It's not at all user friendly and quite confusing.

The game expect you to know everything.

I gave up on it myself. I had some fun with it but it grew old pretty fast.

And here I was about to congratulate you for expanding your gaming horizons and trying new things outside your comfort zone. Oh well... nothing is for everyone. As soon as I started playing MH back with MH4 I was hooked. The ability to seek different builds and save multiple loadouts is very addicting, and the gameplay loop is fun if you don't burn yourself out by not moderating your time in attaining all those items.

Thank you op, because of this thread I decided to reinstall MH:R today and I still love it.

But believe me, it took a while until I really knew how to play when I first started with MH.
But it's worth it!
