absent from Xbox? Do you still hear us? Just checking bud. Go fuck yourself please. Thank you. I no longer have faith that Xbox can deliver anything despite owning the actual fucking studios and IPs that make the games.

Where's Goldeneye? Where's Quake?

Phil is too busy buying COD because they know they can't supply games and those games they have all have studio issues. I think they will get there eventually, but the thing is thats what we've been doing is waiting for eventually?

Just done watching most of the show...It was okayish...and I am being rather generous here...
The content was not impressive. But even when MS has something exciting to show -which was not the case today-, they do not know how to highlight it. I have always maintained that if both Sony and MS were given the exact same title to reveal, Sony would do a better job at it. I think it has something to do with the respective DNAs of the two companies: One is an entertainment provider at heart; the other is not.
Just my two cents...🤷‍♂️

Let's see, lots of games, not much cgi, nice seeing Diablo 4, plagues tale 2, a couple promising indies and starfield.
However, no major games surprises or seeing anything big for the holidays.

7/10

I would give it a 7/10. Was hoping for at least one big AAA reveal from out of left field but it didn't happen. I think the focus on only showing games that will release within the next 12 months was commendable, but limited the type of games they could show. We still have no clue what MachineGames or id-Software are working on and we need more updates on how Hellblade 2 and Avowed are shaping up. Hopefully we learn more before the year ends.

What a meltdown! If you want Japanese games so much maybe you should get a japanese console like Switch or PS instead of an Xbox? I will never understand that mindset. Persona 5 is on PS3. Clearly you made a bad decision along the way 😅

I wonder what DarkMage619 DarkMage619 and kingfey kingfey think about 2022? They kept repeating "wait until after the show" for those big surprise releases.

Show was ok

Starfield looked alright but all the "1000 planets" stuff makes me feel like there will be a lot of recycled environments and etc for example.

Some of the people trying to trash the game here were most likely the ones praising the garbage that was no mans sky.

High on Life looked interesting as well

Given that Bethesda apparently retains their autonomy, I would absolutely expect Quakecon to be the place for the unveiling. id, more than most studios, understands its their long time fans that have kept them in business and made them what they are. With Doom 2016, they showed it off at Quakecon, and kept the footage offline for ages in order to reward their fans for coming to Quakecon and celebrating with them.

Terrible pacing, too long and those black inserts “Xbox Console Exclusive” and “Gamepass Day 1” were confusing as fuck (were they refering to the video before ou the next one?).
But Starfield looked amazing, Wo Long seems interesting (Ni Oh’ chinese Sekiro) and Until Dusk Fall got mu attention

It was a solid 8.5/B+. Focus on games releasing within a years time is appreciated, too often things are shown and then you're left wondering how many years you'll be waiting for it to release. That focus also allowed for majority of games to show gameplay, which has been lacking in prior years conferences, so glad that they actually responded to the criticism. Majority of games being on GamePass makes them risk free to try out even if I'm only a little interested initially.

Wide variety of games shown, which for someone who actually loves video games and not just a narrow selection of games was great. Highlight of the show was Cocoon, which has compelling looking puzzle gameplay, and is by a director that has already delivered two unique masterpieces in Limbo and Inside. Lightyear Frontier offers a nice spin on the farming simulator. The Last Case of Benedict Fox feels like an old-school action platformer, in a good way. Starfield gives of NMS+Fallout vibes, which I'm totally down with. Diablo IV, Grounded full release, Ereban, High on Life were some other highlights for me. The Persona games being on GamePass will push me to finally give them a chance.

It's disappointing to not get Avowed especially of the games teased the last few years, but there's still several events later this year where we could get another taste of it and other no shows from this event.

All the Riot games going to gamepass with everything unlocked was interesting. It is a pretty big audience so even if they can get a small amount to sub to gamepass it's probably worth trying. It's a clear statement MS will try tap anything for GP growth.

