What the CFO said is likely a carefully worded statement. You could argue that he said "Bethesda games will be first or best on xbox" instead of "ALL Bethesda games will be first or best on xbox." MS could keep the big IP's but release poorly selling Bethesda titles (rage 3, youngblood 2 etc.) after a few months of exclusivity and it wouldn't disqualify his statement, would it?
With that said, I am not certain which direction MS is going to take, just offering my thoughts.

That's the opposite of a definitive statement lmao

So it being first on Xbox is self explantory - it has exclusivity of some sort - but what does "best" mean?

Maybe a graphics feature thats not in the other versions? If best means a slightly higher resolution or framerate, 90% of people aren't going to notice that.

Hopefully it means features.

They could have gotten timed exclusive for less that 7.5B dollars though. Sony gets timed exclusives without spending nearly that much all the time. Why would MS pay 7.5B to make PlayStation games? I assume you expect Halo, Forza and Gears to hit PS5 too seeing how badly MS needs the money right?

Fucking no.

Of course they will pimp out Skyrim 2 to every device known to man just like they did the first. No idea why people think Microsoft would want to limit their sales.

Why would MS pay 7.5 million to buy Bethesda then cut their sales potential in half? Answer: they wouldn’t outside an Xbox console warrior’s fever dream

When Microsoft bought Bethesda parent company Zenimax, it created a lot of questions about what major multiplatform franchises might end up as Xbox exclusives moving forward. One of the biggest of those is the already announced The Elder Scrolls VI, the long anticipated follow up to Skyrim. While far from conclusive evidence, the PlayStation Blog listed The Elder Scrolls VI in its Game of the Year 2020 awards nominations under most anticipated games, sparking speculation that the title is still headed to PlayStation platforms (most likely PS5) despite being a Microsoft property.

The Microsoft Zenimax acquisition isn’t affecting games already announced for release on PlayStation platforms, and some PlayStation exclusivity deals, like with Deathloop, are still being honored. At the time, Microsoft also indicated that Bethesda games would come to other platforms “on a case by case basis,” leaving many to wonder if we’d seen our last Fallout, Elder Scrolls, or Wolfenstein games on PlayStation. The biggest question marks on the schedule remain The Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield, both titles that were announced years ago and have received very little in the way of substantive updates since.

Many assume that Starfield, as a new IP, will be used as a Microsoft exclusive to bolster the Xbox library of exclusive games. However, fans have held out hope that the longtime multiplatform Elder Scrolls series would still see a PlayStation release for its next iteration, especially as The Elder Scrolls Online continues to receive updates and support on Sony’s console. It’s unclear if the addition of The Elder Scrolls VI as a most anticipated title on the PlayStation Blog is indicative of its exclusivity status (or lack thereof), or if it’s simply wishful thinking by everyone involved, the PS Blog included.

I was thinking about that yesterday and I believe the issue is more complicated than people believes here.

There are games already with platforms announced so it is probably in contract with the MS purchase that needs to launch these games in these platforms.

New announced games won't have this issue... so MS will choose to release them where they want.
But previous announced games is really hard to cancel it after you already announced... maybe there is even incentives involved like free devkits, or some help with $$$ from both Sony and MS.

That means it is not just that easy... MS bought them so these games are exclusives.

If there is some contract already made MS will probably need to release the games on PS5 unless they find a whole in the contract... of course that is just guesstimate.

Gonna put myself in the PC/Xbox exclusive camp on this one.

Unless Sony already had a deal in place then there's no chance these games come to PlayStation imo. We won't know anything official until the sale is done and anything could happen, just not feeling the possibility here.

Lots of comparisons to what happened with Mojang and Minecraft yet this is very different. Millions of customers already on PS platforms and a marketing agreement already in place had MS leaving well enough alone. Starfield and ES6 have no customers to serve other than the ones they create for themselves.

PS Blog is just trying to gauge how much damage they're about to receive by not actually getting it on their systems :p

You are in for a rude awakening.

Dreams and hope : every single little thing is used as "signs" that Bethesda games will still release on PS5, and spawns a thread about it.

Real world : nobody knows right now if these games will be released on PS consoles. Accepting that we don't know is an important step in living a fuller, happier life.
