Lord of Edge.
The internal meltdown I personally will have if 343 doesn’t blow it out the water this time around...🤣
I have soo much alcohol ready for when I'm disappointed and have to accept that Halo is just not happening anymore.

The problem is that expectations are so high there's no way they can live up to it.

It's a lose/lose for them [unless they deliver something legit mindblowing, which I doubt].

Strange topic. I guess some will act like they are disappointed, because they will always act like they are disappointed and some will love it. In this forum, we will see many, many fanboy-posts and they wont look neutral on the game.
I think the last trailer looked quite good. Not necessary from a graphics perspective, but from gameplay. Graphics aren't important to me. I can gladly play an awful looking game if it is fun.

There will be some minor improvements, but it won't be another Doom or BF. The recently released PC screenshots already showed the latest state of the game.

If it doesn't look at least this good ill be disappointed. This was shown in 2018. Looks fantastic, and they still have ray tracing and whatnot to add on top of this fidelity. (although they wont have that implemented by launch I believe)

But yeah, no excuse for this not to look at least this good on Series X and PC. It should be a technical showcase on XBSX. Which should still be possible, but we will see.
I'm sorry but no next gen game looks as good as this yet. Perhaps 2 or 3 years from now when everything is full next gen (current gen). We know that so far that UE5 demo inflated everyone's expectations for next gen graphics. Anyway it will look very good and more importantly will play even better.

They've been improving the graphics for nearly a year, but you expect only minor improvements? What you think they've been doing?

It took them 5 years to get to the graphics of last demo so if you extend that including the mess the studio is you could expect only some minor visual upgrades. Maybe they implemented ray tracing though which could make everything look a bit better already but I wouldn’t expect much improvement vs the previous trailer. Maybe a bit shinier overall. To really make an impact graphically they’d have to drop the x one support and rewrite the entire engine and they can never do such a thing in only a year time. The game and gameplay itself could be fun though.

That was a trailer for the engine not the game when it comes down to it. It's typical of MS, towards the end of the 360 generation they went again from focusing on games releasing before the next E3 and have stuck to "in engine" or CGI trailers for games that are years away from from seeing the light of day.

I have no hope for this game.

343 failed to understand halo players by adding loadouts in halo 4 (cod).

343 killed MCC on release 2014-18 (killed classic fan's interest for 4 years). Probably the worst launch for a video game ever - maybe 2nd now to Cyberpunk - so possibly worst mp game launch

343 added micro-transactions in halo 5 (full-priced game). (plus the campaign and multiplayer was terrible and overall not well received - missing content at launch added later as 'free' DLC when it should have been at launch). Multiplayer lacking player-favorite playlists also did not help. Additionally, never forget 'Hunt the Truth'.

-essentially 343 has already fooled me 3 times and more.
Halo 5's Multiplayer was well received just nobody bought an Xbox One, the esports scene is still going strong today and it has to most complex movement in a FPS to this day.

I do wish they remove sprint and clamber now though, also game had MTX but wasn't forced, after 8 matches of multiplayer and you did well you had enough points to get the highest REC Pack at 10000 points which is nothing, it wasn't forced was just an option if you wanted to buy a pack but you can legit earn them easy enough.

I don't see how they can turn what they showed into something super impressive at that late stage of development.

Most post processing/assets/graphical stuff are included around a year 1/2 before release so they had time with this delay to improve things, obviously if it released last November with the Xbox it would of been very close to what we saw in that reveal.

And to be honest a years isn't really that much, I have never seen a final game that's drastically changed compared to it's announce/reveal trailer (unless we're talking about downgrades), it's always just a slight artistic touches here and there, most noticeably different color palette, but on the technical level not much ever changes. It's not like they're gonna remodel every asset of a game that's suppose to ship last year, they won't add proper PBR to every material in the game, they won't re-do their entire animations system, and so on, it's just too late. They will probably show a different environment and different enemies this time around, so we wont't be able to do any direct comparisons, but I honestly don't expect the final game to look much different that last year's gameplay. I'll be happy to be proven wrong tho.

They said facial animations were not even in the demo so it's a fair bet they have changed.

They have impressive gameplay.

Just need to have acceptable graphics. I would be fine if it didn't have Halo 5's gorgeous scenery.

Certain people will be impressed, and certain people wont be.
Much concern will be said, much salt will be leaked.

The game can’t win on here. Unless it looks visually stunning like Uncharted or God of War (which it won’t) it’ll be labelled a failure. 343i have always managed to have solid, fun gameplay and gunplay. I’m expecting Halo to be super fun to play online, it’s never been a graphical powerhouse (4 aside).

It wouldn't matter what they show, old Halo fans will bitch and whine endlessly, Sony fans will nitpick anything they can cos they have nothing comparable on that machine.

It will disappoint those who were never looking to be impressed in the first place.