"So, how many people play League of Legends in 2022? There are currently 180 million League of Legends players right now, and that’s mostly thanks to Riot Games’ TV series, Arcane! When Arcane was released on Netflix, League of Legends literally “exploded” on the trending chart, and with all of these stats and hype, we just can’t see League going down any soon! If you’d like to learn more about how League gained its popularity, then continue reading this article!"

I already own Persona 5. This response is the reason being an Xbox-only customer would fundamentally suck. For a man who is all about hating exclusives, Phil Spencer sure likes to ensure that they exist on other platforms.

This is borderline copypasta.

Now we are getting somewhere. Hyperbolic shit posting delivers more entertainment value than the Xbox conference ever could.

It's E3 season. The time for video game Christmas magic. The only winner this year is Doritopope.

You do realize that Persona games not being on Xbox prior to now has nothing to do with Phi Spencer and has everything to do with Atlus being a weird ass company right? Right? Persona 3, 4 and 5 are still not on the Switch, the hottest selling system in Japan by a wide margin, so it's clear to me that Atlus is the problem not the platform holders. That Phil managed to somehow get Atlus off their weird Sony exclusivity is a point in his favor. In general a lot of these Japanese companies are xenophobic and stick to outdated bullshit, refusing to take any small risks to try and expand their audiences.

Agreed. For me in retrospect, a lot of what was shown fell into either ‘not interested’ or ‘meh, I guess I’ll play it since it is included in game pass’ vs being actually wowed. I think this is an unfortunate consequence of them prioritizing advertising what they paid to be included in Game Pass versus the absolutely mostly compelling and interesting games they could have shown. Almost entirely devoid of big AAA third-party presence likely due to not being day 1 game pass.

A very solid 7. Forza Motorsport finally announced, I hope the will share additional details in the coming weeks.
Starfield looks better and seems to be more interesting then I thought.
Diablo 4 looks awesome, I can't wait to play it.
Scorn looks dope, I hope the gameplay will be at least decent.

The rest was boring for me. Still a good show though, four games that I'm looking forward to. Not bad at all.

Atlus is under SegaSammy, who doesn't port everything to Xbox either despite their relationship. I expect Sakura Wars to show up as a late port in a 2023 or 2024 show or something equally stupid, assuming the Wednesday joke doesn't happen for real after "Super Game" turns out to be shit nobody plays.

Phil delivers "we're working on it" speeches to fans for a decade. Doesn't even fart when Lost Odyssey turns 10 years old in Japan or in America. He gets late ports rather than simultaneous releases. Meanwhile, Xbox God Itagaki is probably staggering around, pissing on himself in an alleyway behind a bar in Tokyo right now, just waiting for a call to go to work on ramping up a new Xbox studio. It's all about the risk, and Microsoft has enough money to mitigate it.

I enjoyed it (did not watch it live), and I thought the announcements were pretty cool. More Gameplay demos are upbeat in my book, although it was not as exciting as the past E3 showcases. I would personally give it a 7.5 or an 8.

Honestly, it was a shit show and exactly the type that E3 and E3 - like presentations should have never become.

If I'm setting 90 minutes of my time aside for your press conference or showcase, I'm expecting gameplay reveals of your majori titles. Exciting announcements of your high profile game. What I do not want is 60 minutes of announcements of indie games, the vast majority of which will get lost in the enormous amount of indie games coming out anyway.

Redfall looks like crap. Starfield I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt. Its hard to reveal an ambitious RPG in such a short timeframe, but it certainly looked very rough and Bethesda Yank.

It gets a 2/10 from me. Use this presentations as an example how not to do it. If you don't have anything to show, don't host a show or be up front about it and call it the indie showcase.

Least we get more Persona, which is always a good thing.

I thought Plague Tale looked too much like Tomb Raider now. Should've stayed stealth/puzzle.

It was a good show after Grounded got shown. At least for game pass users.

Your joking right?

So street fighter 6 gameplay, re4 GAMEPLAY, RE VILLAGE IN VR, FF16 GAMEPLAY is not as exciting as a game that needs another full year and looks like a more ambitious no man's sky. Like diablo 4 looks tits, but its not day one on gamepass. Redfall looks like a mediocre Back4blood, starfield has potential but it looked rough. Animations dont even touch anything SOny has done. What are you playing this fall or rest of the year?

