Pikmin 4's first week sales in Japan were more than those of the previous three games combined.

What time is it?
'frequent' good games...no.....'frequent' shovelware....yes. 1st party good games average about one every few months.

That may be your personal opinion, but it would be silly to suggest that sales in Japan are based on your individual preference no?

It makes no sense to say that 400,000 people bought Pikmin 4 in its first week because you don't like some Switch games.

On the one hand I’m impressed it did so well
On the other, I’m not surprised since switch doesn’t really have many high profile games on it. The Zelda was about it other than this for the year.

No Diablo, no Baldurs Gate, FF16, SpiderMan2, armored core 6, the list goes on and on and on, so many great games will just never be on switch, so of course people will flock to the few big releases it does get.

Again....large install base.....infrequent great 1st party releases = large sales.

I think the point you are misisng is that infrequent great 1st party releases = small userbase. The reason Switch has a large userbase is the frequent release of popular games (both first party and third party). People get the games they want, they don't care too much about the publisher's na

If we look at Japan last year you'll see why it makes no sense.
  • Pokemon Legends Arcues came out in January and has shipped 3.62 million beause infrequent great 1st party releases
  • Two months later Kirby and the Forgotten Land came out and has shipped 1.62 million beause infrequent great 1st party releases
  • A month after that Switch Sports came out and shipped 1.69 million beause infrequent great 1st party releases
  • 2 months after that Fire Emblem Three Hopes came out and sold over 100,000 beause infrequent great 1st party releases
  • A month after that Xenoblade 3 came out and has shipped 500,000 beause infrequent great 1st party releases
  • 2 months after that Splatoon 3 came out and has shipped 6.32 million beause infrequent great 1st party releases
  • A month after that Bayonetta 3 came out and has shipped 150,000 beause infrequent great 1st party releases
  • A month after that Pokemon Scarlet/Violet came out and shipped 6.94 million beause infrequent great 1st party releases
Basically, we can't say "Nintendo frequently releases games to great sales because it releases games infrquently".
