Do you pay for PS Plus?

if so, you’re already paying for the Buffett. It’s just that you’re at the children’s Buffett, while GP has nearly entire menu on the table.
We both still have the option of the Steakhouse down the street. In fact, the Xbox Buffett gives some pretty good coupon discounts for the steakhouse down the street.
With GP, First you can try the Starfield, Forza, or Halo steak and if you like it, you get it at a cheaper price! :)

unless you’re not paying for PS Plus?
As I remember, Bethesda didn't develop a 85+ MC game since 2015 (Fallout 4, 87). Fallout 76, Elder Scrolls Online and their DLCs didn't get great reviews, so who knows about the Starfield quality, until now we only saw a 'in-engine' CG teaser. And even if it turns out to be great, we'll have to wait at least a year and a half to play it.

For this year in MS we have Halo and Forza. Forza looks stunning as always, but Halo doesn't look pretty stellar and the recent Halo games let's say aren't the best ones in the series.

I'm super confident about Forza Horizon, but not about Halo and Starfield. And then for the 2022 and beyond MS games we only got CG teasers so we still have to see these great games.

Game Pass is a great renting service where you can play many games including very good games at launch, great to discover new indies. It's an all-you-can eat restaurant which is ok but they don't have the top quality dishes. But Sony has been releasing many GOTY winners or candidates year after year across the whole generation, so you can be confident with them that they will keep many top quality stuff. So they are like a chef restaurant, you'll pay a premium and may not like some of their dishes but you know that most of the stuff they'll have is top quality stuff (and they also have their own all-you-can eat service with more dishes/games than MS which is PS Now, in addition to the PS Plus games and PS Plus Collection).

I ask you the performance between two companies and you say that business is booming in Microsoft…..

Have a nice day.
Didn't xbox gamepass saw massive 10m boost from lockdown?

Even Nintendo saw a huge amount of boost. I cant even find a switch in my area. Its all sold out even now.

In my city, jobs are slow, so people are turning to gaming.

I am waiting for the day that I can get that shit switch, so I can complete my 4 gaming system. So far, I have the x1s, ps4 and pc gaming.

Halo and Forza look fantastic. But they needed these games to come out yesterday. Sony already has Astro, Returnal, Miles, Demons Souls and Ratchet and FFVII Remake DLC out. Next up is Kena, Deathloop(timed but still 6months before MSFT)Horizon and GoWR? All shaping up to be bangers.

So far, without seeing their event for this year:

Meanwhile Xbox only had The Medium, The Ascent, Gears Tactics and Forza Horizon 5 drop in it’s first year.

The difference is that for me personally, since E3 2018 when Microsoft finally acquired 4 studios, founded 1 and talked about their next generation consoles (Series X/S), I have always looked at them being all about what is now the current generation and knowing how game development works, how long games can take, etc. I was never expecting anything major or massive until 2022 and that was before Covid19. So my expectations are way different than most. The only game I honestly expected was Halo Infinite at launch but im happy it was delayed because it needed to be. Plus, I had other multi-platform games to play which im trying catching up on so I didn't need it at launch and more importantly, knowing it needed to be delayed, wouldn't have wanted it anyway.

I don't include timed console exclusives because well, they're not exclusive. They're basically multi-platform games in which one of the three console manufacturers paid for in order to get early access to it for their platform. I have never counted these games and never will. You're also looking at it in a general sense which means nothing to me because the games that are timed for PlayStation, the only game of any interest to me is Kena which I know is coming to Xbox next year so im not worried or concerned about it. I can easily wait. Plus, I want to make sure the game is actually great or better.

Microsoft barely has any consoles to sell and when they do, they all sell out everywhere immediately so it doesn't matter what games they had for the first year which is nothing outside of Gears Tactics. People can constantly bitch about Microsoft's lack of exclusives since launch but if you're someone like me who's actually been paying attention, then you would already know this. Like I said earlier, I have known this since E3 2018 and my expectations have been low in regards to actual game releases because I have researched every studio that they've acquired since then and I know what they're all basically doing and how long they're taking. Also, several studios like Obsidian, InXile, Double Fine and others had already released a game around E3 2018 (like Rare with Sea of Thieves and Undead Labs with State of Decay 2) or afterwards like The Coalition with Gears 5. And of course, including some of the studios I mentioned, they had existing contracts like Obsidian or InXile and first things first, they needed to complete those contracts first so they can completely move on.

