Odyssey is by far the worst Assassin's Creed and one of the worst games I ever played

You had to kill these 4? Leaders the Scorpion? I was level 17 or 18 and I had to be level 28-30 or so to even be able to accept the mission. Odessey did not have this. And even if there was a level difference you could still accept the Mission. That said the side stuff in Origins was pretty bad distributed in the world. I had not even ? on the map when I had to grind these level. So all I could do was to go to another area and grind there.
Dude honestly i don't remember much, i tend to forget ubisoft games pretty fast, i'm not exactly a fan.

I liked it from a gameplay point of view and the graphics were great but it felt overly long and didn't feel like Assassin's Creed. Also, the story was as cookie cutter as you could get. It was so bad that I just started skipping every single cut scene which is not like me.

Assassin's Creed games have turned into put a million icons on the map that really don't have any importance in the story or game and is just used as a time sink. I'm one of those people were if I see something on the map, I feel like I need to do it. If you end up doing that though, you are going to end up with a 70+ hour game and not much to show for it. It's all busy work.

A yeah, Kassandra was the way to go. Her personality was way better than Alex but the story was still awful.

They have the same lines and personality, what change is the VA, kassandra doesn't sound like a cheap russian pornstar from the 80s.

A shame you didn't take some to look how you parameter your experience because odyssey already improved things by a good margin there playing exploration mode

I had a blast playing this, and I didn't liked Origin. Maybe because I liked the setting and Kassandra was a great character.

I loved Odyssey. The games are repetitive but the scenary in Odyssey was spectacular. And as much as I love the first AC due to the setting/time period (I read Alamut to get hyped for the game), that had the most repetitive and boring gameplay in the entire series.

Can you avoid the grind and skip all the generic Ubi bullshit ( clear all the ? on map, outposts, etc)?
Few hours in, kind of still getting handle of the game.
Pros:
- Kassandra's voice acting: I like her character and attitude
- World&Environmental design
- Seems there is a lot of options with how to approach enemies/gameplay
Cons:
- Same levelled quests/enemies bs you find in MMOs: nothing I hate more in SINGLE player rpgs. It railroads the player/exploration into doing things in specific order and punishes you for doing otherwise. One guy with a higher number above his head( who looks and fights exactly the same as five other guys next to him), instant kills you for being "higher level".
- Melee, surprisingly, feels really poor. Witcher got a lot of criticism for it's combat, but this is actually far worse: very floaty feel, lackluster hits with sounds, poor hit reactions. I expected a lot better on this. ( I skipped Origins, but I remember Syndicate being better at this)
- Writing is..kind of at odds with the setting. As a huge old mythology/Greek fan, this almost feels like a parody. I like some humor in games, but it's best used in small measure. It kind of reminds me of Outer worlds, with nearly every character made "quirky" to be interesting: but it just gets annoying after a while and you stop taking anything seriously.
Yep, the writing just kills almost all the joy it could provide. However, I really like Valhalla, I should say it's on par with Origins for me. Compared to Odyssey, the difference is night and day and Valhalla feels like a real nextgen game compared to Odyssey.

I hadn't played an Assassin's Creed after getting burned by how bad 3 was, picked up Odyssey on one of those big sales and couldn't get more than a couple hours into it. I really, thoroughly, enjoyed 1, 2, Brotherhood and Revelations, but after that I just haven't been able to get into them at all. It's become a game series I just kind of ignore now and that's really unfortunate.

I played about 20 hours of it, then stopped because I found it tedious and unengaging. I'd echo a lot of the OPs and others' complaints about the game, particularly the writing. I noticed some "woke" bits, but that wasn't the main issue. For me, the main issue was just that the writing was not very good -- it failed to evoke the setting or time period at all; the contrast between the writing and the alleged setting was jarring and incongruous. It prevented me from getting immersed in the story, because it was constantly drawing attention to itself.

I also found the combat and exploration rather dull. And it seemed overstuffed with miscellaneous sidequests that served no real purpose except to fill out the map and add time to the clock. I guess that's a Ubisoft staple, though.

I'm encouraged to hear that AC: Origins is better. I've never played that one. I've been wondering if it's worth a go. It was my impression of AC: Odyssey that kept me away from it.

I enjoyed my time with the game. Put in close to 100 hours. My biggest complaint was the level scaling and uninteresting sidequests.

Origins is a masterpiece compared to Odyssey. I think it's worth a try for sure for the price they ask for it nowadays, if only for experiencing Egypt, it's glorious.

Strongly disagree and rejects OPs opinion regarding Odyssey. You are wrong in every way my friend.

Odyssey is one of the best games of Xbox one and PS4 generatio. I Didnt like Origins but loved Odyssey. I bought for both PS and Xbox and got 100% in both.

Is it a good old school AC game? No but still it's a fantastic Action RPG game.

Deep down it’s a good game if you take away all the grinding, map which is five times too big for its own good and poor repetitive side quests.

But regardless of all of that it’s still an incredibly shit Assassin’s Creed game. To be honest, Odyssey, Origins and Valhalla are all horrible Assassin’s Creed games.

"... one of the worst games I've ever played."

This take is so hot that it puts the sun to shame. You must not play many games.

Beautiful look at just like Kassandra but you're better off going to Greece. This game doesn't do the period justice but imo if they added a lethal mode difficulty it would at least remove the stupid HP based combat.

I do like wandering around it though and going for a swim.

This game and origins completely wasted their settings.

I had a really pleasant and refreshing experience on Origin back when it was released and recently bought the season pass on a whim.

Damn things are not what I remembered. Basically every mission is clearing a outpost, rinse and repeat. Managed to finish the Hidden Ones and had no interests to continue the supposedly more intriguing Curse of Pharaoh.

Odyssey is simply worse, more copy paste contents all over 100+ hours.

Think about Fenyx Rising, it is the same team but with a different approach. Most people like this game because of its refrain on copy paste contents (still gets a bit repetitive but manageable) and no much RPG shitty mechanics.

Greek Mythology is one of the easiest world to create for entertainment and I would place this as the worst. it's just boring AF, no other way to decipher. THERE is a possible good game here, but it feels like an MMO but you are stuck in the first zone for the entire game. Fck me HOW did this game get good reviews....HOW!!!!

Been playing this more in past week. It's definitely quantity over quality, but it has enough variety of things to keep you "hooked". Better name would be"Wacky adventures with funny ol' Greeks". Quests and Story are ok, though nothing really memorable/outstanding. Well, except for "romances"...they are hilariously badly written, but incredibly entertaining. High cringe tolerance needed though.
The world and art direction is definite star of the game. They really went all in with this..it's amazing just looking at the decorated walls, statues, and admire the effort that went into all of this. With some really good lighting, and weather systems, the world looks downright picturesque at times.
As for "is it good AC?"..honestly series exhausted it's central story/theme already after RIP Desmond ( and even then went out with a whimper). Ubisoft would be better off if they hired some really good writers, especially with worldbuilding/setting( like Chris L'Etoile), and just make a high fantasy series a-la-Elder Scrolls. The whole AC lore and their style of writing clashes with any kind of "accurate" depiction of history anyway.
