The server problems are gonna fuck the score in the ass.

The game is great even with all his flaws.

i've watched multiple streamers to see how the game progress was despite my feeling on the demo (and early game) and I'm more and more tempted because of the gameplay and build features (even if the DA is a big no for me)

Yep played for 5 hours. I like how it totally reminds me of the bro shooter from 360 era lol. Solid 7 and no wonder its selling more than Avengers. Gameplay is king.

Just give up and buy the game (or use gamepass)

I almost went out and got it. The demo was fun, but then I found out about the end game, which is disastrously bad because the game doesn't respect the time the player invests. The endgame consists of doing the same things over and over so you can do the exact same things again just with different numbers. There are no new mechanics, enemies, maps or any other content and the fact that Outriders looks like a cheap by-the-books last gen game and has the worst corridor levels in history of gaming didn't help either.

I think it will get boring once I finish the main story but until then I’m really enjoying it. I love how ridiculously agressive the AI is and that you can customize difficulty any way you want to (reminds me of Diablo 3 really).

The gameplay is not bad the opposite but lacks the budget to shine. It deserved more investment and not a low budget.

That is what is hurting it... the potential missed.... and that makes me very sad.

Very fun game, I'm having a blast with my friends... is a mix of many games, improving some aspects (crafting for example) and finally a game with the possibility of selling or destroying ALL the objects together ... it was time.

Yeah and it's really unfortunate. I'm loving it, but I've been really lucky with server issues. I've only been kicked once and was able to get back in after about 15 minutes. I think my good fortune with the servers contributes to my high opinion of the game. It's super fun. My only complaint with the always online requirement is QR doesn't work because of it.

I actually enjoyed the demo somewhat, but not enough to want to buy the game. I was going to wait until it came to Game Pass to play, so it was a great surprise when Xbox announced it would be on Game Pass day 1.

After playing the game, I feel the it would have been worth a buy if I hadn't gotten Day 1 for free. If I was into co-op I would buy it since it won't be on Game Pass forever, but I'm a very antisocial gamer and not vaguely interested in co-op.

Server problems are really annoying but i'm intelligent enough to separate technical problems from the intrinsic quality of the game.

Having a good time with it. Makes one of the worst first impressions I have ever seen. The first hour is straight trash and not like the rest of the game. Once you get into the classes and weapons theres some real depth. Like the World tiers system a lot.
How true is this, honestly? I deleted the demo after 30 minutes because the game played like literal ass. It gets that much better?

The first hour makes it feel like a really bad gears clone but it's far more sci fi division than anything. It's not as smooth as gears in terms of controls but it's more than serviceable.

The skills and weapons are fun. Enemy variety is good as it opens up as the games goes on. I'm having a good time with it.

My main issues were the traversal being dog shit, a complete waste of a cover system, and 0 saticfaction from bullets hitting an enemy. Meaning hit markets, enemies stumbling, or them reacting in any real way. I’ve heard the cover system becomes more or less irrelevant but does hitting enemies and getting around ever become decent?

The endgame is 15 different strike like maps. I'm quite enjoying it so far. Every looter shooter consists of repeated gameplay loops for better gear so it seems like the real issue you have is with the entire genre.

Cover is irrelevant. Bullets hitting enemies is highly subjective, but it is satisfying using shotgun and one shotting enemies with all the gore. Sound wise some abilities and guns sound better than others. Traversal is a negative point because you can't climb hardly anything and there seems to be an issue with sprint being stopped by any small deformity in the terrain which is annoying.

Game is fun to play, has a great loot system, a tremendous variety of enemies and environments, but has server issues which are improving and probably won't be an issue in a few weeks, and the cutscenes are very low budget, but overall I liked the story.

Why are you lying ? what do you expect ? not only you get maps / locations you didn't go to in the main campaign at end game, on top of that there actually are new bosses. This is a looter where the goal is to have the most capable build in order to do the challenging content by yourself, the grind is the point

Love the game but not surprised it’s getting just good scores. Server issues are killing it and a lot of people seem to expect non-looter gameplay loops and mechanics in a looter game for some reason 🤷‍♂️

To go along with poor cutscenes, I also have to say the voice acting is pretty poor across the board, with some people sounding hilariously bad which I don't think was intended.

I find the hit reactions and stumbling better than in gears saga where you can unleash an entire magazine of lancer on a simple locust without almost any reaction whatsoever, gore is pretty similar in both games, you can literally cut in half a guy with a shotgun.
(Tbh i never really likex the hit reaction and animations in gears games)

Overall a decent level but probably still one of the weakest parts of the game (i care a lot about hit reactions)

The more powerfull powers have some nice effects where npenemies explode with flying parts everywhere.

Of course the more tanky the enemy, the less reactions is gonna have to not make the game too easy with continue stunlocks.

The covers in this game are mostly for the enemies, you have to play aggressively in most of the cases, and yeah it is more clunky than division\gears covers system.

Traversal is the same, you run in the maps with some fast travel points, not a huge flaw tbh for me, it's not like you need special traversal in a shlooter with small maps.

If you're looking for the weighted feel of like a gears it's not there. The contact is not dramatically different between weapons. The rifles can be satisfying but that really depends on your WT level.