The PlayStation 5 games you mentioned are of no interest to me excluding Miles Morales (already completed and moved on) and Ratchet which I will wrap up today or tomorrow and then move on. So yeah, Sony had the far better launch and launch year (I won't argue that) but it doesn't matter. Xbox One had the better launch and launch year....how did that work out? Also, excluding Ratchet, the other three games I care about are all cross-gen which is a fucking joke. I hate cross-gen to begin with when it comes to the hardware manufacturers. Difference with Microsoft is that cross-gen for Xbox Series X/S ends with Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5. If God of War Ragnarok releases in 2023 which is highly likely, it would be over 2 1/2 years after launch that Sony is still supporting cross-gen.

Granted, the games will still be great but just like Halo Infinite, how much greater would they be if the development studio didn't have to design the game around as of now, almost 8 year old tech? UGH. Miles was great as is Ratchet but all I have left is Horizon 2 in most likely February 2022 and God of War Ragnarok in most likely Spring 2023.

For Xbox, I had Gears Tactics which was great but would have been better for me if those side missions weren't mandatory. Halo Infinite is going to be great as well at least campaign wise. I don't care about online MP. Forza Horizon 5 is easily the best looking realistic game I have seen thus far and it's a massive open world. I don't even care about sports/racing games but im definitely playing through the story campaign in it because it looks too damn amazing to pass up.

As of now, I have 2 future exclusives for PlayStation 5 while I have a whopping 12 for Xbox Series X. Avowed, Contraband, Fable, Halo Infinite, Hellblade 2: Senua's Saga, Indiana Jones, Perfect Dark, Redfall, Starfield, State of Decay 3, The Elder Scrolls VI and The Outer Worlds 2. Best of all, this is literally less than half of what they have for this generation with a shit ton more incoming.

On the PlayStation side, Jim Ryan didn't greenlight Days Gone 2 from Bend Studio which was my #1 most anticipated sequel which would be far less of a risk than a new IP but whatever. Sucker Punch is rumored to be working on an online MP game of some sort which I hope is not true because a sequel to Tsushima or a new game in that franchise is my #2 most anticipated sequel which as of now, I may not get either. So basically, both of these studios can be for me what they were pre-Days Gone/Tsushima respectively - dead.

Guerrilla has Horizon 2 which awesome, im day one but their team is working on an online MP game which I don't give two shits about. Santa Monica has GOWR which like Horizon 2, im day one and another title which I have to wait and see what it actually is first and if it's for me. I don't care about Media Molecule, Team Asobi or Polyphony Digital so eliminate them. I have no idea what London Studio, the Malaysia Studio or PixelOpus is doing so these three are all a wait and see.

Naughty Dog seems to be working on the TLOU Remake which I don't give a shit about and their TLOUP2 online MP factions game or whatever that ends up being which I don't care about. So they're pretty much non-existent for me. By far their best studio at least for me is Insomniac. Miles was great, Ratchet is great. I know they're working on Spider Man 2 which is day one. I'm expecting another Ratchet game probably near the end of the generation and hopefully the return of Resistance but this remains to be seen.

Then we go to their contracted games. Jade Raymond has done anything in like a decade and her studio isn't even complete yet so that's like 5 years away and their game may not even be for me. The two other studios they signed recently (the ex-Destiny and ex-COD guys) are making online MP games so eliminate them for me. They have a few Indies which again, I don't care about so eliminate them.

I already said how I view timed exclusives but even if you want to include them, I only care about Kena which I will wait for on Xbox next year and Forspoken which could just be a Final Fantasy type game which if true, that game will be eliminated from my list. Have to see much more on that game.

Simply put, where Microsoft gave me only 5 exclusives for Xbox One and Sony gave me a whopping 20 (even though it's more like 4 and 14 because I can easily knock out 7 games looking back and nothing of value would have been most) exclusives for PS4. This generation, it's going the opposite way. At least for me anyway. Everyone should simply look at it in regards to what they want, prefer and what's best for them. For this generation, it's all about Xbox Series X and the exclusives Microsoft give me. Whatever I end up playing on PlayStation 5 is just an extra added bonus. But to each their own.

Maryland bethesda haven't worked on anything aside of fo4. They were doing their engine overhaul, which starfield is using it now. Fo76, was different department of bethesda. Austin department is the one who did it. For elder scroll online. Its zenimax online studio. Not Maryland bethesda.

Hope you stop spreading fake information.

