Persona 5 Strikers Review Thread

What exactly is this compared to Persona 5? does it follow the same story? the same characters? how is the battle system? I have such a hard time getting a read on what this game is.

Nice necro. It's a sequel sorta, but it's real time combat. If you loved P5 and enjoyed DMC style combat then theres 0 reasons not to get it. It takes a bit for the combat to click but once you reach your first real boss you'll know why it's great.

What about the story, does it reach anywhere near Persona 5 levels? can you walk around the city and talk to friends and stuff like that too?

You will travel in different cities where you can walk around and interact, yes. You can socialize as well ofc. The story beats are the same as P5 tho obviously not as good. It follows the same patern as the original, stuff happens, you uncover stuff, then bigger stuff happens and thats it but in a different skin. For example castles are now jails and you need to "free" the person of interests in each location just like in P5. YOu roam the maps which are now more open due to the nature of the gameplay being hack&slash, you still find secrets/shortcuts, you still need to do stuff before you send the calling card and once you do, you fight the bosses in real time which are really nice. You can play as whomever you want but be mindful that once you're in combat you cannot swap to the ones you did not pick as your default group. I recommend playing it on Hard to fully see its potential, it's not as easy as it seems, especially the bosses and some tougher enemies in the dungeons. Only negative is, since its no longer an rpg, the bond mechanic is simplified and you no longer have the "choices" as the previous game. The music is just as awesome, the characters just as charming ang great as p5. It's great. You just really need to like the combat, else it might not click with you.