Forza DLC, Sea of thieves DLC, where the fuck was Halo?

Sorry you have to be trolling to think this. I hope this was you trolling.
You do understand that it is all subjective. Like the games you have listed, I have zero interest in. Last SF i ve played was in the 90’s, never was a fan of RE And I don’t like jRPG’s (so no interest in FF). Literally I wouldn’t try any of these games even if all would be on gamepass. On the other hand I really liked around 3/4 of games showed on ms presentation and will defo try more than 50%.

at the beginning they have said they will show only games coming in the next 12 months, and they have shown over 30 games (most with gameplay). I am assuming that they will show Avowed, Fable, Hellblade 2, perfect dark, Indiana Jones, new wolfenstein etc. next year in June. I can imagine ms doing an event like this regullary when they show only games that are coming in the next 12 months, and separate event with games that are further away.

for me the show was 10/10, I wanted to see games with actual gameplay, I wanted to see games that are not years away, wanted to see new forza and starfield gameplays.

people were complaining “why show/announce games that are years away?“, “I just want to see gameplay and not cgi/cinematic trailers” after last years presentation, now ms delivered exactly what they wanted, so the complaines changed to “why they didn’t announce any new things/ips”, “it was missing some specific games” etc.

I'd say 3 out of 10 for me. With all of Xbox Studio's acquisitions I was hoping this one would be where they break the mould and really deliver something to be excited about

Redfall looked as generic an FPS as I can recall. They have a solid track record but the demo didn't inspire much confidence

Starfield the other headline game looked like everything I expected and not in a good way. Jank and performance issues aside it still seems ambitious and could be really good but I feel it's lacking a little creativity in what you can do with alien worlds

Best game I saw IMO was that one from the Inside dev. A lot of the rest of the conference was getting so dry I was skipping through

Disappointing how many games that have been announced were completely MIA. But they need to course correct at some point after getting ahead of themselves and announcing games way too early

I think MS could really take a quality over quantity approach to their conferences and it would benefit them in future

Posting an unironic Joker gif and declaring Xbox's entire press conference to be less entertaining than a wannabe "NAVY Seals" re-post. Truly, an opinion worth reading.

I don't follow the Navy Seals re-post point, but I assume it's copy pasta I don't give a shit about. My opinion isn't worth reading. For a TL DR of it: Xbox's entire conference was boring. The rest is bullshit, like this entire off-year. Go fuck yourself anyway, just in case you're Greenberg in disguise. Can never be too careful.

To anyone saying ‘look at all the games we’ll be playing on Game Pass’ I’ll just say would you be interested in buying and playing all of those games if they weren’t on Game Pass? Because I certainly wouldn’t. Just because they’re on a subscription service doesn’t mean you should lower your standards.

I give it a 5/10 and that's entirely because they stuck to showing gameplay of games that will be out within the next year rather than showing a barrage of CGI trailers for projects that are several years away. Unfortunately very little of what they showed interested me and what they showed of Starfield didn't make me stand up and take notice. If anything, it actively reduced my overall interest, especially when Todd started harping on about the thousands of planets. I feel like we've heard that marketing before and it never pans out.

I want those PlayStation cinematic ,technically impressive games and i am not seeing it from them at all.

This showcase made it painfully apparent that Microsoft has nothing to counter the likes of Housemarque, Guerrilla, Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, Insomniac, Santa Monica Studios, or San Diego Studios. Nothing at all. 343i and The Coalition have been more iterative than innovative. Rare has done nothing since Sea of Thieves and their latest project is in development hell. "In development hell" sums up a LOT of Microsoft's first party projects: Fable, Perfect Dark, Avowed, Everwild... The only Microsoft Studio that feels like it can go toe-to-toe with their Sony counterpart is Turn 10 vs Polyphony Digital.

Microsoft can spend as many billions as they want but eventually they'll learn they can't buy their way to quality.