PS3 Warhawk was shit IMO. I still want a single-player sequel to the original PSX game.
It was not for everybody, but it had a committed community, so many awesome moments online.

Too bad they changed so much stuff in the sequel (Starhawk, which has an sp story mode), that the community just said fuck it, we will stay on Warhawk.... The amount of hate the game got because of that E3 was dumb.... That whole E3 was dumb.

If you want to compare something, bring skyrim, marrowind, oblivion. Actual game bethesda worked on.
You're talking about games released 10, 15 and 19 years ago. Most of the staff who made these games probably don't work there anymore or even retired.

Do you really think this studio has been working only on Starfield and Skyrim ports since Skyrim and Fallout 4? They also worked on Fallout 76 and Elder Scrolls Online even if weren't the lead studio. Nowadays AAA games need multiple studios working on them, even if most of them are in many cases uncredited Asian outsourcing studios.

You are the one spreading fake information.

Game engines are made by engine programmers and tool programmers, who are a small part of a studio. All the other ones must work on other things. And good luck making an engine in 2015 for a late 2022 (if the release date is real and doesn't get delayed) next gen only game, it would either look outdated or would have to throw a lot of work to the garbage bin and remake it.

Theres a diference in providing resources, funding, co-development, freedom etc. all while creating an original IP for your brand then lets say going out and buying Minecraft in which you had literally zero involvement, surely you understand this?
Good, now talk about all the other games MS payed several companies to make, while letting them maintaining their IPs. But i'm pretty sure you prefer when the company keeps the IP, so everyone else can't play it, because it is just the way you guys go about this, for some reason. So far i've seen at least 5 posts of people lauding Sony for keeping the IPs of games developed by 3rd party companies. That's so fucking awesome, am i right?

OT: He's right and the man didn't say anything wrong, he threw a little jab, but that's nothing in the great scheme of things. It's business.

Buying studios is a great way to victory Sony....All the big games people still buy are third party for the most part. PS5 isn't selling out right now because of Ratchet and clank and Xbox series X isn't selling out for Halo. People play third party games the most and if you can snag the big third party titles, you increase your user base.

Dude, bethesda Maryland havent worked on anything after fo4. Your fo76 was done by Austin bethesda.

Maryland bethesda were working on their engine overhaul which is Starfield is using.

You are the one who brought those game metacritic, not me. And I gave you what they worked on. You were the one who was looking down on them.

Those games you listed can't even close to the amount of time needed to clear skyrim. Just mainline story is 30m. Not counting the quest, and other places you can visit. You can sink more than 100 hour on skyrim alone.

If anything, bethesda games have playability, unlike Insomniac games.

The guys company literally money hated games for the entire generation of ps4. Don't speak with that crap of nurture. Because, ps4 wouldn't have become as it's now, without all those money hats.

You can scream about how great 1st party games are. Buy you cant deny, that they money hated games, to boost their ps4. Put policies against other competitors such as the cross play royal pay.

If their opponent weren't dump about tv tv, I doubt they would've been where they are. Cod would have been xbox home. And alot of games would have went to xbox.

They got 1 chance to be a head of it, and now they get to brag about it.

I got something to tell you Jim. Cocky people always loose. You can brag all you want. This first 2 years of this gen would be yours. But once your opponent starts putting their games day1, and see your customers fly of your services, you will see your words you said today.

All I can say is, today is yours to enjoy. But not next time. Gamepass would be your downfall, if you don't act fast. Because 70$ is what would hinder your ps4 glory.

And the fanboys who try to defend this, don't try it. Gamepass is the future. And you know it from your heart. You can brag the services you are getting right now. But once those games start rolling, you will see day1 until the end of generation. Xbox and pc players will enjoy their time then. Until then, good luck with your exclusives.

I HAVE PS4, AND PS5 DIGITAL AT HOME. I DONT OWN XSX/S, BUT I PLAY X1S MORE THAN PS4 thnx to gamepass.
You're living in a fantasy world my friend.

How about Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, Indiana Jones, Contraband, Outer Worlds 2 etc? Did they show gameplay or a CG for all MS games to released after 2021?

Is any MS game not announced as 2021 or 2022 game confirmed to be in full production?

and xbox hasnt? what rock are you living under respectively speaking? also what do you think day 1 on game pass means when it comes to 3rd parties that decide to add a game to game pass like outridders as an example? Do u think SE did it out of the goodness of there hearts for the gamer? u think there was no compensation? its just a prettier way of paying for limited exclusivity in terms of tempting people by undercutting your opponent.
Yes,but, last year i think matt booty said something that is more easy to buy instead of create new teams

Why just don't admit that ryan says BS 😂

They are published by Bethesda games. Besethda games has many studios under its wing.

