Opinion Nintendo's "Withered Technology" Philosophy in hardware literally means: "Wait until its cheap / avoid cutting edge" and gamer's are still upset...

I would have bought "Eiyuden Chronicle" for Switch Pro but now without a new version the game wont make it. All the Kickstarter backers can now choose another version (PS 5, PS 4, PC, Xbox) or get the money back.

I also had a Gamecube growing up:
26 90+ games on Gamecube, 10 by Nintendo, two of those are Zelda compilations though. One is OOT and MM on one disk, the other also has the NES games.
20 90+ games on Switch, 6 by Nintendo.

98 80-90 games on Gamecube, 13 by Nintendo.
316 80-90 games on Switch, 25 by Nintendo.

Gamecube is done, Switch still has some years and games left.
This is disingenuous and you know it. Game for game gamecube has more bangers than switch. Listing it out by Metacritic score hides the fact 80% switchs +90 games are either indies or years late ports of games. Ffs a re-released VISUAL NOVEL with 8 reviews is the highest rated switch game lmao.

Yes Gamecube has yearly sports release in it's list, but they're about half that and that's on top of gamecube already have more good games.

I'm just listing of the numbers. There are a few more 90+ games on Gamecube, but way more 80-90 games on Switch. Now if you want to talk about entirely unique games, then the Gamecube may fare a little better, but a huge junk of its bangers are on other platforms as well. Disqualifying Indies and ports on the Switch is like going at each every game on the Gamecube that was ported to other platforms and disqualifying them too. In the end it's about having a good lineup of games both in quality and quantity, and in that aspect the Switch has more. I love the Gamecube, it was my first very own console (PS1 and N64 were in my household too, but those were not mine), and there a many great games, but let's be realistic for a second.

Disqualify then ports made by Nintendo and judge just the first party games.

Nintendo gonna Nintendo.

That's who and how they are.

Just buy whatever hardware they have and enjoy the games.

Gamecube has multiplatform games, as in they released simultaneously on other platforms as well, sometimes even AFTER the Gamecube release in fact. People would LOVE if that happened on Switch. But what switch has ports, as in years old games that were ported over. There's a massive difference between the two. Take Witcher 3 of example, it's rated 85 on metacritic. But it came with Switch 4 YEARS after release. Do you honestly believe that's comparable to stuff like REmake, RE4, Viewtiful Joe etc... in which peoples 1st experience of these games, day and date, would have been on Gamecube? Let's be realistic for a second.

There are also multiplatform games on the Switch. Not as many AAA games obviously, but still a very big library of games consisting of exclusives, multiplatform games and ports. Games like Witcher 3 need a lot of extra work to run on Switch and Witcher 3 never even had the chance of releasing on the same day as the other platforms.

I guess if you don't like Nintendo games, indies or the convenience of playing something like Skyrim on the go and the occasional third party exclusive like Braverly Default 2, then the Switch isn't for you to begin with. There is simply more content on Switch than on the Gamecube, especially if you never owned a Wii U (aka most people), actually enjoy indies and like playing games on a handheld form-factor. There are over 3500 games released on Switch and 800 of those are rated with at least 70/100 on MC. The Gamecube has less than half of that. Much less in fact. As far as the numbers go there is literally no comparison. Let's be realistic for a second.

I'm talking about in the context of this whole "metacritic +90/ 80-90" games list you're using to compare the Gamecube to the Switch. How many of Switches "metacritic +90/ 80-90" games are day and date AAA multiplatform releases? I checked. It's exactly 0.

Games like Witcher 3 need a lot of extra work to run on Switch
Which is a negative that the Switch has that Gamecube didn't. That's the point I'm making here.

Gamecube: Play AAA multiplatform releases day and date
Switch: Wait years to play ported over last gen games (sometime even a gen or two older) with little to no chance of playing current gen games

I guess if you don't like Nintendo games, indies or the convenience of playing something like Skyrim on the go and the occasional third party exclusive like Braverly Default 2, then the Switch isn't for you to begin with.
So it's basically just Nintendo games. No console manufacture sets out to have 2/3 of the draw of their $300 system be indie games and $60 years old ports of games that every one and their nan has already played that you can get in bargain bins for $5-10.

I'm not disagreeing with the numbers, I made that very clear. I disagreeing with you disingenuously framing the numbers as a means to say "Switch>Gamecube" when in fact when you dive deeper, look at the actual games and engage your brain for a second you'll see that in terms of quality of experience per game Gamecube shits all over Switch. Anyone with a brain cell will tell it's a superior experience to play ONE of something like RE4 day and date when it released instead of YEARS old ports of stuff like The Witcher 3, Bioshock Collection, Borderland collection, Zelda Skyword Sword etc... Anyone that cares about the games I listed will have already played the YEARS ago. The quality of the experience isn't even comparable in the slightest.

Thats is your opinion dude, nothing more nothing less. I am not sure what you are even on about. I get more content on the Switch. If you like the Gamecube more and what it has to offer that is up to your taste. You got a point about the lack of day 1 AAA releases on Switch for sure, but I don't rate platforms like the Switch with those those very specific factors. I only care about playing good games, which is something I will definitely get on the Switch.

Also that big brain sentiment is embarrassing to say the least. It's video games dude. Don't act so pretentious.

Then just say that next time and move along instead of trying to frame it as a statistical objective analysis of Gamecube vs Switch. Which is what you initially did before getting called out and refuted on it.

I'm a big fan of the switch. I don't care about the hardware really. If I want to play a 3rd party I'll use a different console. This year hasn't been good for me though. Really nothing I want to play.

Nintendo was putting out some of the best looking games of the era on the gamecube. People like to forget it but the gamecube was a beefy little box. It was more powerful than the ps2
The GC was indeed a beast it had superior cpu performance over xbox and had games with highest polygon counts of the time with Rogue Squadron1+2 being king.
RE4 also shows how the GC was superior to RE4 PS2.
