Ok... What exactly is a "bean feast"? (Willy Wonka)

Good question. Judging by the father saying "oh, one of those" he must be pretty familiar with them himself.

Wikipedia says "A bean-feast was an informal term for a celebratory meal or party, especially an annual summer dinner given by an employer to his or her employees."

Does this mean that they were generous with their employees, having feasts for them? Maybe we judged her for being selfish too harshly all this time.

I lived in France for a year in elementary school, with my grandparents when I was 10, and heard it from one of Aunts who lived in Great Britain. She told me that we were going to have a bean feast in my honor. I was so confused and was hoping for jelly beans. It was just a cook out.

They should have done a pop-up in that scene. Or maybe ea freeze frame with an explanation.
Translation notes just like in my japanese cartoons!