Those games are being worked on and probably already have the logic, map design, etc built. You don't want to show off gameplay when the graphics isn't ready yet. Look at how it worked out for Halo Infinite.

Creating teams take time. It takes 2 years to establish them. Not to mention building studios take time. That is like 3 years waste of time building studio and hiring people. When you do that, people will say, you aren't doing anything.

So its easier to just buy studios, since that saves time.

I think you are over valuing zenimax i have no doubt he would have liked for them to remain independent, but it was a good move for Microsoft they needed it the absolute most out of the 3 platform holders.
And while u have people on playstation who previously bought or look forward to there games i dont know many people who when purchasing a playstation system go "oh im buying a playstation for bethesda games" theres a whole laundry list of why you own a playstation before you get to that, its just a bonus for people.

Throwing money at stuff is a MS thing in general. They go after stuff that have established reputations or success and then buy them out in attempt to corner the market, i shouldnt have to give you a list of examples of this, im not talking timed exclusives either.
He shouldn't over estimate them anyway, he was part of the crew saying exclusives don't matter and don't sell consoles anymore.

100% agree, I prefer them to take as much time as needed to release a polished game, and to don't show the games until they are less than a year from release to make sure they can show gameplay and that it will be pretty similar to the final game.

And in my case, I prefer them to announce the game with that gameplay reveal (or minimum real cutscenes running on the real console devkit) instead of announcing stuff with a cg/logo that is years away from release just to build hype out of air beause still don't have anything to show.

I hate when they announce an exclusive game and don't release it until 4, 5 or even more years later. That goes for Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. It's something I liked from MS this year: they focused on 2021 and (if not delayed, these CG+logo only games are suspicious) 2022 games.

Let's hope all 3 from now on they focus on announcing and showing games to be released the current and next year.

I dont care for gamepass. Why?

I despise digital only games to the fullest. I even bought games when i had an Xbox. *lol* The only good thing about games pass is to treat it like "A shitton of demos to try a game before buying it"
So this is your last console generation?, thats a shame.

In the tree
Microsoft should buy Sony.. then fire all the MS games executives and Jim Ryan, disband the games division from the rest of Microsoft, get rid of the Xbox console, and rename the company Sony!

Then they will have won, hurray..

isn't this the same guy who flat out lied saying " we believe in a generation " the moment MS announced they will release games on both Xbox one and series X/S through 2021? just to downplay the Xbox and make the PS5 look better?

Why don't you just be honest and say you are cheap fuck who don't want to spend money because you only think of short-term profit and not the PlayStation brand in the long run since you will retire soon ?

you are doing nothing but hurting the PlayStation and you know what? I am ok with that. let them run it to the ground. Maybe Sony once again will learn the hard bitch ass lesson they learnt during the PS3 later on when the competition kicks the living crap out of them

He conveniently ignores ps+ games, and the psnow.
I doubt he cares about xbox at all. Everything is digital these days. The fact he despises that should make him quit gaming, since most games are digital. The ps account is digital. And if its gets banned, then bye bye to the games you bought on that account. Same for xbox, steam.

We own nothing. Everyone who scream about it, have no idea that they own nothing. Their Cd is useless disc, which has a key attacked to it.

The last physical console was the xbox/ps2. Even getting those physical games are hard. There are games I need for og xbox, which is hard to get. I cant find old Nintendo consoles. Only one I found was Nintendo ds from a thrift store. And only few ds games were available.

His followers swallow whatever he says. Sony first party is really low, if you stop counting 2nd party and 3rd party. It was the same for xbox too. Even Nintendo too.

But fans scream about how much games they produce, despite ignoring the deals they had with 2nd and 3rd parties. They don't own those studios.
Even spiderman isnt from first party studios. It become in 2019. Before it was a 3rd party deal. And they bought them.

But their fans scream, about how spiderman is from 1st party, which isn't.

I want to know, what deals do they have with 3rd parties. As of now, they only have 3 big titles coming this or next year (God of war is still unkown).

Insomniac released mm, and ratchet, so spiderman 2 is very far away. Naughty dog is doing factions. Last of us Remake is far away. Bendy far away. Ghost of Tsushima studio is far away. Unless they have deals with 2nd studios or 3rd parties, I have no idea how will they provide content in 2023.