In fact a lot of it depends on your WT level. You can make the game as hard or easy as you want. Higher WT levels the enemies can feel spongy but if you don't want that dropping the WT level makes them far less spongy.

Higher WT levels require you to use the cover to plan out your move. But enemies can and will flank you very easily making the cover useless. The mechanic of getting your health back by shooting pushes the game to use cover to regroup rather than make it a cover shooter This also depends on your class as well.

when you talk about wheighted feel, do you mean the movements right? like outriders is more floaty\less precise than gears.

or you were talking about hit reactions?!

Both really.
Wild how we have completely different opinions about gears hit reactions\dead animations etc.

And to think that it is basically the first thing i notice\care in every shooter game.

I feel like I'm gears when you get that breechshot or sawed off hit on the money you really feel it.

Here, it's still satisfying, but it lacks that "punch" for me.

I'm more talking about hit reactions where the gore is not involved, like for me even remnant from the ashes has better hit reactions, stumbling, ragdoll etc, i don't know how to explain, gears enemies are too rigid for lack of better words.

And tbh i never like liked the type of gore that gears utilize, enemies just explode in a meat pulp, i like far more the gore in something like tlou2 (like another universe for me)

But yeah the shotguns in gears are much better than the automatic weapons in terms of feeling.

I think Gears became better at reactions and stumbling but its still not great. I like the division 2 in regards to how they react when they get hit.

yeah, i like division 2 hit reactions, but they are still mostly precanned.

far from stuff like mp3 or rdr2 where bullets are 3d modeled and have an impact every single tipe you fire a gun, plus euphoria engine doing his magic with soft bodies.

this is basically porn for me

This game has not right being this good. Outside of the server issues (which I can only assume will get better over the next few weeks), they delivered an amazing game.

Level 20/WT9 now, been playing this character exclusively coop with a buddy. I’m doing Trickster and he is using Technomancer, we are a force to be reckoned with. Once you really understand your role in the game, you start equipping/modding/skill choice/class points just right and everything just works beautifully.

My go to with the trickster is to

Looking forward to giving this a whirl at some point, I just figured I'd wait for all the kinks to get worked out. I feel pretty bad for all the shit that team is going through, but I'm sure it'll be in a good position soon enough, if it's not already on that track.

My understanding is the first couple of hours are pretty meh/lame. But after that it really opens up quite a bit and feels a LOT better. At least, the gameplay and all that. Sounds like the story and characters are all pretty forgettable, which doesn't surprise me considering that's how it kind of felt to me in the demo.

Reviewers know that their profession will soon be no longer in demand, thanks to Game Pass.

These scores seem to be an act of defiance rather than a serious assessment.

The endgame is 15 different strike like maps. I'm quite enjoying it so far. Every looter shooter consists of repeated gameplay loops for better gear so it seems like the real issue you have is with the entire genre.

Outriders has an enormously bad art and map design. There is absolutely zero difference in gameplay between the different maps. It's just different textures on extremely artificial looking maps made for a cover shooter. The maps barely differ in verticality, design, or battle arenas.
When I write about it, I realize that what bothers me the most is that this game has so much potential, but unfortunately it has been implemented in such an incredibly simple and boring way. I'm not saying that the game isn't fun. I had a lot of fun with the demo, but this eternal looping spiral is just too obvious and lacks variety. The developer simply took the path with the least effort for the end game.

What did you expect? What is an example of end game that you are describing?

I didn't say that there are many other games that do it better. But Outriders really makes it very unimaginative. They don't even bother to disguise it in any way. You play content to be able to play the exact same content again with different numbers.

Why are you lying ? what do you expect ? not only you get maps / locations you didn't go to in the main campaign at end game, on top of that there actually are new bosses. This is a looter where the goal is to have the most capable build in order to do the challenging content by yourself, the grind is the point

For the most part, you play in exactly the same maps that you already know. Just because the corridors or arenas have one or two different walls doesn't make it a different map. The whole process is like arena -> short corridor -> arena -> short corridor -> arena and so on. This is the endgame. Day 1 of the Endgame looks exactly like Day 100. Unfortunately, it's not as if the maps play very differently. Whether there's a brown or gray wall doesn't change the gameplay.

Spoiler: regarding builds. The best builds for all classes are the builds which push max bullet damage. That's not very imaginative and, again, just bad design.

Angry Joe hates the game, but all the other streamers i watched love it. AJ and crew did have constant server problems though, which didnt help with their view of the game.

Lol, of course its a different map since it has an unique design, enemy / hazard placement, enemy density and pacing. The structure is the same, but the maps aren't

Also, regarding builds, the best builds are the most min maxed but do you need them to begin with ? These are about cleaning expeditions at T 12 - 15 solo, and you do need an awful lot of burst damage to not get overwhelmed

Yet, I manage to utterly demolish people damage wise on the devastator with a hybrid build that isn't exactly about max bullet damage and clear up expeditions solo just fine. The word of mouth is that the class is bad. Same shit regarding a lot of things about people's perception of the game rather than them having intricate understanding of the systems in place, you might not have the best build out there but you can make it work for what it is you want to
