Psychologists find some interesting results about which gamers are the most aggressive (they all post on GAF)

The entire field of psychology was created by Sigmund Freud. Based on his "breakthrough scientific experiments" (concept of modern scientific thinking was new) he developed a model of human behavior based on the concept of EGO. Ego is supposedly a finite psychological fuel for the lack of a better word. He claimed all humans have different amounts of ego. To get to the point, he postulated when a person ran out of ego, the person was more susceptible to mental breakdown, lapses of judgment, and had a lack of willpower. All modern psychology is based on this hypothesis. In recent years new scientists have tried to replicate his initial experiments with better scientific controls. No team has been able to reproduce the original results of Sigmund Freud which possibly means that the entire field is based off of pseudoscience and assumption. Of course, many of people have a lot of money and time/careers invested into the field so they are feverishly trying to find an answer to the ego problem. They haven't found one.

Long and short of it is it is quite possible that all these psychologists and professionals are just as capable to understand The human condition as your common shaman or psychic. They just have fancy degrees from institutes that charged them a lot of money for the honor.

P.s. I was originally going to be a psychology major until I came across the ego problem. Needless to say I didn't go that route.

P.s.s Dont take my word for it. Look up the ego problem in psychology yourself, it was eye opening to me. Classic example of how confirmation bias can destroy true insight, and how not one person is immune.

Xbox gamers are the most aggressive gamers, outranking PlayStation gamers surveyed in all four of the categories.
Aggression levels were even lower in participants that played video games less than 11 hours per week.

So, PlayStation owners are all on NeoGAF and don't play their games.

This study was paid for and commissioned by a website top10casinos.com. I could not find which company they paid to send the questionnaires. It was only for British isles. Here are the posted results.

I don't think the platform is a key component of agressiveness but the games. And certain games tend to be played in certain platforms. Xbox is catering to the PC crowd and I would bet against anybody that PC is the platform with most agressive gamers.

I would say people who mostly play MP games can be more aggressive than people who mostly play SP games but even then thats not 100% accurate.

I don't know about that, if I ever use video games to let off steam I tend to pick SP games with lots of graphic violence like Doom or Wolfenstein; I want to do the killing as opposed to MP where chances are it would be 50/50. Generally, it's a bad idea to play MP shooters when you're already pissed off, unless unlike me, you're actually good.

Xbox gamers strike me as more "dudebro who likes COD and sports", and also more American, so I'm not surprised.

Well this questionnaire was only distributed in the British isles and not the US. Just like I was saying earlier, confirmation bias is the enemy of true insight.

Bullshit study. Arcade gamers will beat you up in real life.
I did put somebody in a chokehold for skipping the line of quarters on a Mortal Kombat arcade cabinet. Not my proudest moment. Or is it?

As far as the study goes, the xbox was called "the shooterbox" at one point in time.

Some of those physically aggressive Animal Crossing: New Horizons players were probably just pissed they couldn't get their Feng Shui right.

I remember the furniture sex trade, AC people can be nuts.
That's not a joke, btw, people used to trade sexual favors for rare AC items and Pokemon, there was a whole site for it.

Xbox tends to have more Dudebro games but I would say that the Multiplayer aspect is what makes people aggressive in General.

The most aggressive Gamers are really just 12 year olds thinking they can tell a 20 something dude that he r***ed his mom or some stupid insult.

But they can kind of counteract with "You like 50+ year old women?"

Honestly I think shitty children and teens are to blame. Whatever they have accessibility to. Every once and awhile you'll still hear or come across some sad "adults." For probably 10 years now I don't even touch VOIP unless I'm playing with pals because shit randos can really be a mixed bag. Even in team-based games, which is comical. Takes the fun out of a lot.

I can see it, the ones I know who ONLY play COD and sports games work retail an never thought about getting any education beyond that an usually wanna fight or talk bad about someone who never did anything wrong.

Surely these psychologists haven't checked neogaf, where Playstation players are the most aggressive when it comes to shitting on everyone outside the cult, and the most aggressive in worshipping a plastic box where some nerdy guy with glasses is their messiah.
Nah, we just laugj at Angry guys, are you one?

Hmmmm.

I do like to cut people’s faces off to wear them as a mask, but I would t say I’m particularly aggressive about it. You have to be calm, otherwise you get unattractive jagged edges.
