The game is nowhere near computensive like some of you want to believe. The assets in that game can clearly be rendered without the need for an SSD. This is not on the same scale as UE5 demo.

Wow. So the billions of triangles is something only UE5 can do (at least for now)!?

Rendered sure, no problem about rendering power. Pc video cards are way more powerful than a ps5. But the data streaming no. Maybe in 2 to 3 years from now.

No but if people open their eyes, they can see there isn't anything heavy in the assets on an individual basis that requires an SSD. I'm calling it like it is. If they are loading/unloading scene data, that doesn't mean the assets are so heavy that they HAD to. Same scenario with Spiderman MM. The game swinging is just continuous now not requiring loading. That doesn't mean a PC version can't be ported over or can't be brute forced into RAM.

PCs have the same SSD tech as PS5. Ever so slightly slower? Yes but it will run just fine. Don’t forget PC has much faster CPU + RAM speeds it’s not just about SSD speed. Also, PC is getting DirectStorage + RTX I/O.
Yes just like you say. Pc will get all that stuff, but it isn’t there now. It doesn’t have the decompression hardware, it does have all the bottlenecks that ps5 removed and some of them that xsx removed. See Cerny his slide on what they did to get the SSD i/o as it is and you will understand this simply doesn’t exist in any other machine at the moment. Plus, even if you have all the tech it will never run on pc because it will not be released on pc, but that’s another story and the actual topic of this thread.

LOL.. Dude, it's not going to take 2-3yrs man. At the end of the day, those assets have to live in memory before being rendered. And the PC has a lot of it.

I’m sure the average pc doesn’t have more than 8gb of ram lol... a new one that cost at least 1500 dollars has 16 now. You’d probably buy it and me too, but the average people don’t spend nearly that amount on pc’s

Why would it NOT work on even a SATA SSD drive.

How much data does the PS5 actually transfer during gameplay couldnt a bunch of extra data be held in RAM, and couldnt a 6 core desktop processor make up some of the lost overhead?

Not saying its definitely coming to PC, but I still dont believe weve seen any games that actually NEED PS5 SSD speeds to run.

We don't develop a game with low-end hardware being the target. If that were the case, there would be no graphcis features that make those low-end systems tank. Devs have a general graphics engine with many many features that can be turned on/off or dialed back/forward. Look at the latest PC port of Days Gone. They even have changed lighting in that game compared to the PS4 version - using the same engine. If we drew a hard line in the sand about features everyone would be in parity.

How would this game even work without the M.2 drive and PS5 i/o?
Those dimensions changing sequences are part of scripted missions. You cant switch dimensions on fly anytime plus they can always pre load it on memory to mask loadtimes. Devs do lot of trickery then tout power of SSD

I still don't get why some people get upset by Port begging. Be happy you get up play those game. Why be mad I want to play it somewhere else?
Because exclusives are the only logical reason to a console still exist. So the warriors must feel secure with their purchases.
I’m sure you’ll be super cool with your pcmr pc but lets agree that there are many people in the world that doesn’t have the money to spend on pcmr PCs. The average ram in a pc at this time is 8gb of ram.
People didn't have 8GB of RAM and GTX 1060 before the PS4 gen also. People upgrade as the system requirements became higher...

Uncharted bunghole
lol they are talking about how Sony fanboys are constantly insisting that PC won’t get ports for years. They don’t like it when people say they will just wait and play the games on PC with better performance/quality so their response is “well, enjoy waiting 4 years to play it”.

Sony never promised that a their games will come to PC nor have they promised a day one release.

So when is Ratchet coming to PC? I have no idea if is even getting released on that platform.

Gordon Ramsay Facepalm GIF by Masterchef
Just as they masked the near instant load times of returnal, miles morales and demons souls you mean? Sure... lol. The whole point is that you don’t have to mask loading anymore and games play like a cartridge game concerning loading times, and we can see with ps5 exclusives that this is exactly the case.

They why not just say it’s for Playstation 5 and don’t bother mentioning PS4?

usually if it says console exclusive it means just that. it’ll only come out on that console but will be available on PC.

i find if suspicious that this “typo” has been made on both Demons Souls + Ratchet. How can you accidentally type a whole word? It smells like it was accidentally released. Can’t be advertising PC version cause Sony wants people to buy a PS5.
You can be suspicious all you want.

In the mean time, you'll just have to suspiciously wait until for an actual PC release to tell folks told you so.

The average PC on steam survey had 16gb of RAM though, so I'm unsure who's ass your pulling those statistics out of. Literally Google "steam survey", and the first result will show you just that.

Riddle me this, does the average PlayStation fan, own a ps5 currently?

The lowest denominator always has to be kept in mind.
PC games are still made with 5400 rpm HDD's,slow SSD's,ancient CPU's/GPU'S and lower ram amounts(8gb average) in mind.

This is the weakness of PC gaming software that PS5 exclusives that take advantage of its I/O don't have to worry about and the reason the PC currently cannot match PS5 exclusives in visuals.

And let’s do the following thing ok, 11 June we will both play Ratchet and Clank and we’ll compare the ps5 game vs pc and see what runs better ok.

When the game launches, me and others that get it will let you know how its done in the game.

This is by far the stupidest thing you’ve ever said. Congratulations, you played yourself!

I have seen some wild ass posts the past few days. Is it gonna get worse the longer this gen goes?

The PC version of Days Gone is damn near a PS5 version. They also improved the load times dramatically on the PC version.

Its literally 2 different versions.

Every game compared with pc vs ps5.... Do I need to say any more?! It's always a landslide in visuals and performant.

To say you have been a PC gamer longer than me....

Absolutely, but it's not the upper end of what graphics features get put into a game. It's the high-end hardware or future hardware that pushes the tech forward.

Not only could it run on PC but it likely would run better. As for that 2-3 year estimation of yours? By then PC will be on DDR5 + PCIE 5.0 so it will definitely run faster. If SSD speed is what you’re going on about then PC could have an SSD with twice the speed of that found in a PS5.
IF the PC gets those specs in 3 years.
That market will be super small and still be hampered by needing to support the much bigger market that supports ancient tech.