You are talking about Neogaf. Microsoft could send these guys 10k in cash and 5 escorts and they wouldn't be impressed

Good gameplay, cross-gen visuals. People here will mostly focus on the visuals of course :messenger_winking:

This forum will nit pick it to death, but the average normal gamer will be happy with what is shown.

Bloodstained was totally revamped and looked 10 times better in final game, Borderlands was supposed to be another boring grayish-brown shooter before they changed graphical style, Gears of War 4 had IMO massive upgrade between beta and final version. And that don't even count games like Prey and Duke Nukem Forever, because that feels almost like cheating,

The core gameplay is top-notch tho, I'm more than sure the MP will be played to death by millions of people. With that being said, they IMO should've release just the MP portion of the game as F2P last year, and keep working on the SP campaign, DLCs and potential visual improvements until they're done.

I'm seeing big improvement in those screens you just posted compared to last year, and I'm sure we'll get a more pronounced difference when we see it in motion on Sunday. They have PBR in Halo 5 so it's in Infinite. The animation quality was great. If you look at the Brute who ended up being Craig, when he gets shot his running animation blends into a stumble as his momentum carries him forward. They've spoke about adding atmospherics to the world, mist and fog etc. I think as long as we don't have silly expectations, we will get a very nice looking game.

Even assuming it turns out to be an exceptional game overall, I doubt visuals will ever become its greatest bragging point.

As someone in love with Bungie Halos, there is no way this is gonna be a good Halo. I've been waiting since before Halo 4 to get a good Halo from 343i and I'm now more than sure that they're capable of nothing.

Yeah, but it wasn't some leaked footage of an unfinished build. They made it ready for the reveal and it was probably close to the final product.

Now they're are going back and trying to improve everything. I'm sure it will look significantly better with proper lighting and everything, but there is only so much you can do.

I think now that we've seen how good Horizon looks (as a cross-gen game, that is), anything less than "looks really nice" is going to be a failure in the eyes of anyone who isn't already super into Halo (and already thinks it looks fine).

In other words, I don't think they are going to change any minds. People made their minds up like a year ago.
Yeah, since both are cross gen I expect there to be comparisons.

I thought the actual gameplay from the last show looked really great. I think it'll be well received if they do a deep dive on the game, mp, what they've improved and release date.

While the gameplay looked good, the feedback about the graphics from the last showing was needed. I dont think the overhaul is going to be enough to impress the naysayers. I think 343i chose an art style that was never meant to be impressive (that was a mistake)....especially if u wanna show off your new console.

Lastly, and the most likely scenario, there will be a loud subset of people who'll never play this game (or likely the other Halo games) that will drive a negative narrative. Why? Just to be assholes, really.

I do agree with your points but I disagree it was a mistake to go back to the original Halo artstyle, it signals going back to more of the roots of what made halo .. halo, and while it wont be graphically impressive the gameplay looks great.

Depends for what one is looking for. Will it produce another classic like Craig? Or was lightning in a bottle a one off…..disappointing if the case.

Correction, it took 343 5 years to completely redo the game engine after scrapping early progress on it. You do realize that the engine made was done with next gen in mind? I suspect that the HDR effects in the game for people with HDR TV's will be pretty sick. Or at least I hope so lol.
Everything I’ve seen from H:Infinite is already disappointing I can only see it getting worse. I have no hope that this will be good.
Everything you've seen being limited to a short campaign demo a year ago? That doesn't take into consideration multiplayer including warzone, firefight, traditional multiplayer, big team battle, forge, theater and whatever else they have put into the game.

Hard to Kill
I hope it will be great 1 year is a long delay and they can do a lot in this time but I'm not sure 343 can pull it off.Maybe if some external studios helps maybe it would help but unless there's been a good shake up of 343 management I stay cautious.

Moderated wildly
I think it will disappoint a lot of people, and i will sit here looking at the gameplay like I CANT WAIT!!!! and will be super hyped to play it this holiday.

But ultimately, i think it will disappoint, even if they highlight that it is locked 60 FPS.

Welp, it’s still a game that has to run on an OG XBox One, so I’m not expecting anything particularly different or creative gameplay wise, but it’ll probably look a lot nicer than it did before.

Indeed, I think it looks pretty good for a more open world game in these screens.

They chose a very wierd time of day in the gameplay reveal that did the game a lot of unecessary disservice, so I appreciated that DF did a video on the matter.

Edit: Might add that my main problems with the games look was the lack of animations and that it gave off an impression of a very static, dead world. But those things might be fixed now.

It'll look fine. It'll play fine. It'll be fine. It won't be a saving grace nor will it be a downfall.

I hope they made the shooting feel heavier and impactful. The demo from last year made them look like toys. Also, a graphical upgrade to make it atleast look like a late gen xbox one game instead of a late gen 360 game.

Not to be rude but they have had a whole year to get this new demo right,

After what they showed last time, i expect every nook and cranny to be absolutely perfect.

Whatever they are showing this time round has to rock, or else heads should roll.