Those games are the ones they actually worked on.

Engine overhaul takes time. Look at 343 engine slip for halo. It took them hell development to make that engine. The fact that you saying small people working on the engine, proves you are full of shit.

My information are correct, yours are the wrong one. Please do research next time. thnx

If they don't adopt to the market right now, they will be left far behind.
I think so too. It’s essentially Spotify, Apple Music, Netflix, Disney+ versus music CDs and Blu-rays. We already know how it ends. Fans can be concerned all they want but it’s still happening. Regular people won’t care for a second if something will be sustainable, they just want access to more content for less money. Fans should push Sony to do better than Microsoft, not defend them for holding back.

I am just waiting for the time VR to become next console experience. Will people cry about it? So far, it has only Sony as its backing, from the big 3.

Anything that has a PlayStation logo on it is considered to be a first party game.

Moneyhatting timed exclusives & having partnerships to make first party games with external studios (ex returnal, jade raymond etc) aren't the same.

That new game from xbs, contraband with avalanche studios, is a first party game.

Still not the answer I wanted. Anyway won’t bother talking anymore about this. Let’s have a great day everyone.

i ment the 1st party studio. i know anything the publisher funds, is exclusive, like contraband. Spiderman wasn't made by 1st party studio. it become a product of 1st party, when sony bought insomniac. the ip is 1st party though.

You're not serious about business or what you do at Playstation as a major executive or leader if you don't feel some kind of way about Microsoft buying Bethesda, so naturally because they'll end up receiving such questions there will be some defensiveness about it. This isn't a doom and gloom post.

Playstation will be fine, they always are. They will excel, they will blow our minds. We know the quality game experiences will be there, but without question Microsoft's purchase of Bethesda has shaken things up significantly. We are in a reality where Microsoft with a single move suddenly has a higher number of really talented game studios than Sony does with so many juggernaut game IPs. They even now have Quakecon as an event. And an often overlooked thing is what Bethesda's franchises can mean in other entertainment mediums to Microsoft and Xbox. A Fallout TV series is coming to Amazon. Depending on just how good that thing is, it could have a positive effect on Xbox. Hell, same for the upcoming Halo TV series on Paramount+.

All in all what I'm saying is this generation won't be the ass whooping that the last one was from a quality new games standpoint, and because that's the reality we live in now, Xbox gamers, Playstation gamers, PC gamers, everybody will be eating quite good for many years to come. :)

VR is shit in my opinion.

But also it won’t be hard for xbox to just make their consoles compatible with the third party headsets. Wasting rnd on tbeir own tech is not the move.

VR isnt shit, its just new tech, and people are still testing it. Its much better than tradition games, once it gets fixed. Th problem with it, is cables, the control, and limited movement.

Steam is the one to actually deliver a solid VR game, with half life alyx. Even smaller VR mobile games are getting better, and better as time goes.

The reason why I liked it over traditional hardware, is the ability to see that world with your eyes. Everything seems to be real. My first VR test, was oculus rift. I was watching a whale swimming on top of my head, and the fishes details were insane. Its like I am with them.

I am hoping they give us more VR games, to truly enjoy it.

But as of now, VR will take backseat.

I know Xbox can do it, but the problem will be Microsoft. How will Phil convince them?

vr is not their problem to fix.

They can just get their consoles to support vr third party gear.

I also owned a rift. I stand by the fact I don’t enjoy VR and am not interested in it.

I don’t think it’ll take over but I hope it’ll grow. Especially on PC. I bought an Oculus Quest 2 and while I thought Moss was awesome and some other native games I eventually jumped into Steam VR and that’s where VR shines for me. Wireless VR is already a thing there and the graphics is a ton better when you’re not held back by console or mobile hardware. I’m playing seated wirelessly on a swivel desk chair. It’s awesome.

I really hope MS don’t hold Bethesda back there. Skyrim VR with higgs and vrik mod on PC is honestly the most memorable game experience of the year for me so far. Bethesda should hire the folks that did those mods and make sure that Starfield gets a proper Steam VR version.

PS3 Warhawk was shit IMO. I still want a single-player sequel to the original PSX game.

It was one of the most fun MP games on PS3, besides Killzone 2. Calling it "shit" is hyperbole to the max. I understand you wanted it similar to the original but that doesn't make it "shit."
