you have a fair point as well. if the game is further along they might as well finish
I think it was really far along; but they knew it would not be a financial success, and likely had a huge financial incentive to finish Returnal sooner than later.

They had too lock that down or MS will, they both worked well together so congrats, hopefully more greatness from them.

Riiiight. Those studios haven't put out any quality games.

Your trolling of Sony is becoming much less transparent than you think. Quick click of the Report button each time.
Quality means nothing, if you keep bumping the same genre like last gen.

House marquis have done terrific job with returnal. This is the kinda of games Sony need, to attract other games. Not the same 3rd person narrative games.

They need other genre. Ps3 was much better than ps4 in term of diversity. It had great games, compared to ps4, which only stuck to a successful 1 genre.

With Microsoft and Nintendo trying to branch out their games, it will be foolish for Sony not to do the same. As I said before, we aren't in the old gen. Ps4 games won't carry ps5. Diversity genre is what would win them this genre.

Looks like Sony got the better deal, which makes sense since they are a massive company with decades of experience. If Returnal was going to sell gangbusters, Sony would have used their projections to purchase the company before it hit the shelves. Post-release gives Housemarque less negotiating power. Looks like the game still did pretty good though.

That's the "Style" of the game and has nothing to do with budget... Returnal was not monochromatic either - you're either trolling or have not played it.
I haven't played it but i have watched whole playthroughs of the game. The environments may not be exactly "monochromatic" but they DO have a very limited pallete which make them look boring and drab to me. Nier has some environments that have limited pallete as well but overall it was much more colorful and pleasant to the eye for me.

And yes obviously it was their artistic decision to make it look like that but i'm assuming that if their next game has a much more densive and less empty world it will also look more interesting to the eye.

It's now obvious what your deal is.... pathetic dude. Why are you even in here?

Housemarque is super talented and Imagine what they could do with an actual full budget for something like Returnal?

Imagine them expanding and making something even bigger in scope than Returnal?

You have issues dude......
I think you misunderstood me. I am not mocking them. Returnal is the type of game that I enjoy.

I want Sony to focus more on different genre, instead of just 3rd person narrative perspective.

Their ps3 library had more games, which are much better than their ps4 library in my opinion.

And other thing, is their dev doing AAA games. Those takes 4 years to develop. They need other talented studios to cover those period, of no games.

Marquise and the medium developers have the talents. They need resources to make a great game. Marquise found Sony, which will help them greatly.

I hope someone picks up the medium devs. The medium was a nice game. Due to resources, it wasn't enough, and the game lacked certain areas. But it was great package, with 2 camera feelings. With more resources, we would have had an epic game.

So to summarize, a) you haven't played it, and b) you haven't seen it in full HDR glory. There's plenty of colour in there.

I see that recent ban of yours worked wonders. "lollipop_disappointed:
I wonder why people think i am mocking Sony here?

I want more different games from them. I am just not a fan of the output of their current devs. I hope they do different types of games. That is all I want to.

I am happy they are focusing on that one now. Ps3 was more interesting for me for Sony, unlike their ps4 titles.

Now Bluepoint and a few others. Thanks.

Housemarque is a great acquisition for Sony. Returnal has done well for PS5 and has proven their worth. Isn't Bluepoint a similar studio that does excellent work almost exclusively for PS? I think that would be another great get for Sony.

it seems people are taking my comment the wrong way.

I am not mocking them or anything. Sony did a great job acquiring them. Marquise is a talented studio. And will help cover certain areas Sony is lacking.

My main issue with Sony is the lack of other genre. Compared to Microsoft future output, Sony can't match them with those genre.

While God of war 2, Spiderman 2, and Horizon forbidden west will make them a success, its not enough for people like me. I like different genre. Not the same 3rd person narrative story driven.

How about a prey type game. A shooter game, or even a horror game, which isn't a zombie. Something like amnesia.

These types of the games people like. I want them to give us those games. Just like how ps1-3 gave us great diversity games.

I don't need to play it myself in order to see it looks monochromatic. And no it doesn't have "plenty of colour". Unless you compare it to something that is Black & White.
As if Youtube/Twitch/whathaveyou compression doesn't change things. But you do you - the people that have actually played it haven't lamented about the same issues.

Uncharted bunghole
Last of Us, Returnal, Ratchet and Clank, Super Mario Odyssey, Grand Theft Auto, Resident Evil are all basically the same thing according to his logic.

I understand people saying that Uncharted is similar to Tomb Raider. But saying that Uncharted is similar to Returnal is kind of crazy. The gameplay between the two are very different.

Good for Sony, but probably really great for Housemarque. Now they got that Sony money backing them. Returnal might have been a litmus test for them. See if they can make a bigger budget game work. If they do, bring them aboard. If not, let them stay a free agent. I hope the Housemarque team was looking to join the Playstation team. Seeing as they've been largely exclusive, that's probably the case.

I look forward to seeing what they can do with full support on their next venture. Housemarque makes good games. I've been a fan of theirs since SSHD. Really happy for those guys.

If Bluepoint is being onboarded too, then that's another great job for another team that has been largely exclusive. However, with BP, I don't know if I want them to create their own project. I'd rather see them continue to crank out gorgeous remasters. IMO, if you've shown prowess in a specific area, stick to it. There are tons of games that could use the BP remastering touch.

Good catch. Btw, another private studio. If I'm not wrong, all studios purchased by Sony/MS are private, right? Maybe the bureaucracy is insane to invest in some public dev/publisher? Also the stocks, investors..etc :messenger_ogre:

You fanboys and I mean all fanboys are just funny. So now Microsoft just buys studios just to buy them? I don't get it.
I took it more as a statement that Microsoft were interested in Bathesda, Double Fine, Obsidian etc because they are all good devs but also came with a lot of IP that they already owned which helps fill out Gamepass (Pillars of Eternity, Psychonauts, Day of the Tenticle, Beutal Legend, TES and Fallout etc) whereas Sony are happy to spend less on equally talented devs that don’t own their own IP (probably because they already have stronger depth in terms of established IP).

Don’t think it was a negative comment.

Insomniac, Housemarque, Bluepoint (if true), are all great additions to Sony. They do almost all of their games for PS anyway, so for Sony they now get to control them and now own their IPs.

So you are on record as saying you weren't able to tell the difference between Spiderman, God of War, Uncharted and Horizon.

Should we now add Returnal to the list??

It's a great thing for the studios acquired also as they'll have Sony financial backing and stability plus access to all the 1st party tech. They will also have the ability to expand their studios or even do like Playground and start additional studios. It's a win/win for both parties.

I just wish Xbox would hurry up and acquire Asobo after the amazing work they've done/are doing with FS2020.

It does seem to be different philosophies - buying properties vs buying the talent that created those properties.
